Justin Bieber’s robbery case rejected

Justin Bieber will not be prosecuted for allegedly stealing a woman's phone.
The 20-year-old singer was accused of snatching the device at a mini-golf complex in the San Fernando Valley, California last month, but the Los Angeles City Attorney's office has officially rejected the case due to a "lack of evidence," according to gossip website TMZ.com.
The L.A. County District Attorney (D.A.) referred the case to the city attorney for misdemeanour consideration last week after they decided that the 'Confident' singer should not face felony charges because nine witnesses said the woman made up the alleged robbery.
The woman claimed at the time that Justin demanded to see her phone so he could delete pictures he believed she had taken of him, but when she refused, he grabbed it from her bag.
She said she began "wrestling" with the star for the phone and although he allegedly "ripped it out of her hands" he wasn't able to access the pictures because the phone was locked.
Justin was said to have demanded she unlock it and she proved she hadn't taken any photographs, before he allegedly "screamed" at her and upset her 13-year-old daughter.
Justin previously denied the incident ever happened on Twitter, writing: "It is hard to defend myself and my privacy every moment of the day. Then to see rumours. The truth will set u free. (sic)"
He then continued: "My mom raised me to be kind to others. I get judged, harassed, and I try to take the high road. Sometimes it isn't easy. But we keep trying...
"I will continue to be the man my mother raised. I love people and I will try to be kind even when things are not fair. Don't believe rumours...(sic)"

Joey Essex feels like William Shakespeare

Joey Essex has compared himself to William Shakespeare.
The former 'The Only Way Is Essex' star has boldly likened the success of his debut autobiography, 'Being Reem', to that of the iconic British playwright, who is widely recognised as the best writer in the English language.
Discussing his new book, he enthused: "It's been phenomenal. I'm like William Shakespeare."
Aside from his grand ambitions to compete with the Bard of Avon, Joey - who has trouble telling the time - claims he has been hanging out at home with the ghost of an elderly man.
He explained in an interview with new! magazine: "I've got a ghost in my house. He's about 80 years old. He just says, 'What's happening?' all of the time. Anyone who comes round always goes, 'Is it me or is there a ghost sitting in here?' "
The star isn't afraid of the spooky presence however, adding: "He's harmless. He's like Casper."
Joey is no stranger to strange rumours about himself and wishes some of them could come true.
Quizzed about the weirdest claim he'd heard, he said: "Probably that I'm going to the moon. I'd love to do that but I'd have to take a month off work to get there and back."

Prince Charles helps clog maker

Britain's Prince Charles has agreed to fund an apprenticeship for a clog maker.
Trefor Owen, of Criccieth, Wales, is one of just a handful of craftsmen in the UK still making the unique footwear and feared his trade would be lost forever as he struggled to find the support to hire a younger apprentice, but after speaking about his plight on Radio 4 last year, Charles stepped in to help.
Mr. Owen said: "I got a phone call from a woman who said she worked for Prince Charles and wanted more information.
"I thought it was a wind-up or a con trick. It was a great shock and certainly not what I expected. I believe he has a very strong interest in heritage and traditional crafts, and he was struck enough by my story to have his staff follow it up."
The craftsman said he felt a "moral obligation" to pass on his knowledge and was concerned there are no young people studying the craft.
He told Wales' Daily Post newspaper: "I'll be 63 in a couple of weeks' time and, while it's unlikely I will ever retire, I may soon want to slow down or do other things.
"We make clogs for an international trade, but the core of our business is young Welsh dancers. There needs to be continuity in the clogmaking so that there's continuity in the clog dancing. If you have no clogs, you have no dancing.
"There is a sort of moral obligation to make sure I pass on the skills.
"I don't know of anyone under 50 making clogs in England, Wales or Scotland, and nobody is teaching young people how to do it.
"I was looking for a number of years to set up a training scheme of some kind to pass the skills on. I approached all sorts of organisations without success."
With Charles' help, Gwilym Bowen Rhys, 21, has now begun learning the craft and his boss is already impressed by his young employee.
He said: "It's a great relief to find someone. I was getting concerned about who was going to follow on from me.
"It's very early days, but Gwilym is energetic and enthusiastic."
A spokesperson for the prince said he was "glad" to help.
His representative said: "The Prince of Wales was keen to see the craft of traditional Welsh clog making continued, and so was very glad to contribute to help ensure that Mr Owen could recruit an apprentice."

Tracy Morgan doing better

Tracy Morgan's condition has been upgraded to fair.
The '30 Rock' star sustained a number of injuries - including a broken femur, a broken nose and broken ribs - when a Walmart truck smashed into the limo bus he was travelling in on the New Jersey Turnpike on June 7, but has made strong signs of improvement and is no longer in a critical condition.
His representative said: "He has been upgraded to fair condition, which is a great improvement.
"His personality is certainly starting to come back as well."
Tracy's assistant Jeffrey Millea was also seriously injured in the crash, but the comic's representative confirmed his condition has also been upgraded to fair.
The nasty collision killed a fellow passenger, comedian James McNair, who performed under the name Jimmy Mack, while comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton were also among those injured.
Kevin Roper, the truck driver involved in the crash, has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto in connection with the crash, but pleaded not guilty during an appearance at Middlesex County Superior Court in New Jersey last week.
Following the hearing, Mr. Roper, 35, was released on $50,000 bail.

Johnny Depp wants London home

Johnny Depp is looking for a "weekend retreat" in London.
The 'Lone Ranger' actor and his fiancee Amber Heard enjoyed spending time in the UK last year so are looking to buy a base that will allow them to take regular short breaks, and the 28-year-old actress' dad David is already looking forward to joining them in the city.
David is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: "I think they will have at least a weekend retreat in England soon, around London as they both love it so much - and I enjoy visiting.
"Last September they were both in England and they were in a hotel. Then they rented something on the edge of London.
"They love it, I'm sure they will buy something there."
The couple were in London while Johnny, 51, shoots forthcoming movie 'Mortdecai' but it is unclear how much time the pair will get to spend in the UK this year as he is due in Puerto Rico in the coming months to start work on the next 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie, and both stars are currently filming in the US.
It was recently revealed that Amber has been bonding with Johnny's children Lily-Rose, 14, and 12-year-old son Jack - who he has with former partner Vanessa Paradis - and they have been enjoying weekend breaks together.
A source said: "Johnny has gotten in the habit of setting up remote weekend getaways with Amber and the kids, and usually he will lease a helicopter and have them all ferried to a remote location or resort in Southern California."

Una Foden spends all her free time with daughter

Una Foden devotes all her free time to her daughter.
The Saturdays singer has Aoife, two, with her husband, England player Ben Foden and she tries to spend as much time as possible with her little girl and her man when the band's busy schedule allows.
She told the new UK issue of OK! magazine: "When I'm not working I spend all my time with Aoife. Ben's a really hands-on dad, too, so he really plays a vital role."
Although she likes being at home, Una is still fully committed to the girl group - made up of Rochelle Humes, Mollie King, Vanessa White and Frankie Sandford - and insists they won't be splitting any time soon.
She explained: "We'll be around as long as the fans will have us!"
Una's bandmate Rochelle - who has a 13-month-old daughter Alaia-Mai with her husband, former JLS singer Marvin Humes - is also determined to be with her child as much as she can and is always thinking about what motherly duties she needs to carry out.
Rochelle said: "I find myself planning all of the baby's meals, and hers are all really healthy. I'm trying to make a conscious effort, but it is easier said than done!"
Rumours have circulated that the band may separate after they release their 'Finest Selection: The Greatest Hits' album and tour the album later this year.
But Vanessa has reiterated Una's insistence they will be continuing as a group.
In the joint interview, Vanessa said: "We're not splitting up - it's the right time to do a greatest hits tour because we have been together now for seven years, and other people bring out a greatest hits much quicker."

Sam Strike: Danny Dyer told me not to change

Danny Dyer instructed 'EastEnders' co-star Sam Strike "not to change".
The young actor, who plays Danny's on-screen son Johnny Carter in the soap, has admitted to being naturally shy and worried he'd struggle on set when he first started, but was comforted by advice given by the movie and TV veteran.
Sam told Inside Soap magazine: "I'm not the most extroverted person, and when I first joined the show Danny gave me some really good advice.
"He told me not to change a thing about myself and not to worry about being shy. It was good to hear that from someone who had been there and back."
Meanwhile, Sam's character Johnny will have his family loyalty tested next week when he decides to move out of the Queen Vic following a major argument with his mother, Linda (Kellie Bright).
The actor explained: "Johnny is really ashamed of himself because he takes the argument too far. Johnny leaves partly because he's ashamed of himself and partly because it's the only way he can have any independence.
"Rather than this argument being a wedge that separates them completely, it's the major blow-out that they need to put things right."
Johnny is also involved in the ongoing storyline involving his boss Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean), who has been left fighting for her life after she was brutally attacked while closing her bar, The Albert, in last night's (16.06.14) episode.

Rik Mayall’s widow calls for prayers

Rik Mayall's widow has called for "thoughts and prayers" from fans as he is buried on Thursday (19.06.14).
The late 'Bottom' comedian will be laid to rest in a private funeral later this week and his wife Barbara Robbins has urged fans to join family and friends in saying goodbye to the star, who tragically passed away on June 9.
She said: "Knowing the swell of love you all share with us we would like to let you, the fans, know that we will be having a private family funeral for Rik, as I am sure you will understand.
"We will be burying him at 2pm on Thursday, June 19, if you would like to join us in thoughts and prayer at this time.
"Thank you again for all your love and support to all our family, it brings great strength."
Fans of the legendary comic have rallied to pay tribute to 'The Young Ones' star in the week following his death.
On Sunday (15.06.14), Rik's 2010 World Cup song 'Noble England' - which failed to chart upon its initial release - entered the UK singles chart at number seven after a social media campaign.
Meanwhile, a new petition has called for a memorial bench to be installed in west London's Hammersmith Broadway, where Rik and comedy partner Ade Edmondson filmed the famous title sequence to BBC sitcom 'Bottom'.
The clip sees Rik's character, Richie, punch Ade's Eddie in the groin while they sit on a park bench.

True Detective creator’s ‘secret list’ for new cast

'True Detective' creator Nic Pizzolatto has a "secret list" of A-listers he wants to star in the second season.
The 39-year-old producer has revealed that only he knows who is in the running to follow in the footsteps of Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson by appearing in the next series of the hit HBO detective drama.
Speaking at the Banff World Media Festival, Nic said: "I've talked to one person about [casting] possibly, and that has been it.
"We haven't cast anybody. I have a secret list and that's it."
Despite a number of big Hollywood names - including Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt - being attached to the lead roles, Nic insists that no major decisions about the cast have been made.
He said: "Literally, not a single rumour about casting has any truth to it whatsoever."
However, the producer did confirm that the new season will include female lead but will not be "female-led".
'True Detective' proved a huge critical success when it began airing in the US earlier this year, but stars Matthew and Woody only signed up for one season.
The show is billed as an 'anthology' series and will feature a new cast and all-new characters each season.
