Former Corrie star Amanda Barrie set for Benidorm

Amanda Barrie will play a psychic in the new series of 'Benidorm'.
The former 'Coronation Street' actress - who played cafe boss Alma Baldwin for more than 15 years - is set to join the comedy as Psychic Sue, in a role which will reunite her with former soap co-star Sherrie Hewson.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "It's a thrill to have Amanda back on the box. She and Sherrie are a hoot together."
Amanda's character will be seen regularly at the Spanish resort's Blow and Go hair salon, and it is said she will end up in a storyline with Kenneth du Beke, played by Tony Maudsley, and Adam Gillen's character Liam Conroy.
The 78-year-old star is making her TV return, with most fans remembering her 'Corrie' character getting cancer and being killed off in 2001.
Two years after leaving the soap, she appeared in 'Bad Girls' and was also seen as a contestant on Gordon Ramsay's 'Hell's Kitchen' in 2004.
Meanwhile, the next series - due in 2015 - will see Joan Collins back as hotel group boss Crystal Hennessy-Vass, plus guest appearances from Nadia Sawalha and John Challis.

Sharon Osbourne: Serious singers should shun X Factor

Sharon Osbourne has warned serious singers not to sign up for 'The X Factor'.
The showbiz matriarch, who quit the judging panel after one series last year, has revealed she doesn't see the point in artists who write their own material signing up for the ITV singing competition because it will compromise their vision and ruin their credibility.
She admitted during a Q&A session with show host Dermot O'Leary: "Always my mentality when I was on 'X Factor' was, if you were a singer-songwriter you have a definition of who you are, writing songs you love and that suit your voice and who you are.
"For me, if you were a singer-songwriter, do not go on a talent show. It's not going to work. Could you imagine them doing ABBA week, or '80s week? It's just not for you - because you know who you are.
"Talent shows are fantastic and they change people's lives. But they are not for people who are singer-songwriters. It's not the thing to do."
Sharon - whose departure paved the way for Cheryl Cole and Mel B to join show stalwart Louis Walsh on the judging panel, as well as returning head judge Simon Cowell - also confessed the "fleeting" fame 'The X Factor' provides rarely lasts more than a year.
She added: "When you look at the long-term of talent shows, there are very few people who actually sustain any fame. It's fleeting, fleeting, fleeting. People forget who was on last year.
"It's all about the year that they're watching. There have been some superstars, but the majority are forgotten."

Stephanie Pratt for Celebrity Big Brother?

Stephanie Pratt has signed up for 'Celebrity Big Brother'.
The outspoken American could follow in the footsteps of her brother Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag - who appeared on the show in January 2013 - by entering the famous reality TV house in August and producers are hoping she'll be just as controversial as her sibling and his spouse.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "She is sexy but also knows how to be controversial.
"Despite being American she has enough experience of British TV to know just what producers are after.
"And it gives bosses the perfect excuse to bring Spencer and Heidi back over to support her."
Stephanie rose to fame along with Spencer and Heidi on MTV reality show 'The Hills' and she has now become a staple on 'Made in Chelsea' after dating lothario star Spencer Matthews.
'CBB' bosses will be hoping the blonde starlet opens up about her troubled past which includes a conviction for drink-driving.
Stephanie is just the latest name linked to the new series of 'CBB', following rumours Hollywood actor Gary Busey and 'Gogglebox' star George Gilbey could appear on the Channel 5 reality show.
Katie Price's cheating husband Kieran Hayler has reportedly turned down a £200,000 offer to enter the house.

Dean Fagan won’t watch Corrie kisses

Dean Fagan won't watch his steamy 'Coronation Street' kisses.
The actor's alter-ego Luke Britton is set to lock lips with a drunken Carla Barlow (Alison King) in tonight's (07.07.14) episode of the ITV soap, but Dean admits he won't be tuning in because he doesn't want to upset his girlfriend, Louise Pridding.
He told The Sun newspaper: "My girlfriend ridicules me about playing a ladies' man. Of course I'm not like that in real life but it's still going to be weird seeing your partner chatting up other girls and I'd never force her to watch me doing a kissing scene.
"We don't watch 'Coronation Street' together for that reason. If it's just pure dialogue I would ask what she thought -- she's my biggest critic and I really appreciate her opinion.
"But we'll most likely give the scenes with Carla a miss!"
Dean - who took on the role of mechanic Luke six months ago - also receives plenty of feedback from his father Lee, who is a real-life mechanic.
He added: "He lets me know if I'm doing something wrong!"
The hunky actor's 'Corrie' contract was recently extended and he admits it's a "privilege" to appear on the soap.
He said: "It's a privilege and a pressure to get it right, but it's a fantastic feeling and I'm very grateful to the show for letting me be on it."

Iron Maiden want their old gear in an interactive museum

Bruce Dickinson says Iron Maiden would consider opening an interactive museum.
The legendary rocker insisted the group wouldn't want to put their memorabilia behind a glass cabinet where fans aren't able to interact with the history of the band, and joked their mascot Eddie isn't "that sensitive".
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "We've got loads of gear kicking around. I don't want it to end up in some po-faced museum, with people in white suits saying 'Don't touch this'.
"I donated a jacket to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame and it was locked away in a glass cabinet miles away from your eyes. Eddie's not that sensitive."
Meanwhile, he blasted London, UK for its rules surrounding live events and insisted the band would rather play festivals like Download and Sonisphere than have to agree to certain limits at Hyde Park.
He said: "Knebworth and Donnington are great. They let you make a racket which is all the fans want to hear.
"We considered playing Hyde Park again. The thought of filling central London with Iron Maiden fans is brilliant.
"However, the noise restrictions at Hyde Park are so silly. If somebody has a loud conversation you have to shush them."
The band's fellow heavy rockers Black Sabbath played at the outdoor venue on Friday (04.07.14), and while Bruce admitted it was their choice, Iron Maiden wouldn't have taken the "tame" option.
He said: "Sabbath made their decision, but we looked at it and thought it's too tame."

McBusted arrive at Hyde Park show in ‘time machine’

McBusted arrived on stage in a Delorean 'time machine' on Sunday night (06.07.14).
The super-group - comprising McFly members Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd, and Busted's Matt Willis and James Bourne - were lowered onto the stage at London's Hyde Park in the vehicle, made famous as the time travel device in the 'Back to the Future' movies following a video montage looking back on Busted's career highlights, before the six-piece launched straight into 'Air Hostess'.
Despite the heavy rain, the crowd's spirits couldn't be dampened as they danced and sang along to both group's most famous hits, including 'You Said No', Five Colours in her Hair' - during which a rainbow appeared over the stage as the weather began to clear - and 'Obviously'.
Midway through the set, the group headed to a second, UFO-shaped stage in the middle of the Barclaycard British Summertime crowd to perform several tracks, before returning to the main stage to end the performance.
The group left the stage after 'What I Go To School For' - which was performed to a backdrop of saucy doodles and cartoons on the big screen - and an excerpt of Tom's infamous wedding song was played, but the video was edited to have James and Matt crash the speech and they then all returned to perform 'Crashed the Wedding', all donning wedding dresses, apart from drummer Harry who was topless except for a bowtie.
Dougie then discovered he couldn't get his dress off so decided to finish the set in the gown, and after declaring they wanted to play the whole gig again, the group launched back into 'Air Hostess' for a second time.
They closed their set with 'All About You' and 'Year 3000'.
Earlier in the day, James had joined Backstreet Boys - who had hailed him as their "biggest fan" - to sing 'I Want it That Way' towards the end of their hit-laden set.
Other performers included The Vamps and Diversity, while performances from Lawson and Five were cancelled due to continuing technical difficulties in the Barclaycard Theatre.

Mel Gibson: Filmmaking is tough

Mel Gibson thinks the film industry is becoming more "difficult".
The actor has a stake in production company Icon Productions, but hasn't been investing in as many projects recently because it's not always "cost effective" to make great independent movies.
Speaking at the Karlovy Vary Intl. Film Festival, he told Variety.com: "I've still got Icon, and if I see something that is really cool and worthwhile doing, and cost effective... Like the other independents, I'm not in there to get burned. But it's becoming more difficult, put it that way, for everybody."
Gibson lamented the major fact studios are putting all their money into blockbusters and shunning independent movies, comparing the process of trying to get an indie film green-lit to being "raped and beaten".
He said: "It's just the way things are. There's been a big shift in the way things used to be. I mean, there aren't as many films being done at the studios, and they tend to gravitate toward the big blockbustery things with pyrotechnics and stuff like that, which is valid. They are entertaining.
"I think stories of more substance are not as sought-after or fostered as much. And of course those things are left largely to the independent filmmakers. For the independent filmmakers, traditionally, it's been more difficult to get distribution, and to get back what you put in. It's just more difficult. And there are a lot of gatekeepers along the way.
"It's like anything. There are a lot more hurdles to overcome. You are going to get robbed and raped and beaten. It's just part of the game. There are a lot of sharks in the water."
Mel picked up the Crystal Globe for outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema at the film festival on Friday (04.07.14).

David Arquette proposed twice

David Arquette had to propose to Christina McLarty twice.
The 'Scream' actor popped the question to his girlfriend - with who he has two-month-old son Charlie - while having dinner with their son and his daughter Coco, 10, in Malibu last week but the entertainment reporter initially turned him down as she was embarrassed there were so many people watching her.
Christina told Aspen Peak magazine's Erin Lentz: "We were at a restaurant in Malibu..."
David interrupted: "I take her outside . . . and then I ask her, and she's like, 'No, what are you doing? There are so many people watching!'
"I had a do-over, and it worked."
Despite her initial embarrassment, Christina, 33, is delighted to be marrying the "love of her life".
She said recently: "He is the love of my life and I love him and my family so much. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!"
It was revealed last week that the 42-year-old actor had sought permission from Christina's father before popping the question.
A source said: "He flew to Las Vegas to ask Christina's dad Bud McLarty for permission [to marry Christina] a while ago, so it's been in the works."
The happy news came just days after David's ex-wife Courteney Cox, 50, announced her own engagement to Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid, 37.
However, the former couple - who split in 2010 after almost 11 years of marriage - had reportedly discussed tying the knot with their new partners beforehand.
An insider said: "David was just waiting for the right time. He and Courteney both talked about taking the next step in their relationships ... They both want what's best for each other."

Liam Hemsworth: Miley is my best friend

Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus will always be "best friends".
The 'Hunger Games' actor was overheard gushing about his former fiancee - who he split from last September after a three-year on/off relationship - during dinner with friends in Portofino, Italy, last week and told pals they will always share a strong bond.
According to an insider, Liam, 24, told his group that he and the 'Wrecking Ball' star would "always be best friends" and they had "an instantaneous and powerful connection."
The source added to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "Liam kept raving about how amazing she was, how much they clicked and understood everything about each other."
And the hunky star went on to tell his friends how Miley had kept many of their shared belongings when they ended their 18-month engagement.
The source said: "He also said they bought a lot of furniture but he had to leave it behind when they broke up and he got his new place, which was furnished."
Earlier this year, 21-year-old Miley - who shot to fame starring in Disney show 'Hannah Montana' admitted she feels more "free" since splitting from Liam.
She said: "When I went through a really intense breakup - you know, I was engaged - and when I was with him or when I was on Disney, the thing that gave me the most anxiety was not knowing what to do with myself when Disney wasn't there to carry me any more or if I didn't have him. And now I'm free of both of those things, and I'm fine.
"Like I lay in bed at night by myself and I'm totally OK, and that's so much stronger than the person three years ago, who would have thought they would have died if they didn't have a boyfriend."
