Brooke Vincent finds it hard to meet men because they think she's a lesbian in real life.
The 'Coronation Street' beauty, who plays lesbian Sophie Webster, admits she doesn't get much attention from the opposite sex following her split from footballer Josh McEachran as guys assume she only likes women.
She said: "That's the first question a lad will ask me, 'Are you really a lesbian?' "
The 22-year-old actress, whose character is in a serious relationship with Maddie Heath (Amy Kelly), admits she worried how viewers would react to her storyline but is pleased with the positive impact it has had on young lesbian viewers.
She explained to The Sun newspaper: "I was worried how people were going to respond because I was the first 'Corrie' lesbian. I was the first soap lesbian, really. I'm probably the first proper one.
"A lot say, 'Oh, my gran understands now, because you're a lesbian on 'Corrie' and she watches 'Corrie'.'
"It's normally the older generation that struggles with it because it was not around in their day, never heard of, and you couldn't say this and couldn't say that."
Brooke finds the positive effect incredibly rewarding and thinks her plot has been an "amazing experience".
She added: "It's just knowing you're helping that one person, it makes such a difference. So many people tweet me and say, 'Thank you for this.' "

Brendan O'Carroll was the "golden boy" in juvenile detention.
The creator and star of 'Mrs. Brown's Boys' has confessed he was sent to a youth detention centre in Dublin, Ireland, after he was caught stealing a roll of sticky tape and a bicycle bell as a youngster, but his ability to read Latin made his three-week stay much easier.
Brendan said: "Well, that made me the golden boy! I was up every morning at half-six for Mass and I got a pretty easy ride of it at the end of the day.
"A lot of people got a much tougher time than me in there."
The 58-year-old funnyman - who admits his famous character Agnes Brown is based on his mother and other strong women he grew up around - was celebrating his birthday on the day he received his court sentence and reveals his mother didn't let it ruin his day.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The morning I went to court, it was my ninth birthday. I was in my suit for my birthday, the suit I'd worn to one of my brothers' or sisters' weddings, and my mother took me into town. On the way we stopped by the court.
"When we came out of court, I said, 'How did it go?' She said, 'We'll talk later.' We had a great day ... she brought me to Bewley's [coffee shop] to have coffee, she put down a plate of éclairs, and I ate eight éclairs!"
He added: "That night she told me, 'Listen, you've got to go the police station tomorrow, you've got to go away.' "

Avril Lavigne would "love to" have children.
The 29-year-old singer - who is married to Nickelback rocker Chad Kroeger - definitely wants to have kids one day, but insists she is currently too busy with her work.
She said: "I'm really focused on my career at the moment.
"Down the road, I would love to be a mom, just not right now."
The 'Complicated' hitmaker thinks it is "crazy" she will turn 30 in September, but while she still feels young, she admits she has experienced a lot.
She said: "I feel young but yeah I've lived a lot. I've been doing this music career for over a decade and travelling non-stop. It's kind of crazy. I don't have a plan yet (for my 30th birthday) ... but I'm hoping for a big party."
These days, Avril admits she finds herself returning home to see her family a lot more than she did in the early days of her career.
She explained in an interview with QMI: "When I was a younger, like a teenager on the road, they're not necessarily where your priorities are at.
"But yeah, as I've gotten older I've realised how closer I am to my family more than ever. That's just a part of growing up and stuff like that. I've spent a lot of my time in Los Angeles and just really missed my family and was like, 'You know what? I want to spend more time with them 'cause they're the people at the end of the day that are really there for me, that have my back.' "

Kim Kardashian saves her "twerking" for "the bedroom".
The brunette beauty - who has 12-month-old daughter North with husband Kanye West - told her family she no longer goes to clubs but saves her raunchy dance moves to use in private.
She said: "My twerking skills are for the bedroom, not the club."
Kim was speaking with her mother Kris Jenner, sister Khloe Kardashian and half-sister Kendall Jenner during a Soul Cycle class on last night's (22.06.14) episode of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians', and during the workout session, the showbiz matriarch was the subject of a number of mean comments from her younger daughter.
As Kris started clapping and dancing to the music, Kendall blasted: "Do you always have to be the centre of attention? It's so annoying
"Eww mom, you're so embarrassing, you need to act your age."
She then muttered: "Desperate f***ing w***e."
Kris, 58, didn't appear to hear the comment and later told her daughters: "This reminds me of being in the club, for real. I love the music, I love the energy, everyone's so excited."
Kendall snapped: "Why are you going to clubs? This is so embarrassing."
Kris said she simply liked "being out an about", prompting the teenager to brand her an "embarrassment to the family".
While Kim stayed silent, Khloe laughed at Kendall's mean comments and later criticised her mother for needing more attention following her split from husband Bruce Jenner last October.
She said: "Ever since Bruce moved out, my mom needs so much attention. But sometimes it's like, OK, relax, chill. Everyone knows you're here."
The sisters eventually saw they had been unfair and later apologised to their mother.

Keira Knightley "nearly killed" her husband when he tried to teach her to play guitar.
The stunning actress, who had to learn to play the instrument for her role of Greta in the film 'Begin Again', admits it was a bad idea to let her husband, James Righton from indie band The Klaxons, teach her the basics.
Asked if it was fun being taught by James, she said: "No, I nearly killed him. Don't get your spouse to try to teach you a musical instrument. It's just a terrible idea. I wonder if there's ever been a death by guitar? Do you think anybody's ever done that? I did actually learn to play, but I can't sing and play at the same time."
The 29-year-old actress claims she doesn't know "anything about music at all" and has to concentrate on songs to be interested in them.
She said: "I never really listen to it [music]. If it's on in a room, I can't really hear it. I don't have that sort of brain. And that's another reason I was so interested in doing this film. I'm married to a musician, my best friends are completely obsessed with music, my brother was in bands - it completely surrounds me, but I really have to concentrate to pick it up. If I'm really drunk, then I'll dance, but I won't know what I'm listening to."
The 'Anna Karenina' star appears alongside Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine in the new movie, and Keira claims he was worried about his performance because he is relatively new to acting.
She told HELLO! magazine: "Adam kept saying that he was nervous, but I can't imagine Adam nervous. He has the most incredible confidence. He's a proper entertainer."

Tom Cruise could make a cameo in 'Star Wars: Episode VII'.
The 51-year-old star is close friends with the film's director J.J. Abrams - who helmed 'Mission: Impossible III' - and the pair reportedly met over the weekend to discuss a role for the A-lister.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Tom has been in London for over a week and met up with J.J. and some other people from 'Star Wars' at the weekend.
"On Saturday evening five of them met up for dinner and drinks at the Belgravia Hotel. J.J. loves working with Tom whenever he gets the chance."
The sci-fi production could use some star power after leading actor Harrison Ford, who reprises his role as Han Solo from the original trilogy, was rushed into surgery last week following a freak accident on set.
The 71-year-old actor is recuperating after breaking his leg and won't be available to film for several months.
The source added: "Losing Harrison is going to set things back a little scheduling wise and there's some time to play around with."
Cruise recently starred in a sci-fi summer blockbuster 'Edge of Tomorrow', which earned critical acclaim, and is next set to film the fifth instalment of the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise.
'Star Wars' is currently filming at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
It's rumoured 'Looper' director Rian Johnson could be in line to write and direct the follow-ups, 'Episode VIII' and 'Episode IX'.

Kate Bush spent three days submerged in water in a flotation tank to create special effects for her live shows.
The 55-year-old singer, who will take to the stage for 22 concerts at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London later this year, has hired a movie tank at Pinewood Studios, where she has been practicing a 'lost at sea' scene in which she is rescued by a helicopter.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "During her concerts there will be lots of footage and special effects.
"Kate wants the show to be out of this world and hired the underwater stage which is fitted with a wave machine and special lighting at Pinewood Studios.
"She spent three days in the tank re-shooting scenes and performing her songs. She wanted to create the effect of her floating in the ocean, lost at sea.
"The footage ends with her singing 'Hello Earth' and being saved by a helicopter.
"Special technicians re-created the helicopter by using ceiling fans."
The recording was given the code name 'Navy Blue' and the pop star performed hit songs including 'And Dream of Sheep' and 'Wake Up'.
Despite being underwater, the crew working on the scene were reportedly "gobsmacked" by how powerful Kate's voice was.
One staff member said: "We were all brought to a complete standstill as she sang, her voice is absolutely incredible, it was completely flawless. It was the most beautiful thing some of us had ever heard.
"She may have aged but her voice hasn't changed."
Kate has reportedly "thrown everything" into the highly-anticipated live shows and millions of pounds are being spent on special effects, costumes and staging.
The gigs, which sold out in just 15 minutes, are kicking off on August 26, with seven new dates at the end of September and in October added just last night due to massive pre-sale demand.
Kate's announcement comes after her 'The Tour of Life' shows in 1979, which had until now been the only concert tour of her career.
The six-week tour took her around Britain and mainland Europe and ended at the Hammersmith Odeon - now called the Hammersmith or Eventim Apollo - the venue she has chosen to return to.

Prince is reportedly in talks to play a surprise set at Glastonbury festival this week.
The 'Raspberry Beret' hitmaker, who was rumoured to be headlining the event at Worthy Farm, was ruled out after Metallica, Kasabian and Arcade Fire were announced but sources claim he still wants to surprise festival-goers at the event in Somerset.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Prince wants to show up somewhere as a surprise. He has spent so much time in the UK lately, he'd love to do an impromptu set."
Organiser Michael Eavis and daughter Emily previously said Prince would not be playing the festival this year but they still hope to book him in the future.
The 56-year-old musician, who was bookies' favourite the headline, has been touring the country for the past couple of months with his all-girl female rock band 3RDEYEGIRL.
Meanwhile, Metallica were reportedly in talks to cover a track by the 'Purple Rain' singer but frontman James Hetfield was against the idea.
The source added: "There was the suggestion of them covering Prince, reminiscent of when Jay Z came on to Wonderwall [by Oasis], but it got a firm, 'No', mostly from singer James Hetfield."
EE has installed a bespoke 4G network and card readers for contactless payments at the event this year and the 'Highspeed Herd' will bring festival-goers superfast WiFi. The cows were painted by legendary bin painter, Hank, who has decorated thousands of colourful bins for the festival since the '80s.

Britain's Prince William received a helicopter for his 32nd birthday.
The lucky royal was presented with the ultimate birthday gift from his grandmother Queen Elizabeth yesterday (22.06.14), according to the Daily Mirror newspaper.
William is now the proud joint owner of six-year-old Agusta A109S Grand, which has already been dubbed 'Heirforce One' after the US President's aircraft, and can fly at speeds up to 180mph.
The helicopter will come in handy to whisk the prince and his wife Duchess Catherine off to their royal engagements quickly, so they can make the most of their time at home with their 11-month-old son, Prince George.
The £8 million chopper boasts custom leather seats, carries up to seven people and will be made available for other members of the royal family to use.
It is not known whether the Duke of Cambridge, who is an RAF helicopter pilot, will be manning the aircraft himself.
He began his military training in 2009 at RAF Valley in Anglesey, Wales, but renounced his position with the Search and Rescue Force last year to focus on his family and his royal engagements.

Ellen DeGeneres wins fourth Daytime Emmy
Ellen DeGeneres, 'The Young and the Restless' and Steve Harvey were among the winners at the Daytime Emmy Awards yesterday (22.06.14).
The 56-year-old presenter missed the ceremony but scooped the Outstanding Talk Show - Entertainment prize for the fourth time, having previously taken it home in 2010, 2011 and 2013, while the popular soap picked up six prizes, including the coveted Outstanding Drama Series trophy.
Steve won Outstanding Game Show Host for his work on 'Family Feud', and Outstanding Talk Show - Informative for his self-titled show.
However, he wasn't at the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, which 'Family Feud' executive producer Rushion McDonald revealing he had gone on vacation in Bali as he didn't expect to win.
Elsewhere, Sharon Osbourne caused controversy with an expletive-filled speech when she took to the stage to present an award and urged the audience to lighten up as, for the first time in its history, the ceremony wasn't being televised.
Arriving on stage after 'Entertainment Tonight' executive producer Linda Bell Blue made a lengthy acceptance speech, Sharon said: "Finally, my lord, I feel like I've been her for five f***ing hours and I just got here.
"It's not being televised -- just f***ing get p***ed and have a good time.
"Everyone can throw up in the toilet and go home and f**k everyone they work with."
While the show ended over 10 minutes early, the final winner, 'The Young and the Restless' producer Jill Farren Phelps was unimpressed when host Kathy Griffin ran out midway through her Outstanding Drama Series acceptance speech and cut her short as she spoke of pride in the ownership of the show.
Kathy yelled: "Oh, for Christ's sake with your pride of ownerships. Wrap it up, lady! If you thank your f***ing dog..."
The outspoken presenter had also mocked the fact the show wasn't televised, saying at one point: "It's not even a real show, it's like Twitter, relax."

Katie Couric has got married.
The talk show host tied the knot with John Molner in an intimate ceremony at their home in East Hampton, New York on Saturday (21.06.14) that was attended just by family - including her daughters Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 17, and his children Allie and Henry - and close friends.
Shortly after the ceremony, Katie tweeted: "So excited to make my debut as Mrs. John Molner!"
The 57-year-old presenter wore a Carmen Marc Valvo ivory crystal beaded and embroidered Chantilly lace gown with a halter neck, and John's nieces and nephews were ring bearers and flower girls.
The couple's garden had been decked out especially for the celebration, with centrepieces including garden roses, dahlias, hydrangeas and peonies, while guests were entertained by music from Hank Lane and tucked into a delicious strawberry lemon cake after their meal.
Katie previously revealed she was allowing financier John, 51, arrange their wedding.
She said: "He's the wedding planner!"
The couple got engaged last September after two years of dating and the former 'Today' host previously admitted she was confused when John popped the question.
She said: ''He said that there was a reason he'd brought me there to the beach, and that he loved me and was committed to me, and I said, 'Yeah, I know that, you didn't have to bring me here to tell me that.'
''Finally he said, 'Couric, I'm trying to propose to you,' and I was stunned.''
Explaining how she responded, she laughed: ''It took me a while to say yes, because I was so confused! It took a long time for my brain to process what was going on.''
Katie was previously married to Jay Monahan - the father of her daughters - but she was widowed when he tragically died from colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 42.
