Martha Stewart thinks Blake Lively should focus on being an actress.
The 72-year-old lifestyle guru, who helped the 26-year-old actress plan her wedding to Ryan Reynolds in September 2012, thinks it's "stupid" that the blonde beauty is said to be "becoming the next Martha Stewart" because she is launching her own new lifestyle blog and brand, Preserve.
Asked about the 'Savages' star's new venture, Martha said: "Let her try."
She added: "I don't mean that facetiously! I mean, it's stupid, she could be an actress! Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress? I just did a movie yesterday, though -- I can't even tell you about it -- but I want to be Blake Lively."
The duo became firm friends when the couple moved into Martha's neighbourhood in New York, and she thinks they're "very friendly, very nice people."
She told the Huffington Post: "She moved into my neighbourhood a couple of years ago with Ryan -- before they got married, they bought a house right around the corner from my house. And they started to come over, not to borrow sugar, but just as friends."
But she was surprised by how reserved the former 'Gossip Girl' star is in real life.
She said: "In a way, [Blake's] kind of shy -- not shy on the screen, at all, if you've seen any of Blake's movies -- but very shy in person. But she's a baker and a homemaker and now she's starting her own blog [Preserve] ... I haven't seen it yet."
Blake recently claimed her wedding "was becoming a disaster" before she and Ryan asked her "idol" Martha to oversee the event in South Carolina.
The 'Age of Adaline' star also admitted she had no problem being compared to Martha or Gwyneth Paltrow's website Goop.
She said: "I'm always the first person to defend Gwyneth Paltrow. Or any woman in a position of power, like Martha Stewart or Oprah, who gets burned because they have paved the path for so many other women who are doing something they believe in."

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are planning to get married next July.
The couple, who got engaged earlier this year and are expecting their first child, have reportedly set a date for their wedding next summer, as they want to get acquainted with their baby girl before they tie the knot.
A source close to the former 'That 70s Show' co-stars told gossip website RadarOnline.com: "The wedding will be next July. They want to focus on their daughter first and having it next summer seems logical."
The 36-year-old 'Two and a Half Men' actor's family are very excited about his upcoming nuptials to the 'Black Swan' star, 30.
The insider said: "Ashton's parents are very traditional and they love Mila. They got famous together, so she keeps Ashton grounded and vice-versa."
The couple are eager to have a very small wedding, with just a small number of close friends and family members.
The source said: "They won't have a big production but it will be elaborate. The wedding party will consist of the cast of 'That 70s Show,' as they are all very close. They still hang out with the original cast all the time. Most likely Danny Masterson will be the best man because him and Ashton are like brothers."
The couple, who started dating in 2012, also hope to have a big family in the future.
The insider explained: "They both want a large family and want to start on their next kid shortly after they tie the knot. They are soul mates and know that they will be together forever."

Johnny McDaid and Courteney Cox received several engagement presents in his native Northern Ireland.
The newly-engaged couple were given complimentary souvenirs by excited fans in the city of Derry while exploring the Snow Patrol rocker's hometown with the 50-year-old actress' 10-year-old daughter, Coco Arquette, on Thursday (24.07.14).
The trio reportedly received unique matching rings made by a designer in a local jewellery shop.
An insider said: "[He] thought it would be nice for them to have [it] as a souvenir. They are the loveliest couple and are so down to earth that they did not mind getting photos or talking to us."
The source added: "Coco was great too. She loved the city also and was spending quality time with Johnny's two sisters. They were all so happy."
The famous couple then visited a nearby gift shop, where Coco, whose father is the former 'Friends' star's ex-husband David Arquette, was presented with another special gift after they posed for more pictures with fans.
An eyewitness told UsMagazine.com: "Coco loved it. She was saying how much she loved emeralds, so shop employees gave her an emerald-and-silver shamrock necklace as a souvenir."
Another fan said: "It was such an exciting time for us because our city is small, homey and compact. We never get big stars like Courteney Cox. It was great!"
A source previously revealed the couple are thinking about getting married in Northern Ireland and flew there to celebrate their engagement with Johnny's family.

Elizabeth Banks says she is "very genetically blessed."
The 'Hunger Games' actress, who has sons Felix, three, and Magnus, 20 months, with husband Max Handleman, insists she only recently realised she is attractive, but admits she works hard to maintain her looks.
The 40-year-old star told the latest issue of New You magazine: "I didn't quite believe I was pretty for a long time. I never thought about it."
But she added: "I'm very genetically blessed, I cannot deny it, but I work hard at keeping myself together. Yes, I have nice cheekbones and skinny legs but I can't take any credit for it."
The 'Pitch Perfect' star always puts her family first, but thinks parenting is challenging and there isn't as much pressure on men.
Asked how she balances her career and motherhood, the actress said: "I balance it by always putting my children's health and safety first. Then I feel OK to go and do the job I love."
She added: "It's important to remember that I face the same challenges as many other working parents out there. I don't think dads do it as well as moms, quite frankly, as I don't think there's any pressure on them to balance anything in their lives when it comes to parents being at work. I try not to feel that pressure, either. I actually have a girlfriend who works in the justice department, going after criminals and the mafia, and she's got three kids. Parenting is challenging any way you slice it."

Kim Kardashian claims a "crazy driver" followed her around Los Angeles today (28.07.14).
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star hit back at rumours she was pulled over by police officers in Calabasas, California, insisting she was forced to seek their help, as she felt unsafe because she was being tailed by paparazzi.
The 33-year-old beauty wrote on Twitter: "There's this pic online of me talking to cops telling them I'm being followed by a crazy driver BUT...The headline reads I AM the one getting pulled over...NOT TRUE (sic). All of the paparazzi got pulled over instead."
Kim, who has 13-month-old daughter North with husband Kanye West, was photographed talking to a police officer through the passenger side window of her black Mercedes SUV.
The reality TV star previously blasted paparazzi for driving unsafely around her during her pregnancy last year.
She tweeted at the time: "I wouldn't let the paps get a pic of me today & they threatened my life & said if I continue to block shots that they will make my world dangerous to live in (sic)!
"How dare they threaten my life & unborn child! This has gotten way out of control!
"Let me enjoy this last month of pregnancy please without threats & being scared to leave my home."

Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino has agreed to seek anger management.
The former 'Jersey Shore' star, who was arrested for assaulting his brother, Frank Sorrentino, in their tanning salon last month, struck a plea deal with prosecutors in relation to the incident in court in Middletown, New Jersey today (28.07.14).
The 32-year-old star agreed to undergo 12 weeks of one-on-one anger management after being informed his assault charge will be reduced to a petty crime if he completes the program to the judge's satisfaction, according to gossip website TMZ.com.
After the hearing, the reality TV star admitted that although he isn't looking forward to his punishment, he probably needs help.
Mike was arrested after he and Frank, who also attended the hearing, got into a "fist fight" at their joint business venture, Boca Tanning Salon, in June.
He was taken into custody and booked for simple assault before posting $500 bail.
He claimed at the time that he and Frank merely had a disagreement over how to run their business.
Shortly before the incident, four salon employees called the police when their pay cheques bounced.
The staff members were eventually paid in full after the siblings were warned that criminal charges could be filed against them.
The brothers insisted at the time that it was an "innocent mix up" because the store had changed payroll companies.
It was also recently reported that Mike is being sued by his lawyer, Richard Wolfe, for $29,000 in unpaid legal fees dating from 2009 to 2013.

Freddie Prinze Jr. says Kiefer Sutherland is "the most unprofessional" person he's ever worked with.
The 38-year-old actor, who has two children, Charlotte, four, and Rocky, 22-months, with wife Sarah Michelle Gellar, claims the '24' star, 47, made him want to quit acting completely after he co-starred on the TV series in 2010.
Speaking about his decision to take a hiatus from Hollywood, Freddie told ABC News while promoting his new Disney XD series 'Star Wars Rebels' at Comic-Con in San Diego, California: "I did '24' ... it was terrible. I hated every moment of it. I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped.
"Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That's not me talking trash, I'd say it to his face. I think everyone that's worked with him has said that."

Paris Hilton is dating Josh Upshaw after splitting from River Viiperi.
The 33-year-old socialite, who was spotted kissing the Ralph Lauren model at the beach in Malibu, California on Saturday (26.07.14), reportedly quietly ended her relationship with her long-term boyfriend, 22, "a while ago."
The blonde beauty first met her new love interest, 28, during DT Model Management's second anniversary bash at Pump restaurant in West Hollywood on Thursday night (24.07.14).

Robert Downey Jr. is nervous about welcoming his first daughter into the world.
The 'Iron Man 3' star, who already has a two-year-old son, Exton, with his wife, Susan Downey, recently confirmed she is expecting a baby girl and admits he's been asking all of his friends for advice, as he doesn't know what to expect.
The 49-year-old actor, who also has a 20-year-old son, Indio, with ex-wife Deborah Falconer, told E! News at Comic-Con in San Diego, California over the weekend: "I've never had a daughter before, so I don't know what really prepares a dad. I'm asking around. But I did my part and now I'm just going to show up and do what I'm told."
The 'Avengers' star's eldest son recently checked into a rehab facility after being arrested for cocaine possession and allegedly suffering a relapse.
A source previously said that Robert - who previously batted drug addiction - is "very proud" that Indio decided to seek help.
The insider said: "Robert clearly understands the struggle, and while of course this relapse was very upsetting to him, he is very proud of his son. Indio truly wants to stay clean. And no matter what, his dad will be right there with him."
Robert released a statement the day after Indio's arrest on June 29, claiming his son "likely inherited" his weakness for drugs, but is hopeful he can overcome his issues.

Andy Bell has hit out at Miley Cyrus for being "tacky".
The Erasure lead singer, 50, has criticised the Wrecking Ball hitmaker's stage antics, including her infamous performance with Robin Thicke at MTV's Video Music Awards last year when she twerked alongside him while wearing a flesh-coloured underwear set.
Andy exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "To me it looks a bit tacky ... and then I saw some pictures of her live on stage and I was like 'oh my god', you know, it wasn't very tasteful".
The 'Who Needs Love Like That' singer also made it clear that he has no intentions of following in the 21-year-old star's footsteps.
He said: "She's young, she can get away with it ... I think shocking for the sake of selling stuff is really, really base. I don't think you have to stoop to that to sell stuff."
When asked about his future plans, Andy revealed that Erasure's new album 'The Violet Flame' will be released on September 22, 2014 and can be described as being "very dance, very up-tempo and very uplifting".
He added: "Well we just carry on, next year is going to be our 30th anniversary or the year after. I love working with Erasure and hopefully next year we'll take my new album Torsten [The Bareback Saint] on the road."

Gwen Stefani has been recommending acupuncture to all her friends.
The 44-year-old mother-of-three started having the treatment after getting severe migraines while pregnant with her third son, Apollo, and has told all of her friends to try it.
A source told RadarOnline: "Gwen started doing acupuncture to get rid of the severe migraine headaches that she gets during her pregnancies. All moms are doing it."
"She loves it and shares it with all her mommy friends because of how much it has helped her on so many levels."
Gwen also has sons Kingston, seven and five-year-old Zuma with husband Gavin Rossdale.
Meanwhile, the busy star recently revealed she will make a comeback to New York Fashion Week this September.
The No Doubt singer is adamant she hasn't turned her back on her clothing line, L.A.M.B., and has only been absent from the fashion event in recent years because it clashed with her commitments to her young sons.
She told ELLE.com: "I am going to do some sort of presentation or show this September. The only reason I haven't lately is because it falls when my kids go back to school and I was like, 'Oh, I guess I will go to NYFW and miss my kid's first day of kindergarten.' No.
"This year it falls on a different week so I can be in both places."

Brody Jenner claims that his brother Brandon Jenner and stepsister Kim Kardashian once shared a kiss.
The 30-year-old reality star blurted out the shock news during last night's (27.07.14) episode of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' after he was being teased after seeing Kim pose in a barely-there outfit.
Kim's mother Kris Jenner said: "I feel like Brody is crushing on Kim. I think you've had a crush since you were seven years old."
Brody denied the suggestions and was quick to hit back with a surprising accusation of his own, turning the heat on his elder brother Brandon.
Pointing to his sibling, he said: "That was him and Kim! You're forgetting that. They kissed back in the day."
Brandon, 33, refuted the claim, but Brody continued: "It's on you now! And he knows it's true."
Brandon, for his part, refused to be drawn on the subject and was quick to take the conversation in another direction.
The issue only came to light after Brody accidentally walked in on Kim posing for an intimate photo intended for her husband, hip-hop icon Kanye West.
