Serge Pizzorno slams dieting musicians

Serge Pizzorno has hit out at musicians who eat broccoli and go on diets.
The Kasabian guitarist admits not everyone enjoys "doing heroin" and downing "50 bottles of whisky", but insists there is something "not honest" about band members who spend their time eating healthily and shopping on online auction website eBay rather than partying.
He said: "At festivals we have these dressing rooms with huge speakers and everyone comes to party.
"The ones that are snobby and turn their noses up are usually the ones eating chicken and broccoli to stay thin.
"There's just something not honest about them. It's the eBayers and people on diets."
The 33-year-old star insists musicians who diet to try to stay thin often get plenty of positive publicity, but he doesn't think that would be the case if people "knew the truth" about them.
He added to Metro newspaper: "They're usually the press darlings that everyone loves - if they knew the truth, maybe they wouldn't."
Serge is known to enjoy the odd beer and recently revealed he wrote Kasabian's song 'Treat' about his "evil twin" after sinking a few alcoholic beverages.
He said: "The lyric about my evil twin is that moment when you have one beer and you make certain decisions.
"After two beers decisions can still be made but after five or six beers you are a completely different person. But there is something amazing about the other person, your evil twin.
"Although he, or she, will get you into more trouble than you are ever likely to get into, you do buzz off that other person a bit."

Bruce Springsteen auctions $300k lasagne dinner

Bruce Springsteen auctioned a lasagne dinner at his home for $300,000.
The 65-year-old entertainer raised $600,000 at the 8th annual Stand Up For Heroes charity concert after selling the opportunity to have a meal at his home as well as a package which included a one-hour guitar lesson, a ride in the sidecar of his motorcycle and a guitar.
Speaking on stage, the 'Born in the USA' singer joked: "You may have a guitar lesson or simply waste my time."
Bruce - also known as The Boss - originally offered the guitar and lesson for a starting price of $75,000.
The $600,000 sum he made for the charity - which supports military service members and their families upon their return - came about as fans showed plenty of enthusiasm and the musician decided to auction off more and more items.
The event, also attended by comedians John Oliver, Jon Stewart and Louis C.K., saw a fan pledge to offer $300,000 for the lasagne dinner if another bidder increased his price to $300,000 for the whole package, which he duly did.
The function at Madison Square Garden in New York City raised more than $1 million, more than half of which was raised by Bruce, who performed 'Dancing in the Dark' and 'Growin' Up'.

Anne Hathaway’s hungry husband arguments

Anne Hathaway only argues with her husband on an empty-stomach.
The 31-year-old star admitted she tries not to spend too much time away from Adam Shulman - who she married in September 2012 - despite her hectic work schedule, and even when she does see him they very rarely quarrel unless she is feeling peckish.
The brunette beauty - who famously slimmed down for the role of Fantine in 'Les Miserables' - said: "We try not to go more than two weeks without seeing each other. After that everybody just gets grumpy, you start fighting over really unimportant things.
"So, actually, we don't have fights, I have a lot of 'hangry' [hungry and angry] moments where I'm on the verge of having a fight and then he feeds me and I realise everything's going to be fine."
The Academy Award-winning actress admitted she is "blown away" by how much being married to the 33-year-old actor has altered her life and made her feel safe.
When asked on ITV show 'Lorraine' if marriage had changed her, she said: "It totally has and I did not expect that. Neither of us did. We were very open with each other and when we were getting married we thought we were just doing it for tradition and we really went in thinking it would be pieces of paper.
"But I didn't know who I was going to be as a married person and there is a centering to it and I was allowing myself to really feel safe in a way that I never let myself feel since I was a child, you know. And I've been really blown away at how much life it's given me."

Khloe Kardashian reaches out to Lamar Odom

Khloe Kardashian appeared to reach out to estranged husband Lamar Odom by posting a heartfelt quote about closure on his birthday.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' took to her Instagram page yesterday (06.11.14) - when the basketball player turned 35 - to post a picture of a piece entitled 'Closure' which seems to admit the pair didn't say good bye to each other when they split.
The quote read: "Closure: Like time suspended, a wound unmended - you and I. We had no ending, said no good-bye. For all my life, I'll wonder why."
Earlier in the day, Khloe - who is rumoured to have reconciled with rapper French Montana following their recent split - is said to have called Lamar to wish him happy birthday.
A source told HollywoodLife: "They always talk, and [Lamar's birthday] was no different. They didn't talk about her boyfriend. It was a very brief, 'Hello, happy birthday,' conversation because she was on the run."
This comes after it was recently reported Khloe - who has filed court papers to dissolve her four-year marriage to the hunk - wanted closure following their split in December after months of rumours he was addicted to cocaine and cheated on her with multiple women.
A source said: "Without an official divorce, there's no closure for her."
Lamar has previously been accused of refusing to sign the divorce papers in the hope of repairing his and Khloe's marriage, but he is thought to be gearing up to put pen to paper on the legal documents to end their nuptials.
The source said: "Khloe knows where he is. She just hasn't made a move or told him flat out what she wants to do. Lamar wants her with him but only if she wants to be. It's got to be mutual. If not, he's cool with letting her go for good."

Nick Mason: Waters will be ‘charmingly disapproving’ about album

Nick Mason believes Roger Waters will be "charmingly disapproving" about the new Pink Floyd album.
The 70-year-old drummer has reconvened with guitarist-and-singer David Gilmour to make group's first new LP for 20 years, 'The Endless River'.
Mason is sure his ex-bandmate Roger Waters - who left the prog rock band in 1985 - will be unimpressed by the album, in the nicest possible way.
Speaking about his possible reaction, the musician quipped: "I think Roger will be charmingly disapproving."
Mason insists he and Gilmour never considered inviting Waters to play on 'The Endless River' because most of the music was originally recorded with late keyboard player Rick Wright for 1994 release 'The Division Bell', which the bassist didn't play on.
It has been claimed that Waters was a domineering force over the band, but Mason insists he is still his good friend, despite their issues over the years.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, he said: "To be fair, I occasionally make cracks about Roger being like Stalin. But in reality, it's a joke. Roger is one of my oldest, dearest friends. I would have loved to have had him playing on this album.
"It would have been great but this was all about 'The Division Bell' and all about Rick. I don't think Rick would have found it easy to come back to that (working with Roger). So it was never really an option now."
'The Endless River' - which comes out today (07.11.14) in some countries and on November 10 in the UK - has become the most pre-ordered album on Amazon.co.uk and Mason admits he does still feel a lot of pride about the achievement, even though he has enjoyed success for decades.
He said: "Part of me wants to say, 'I'm old enough to have grown out of all that nonsense.' But once you get to 60, and you're still not tired of showing off, it means it's never going away. I do worry about what people will think of it and I don't want my kids to be embarrassed by having to deal with a father who is out there selling some old tat."

Sam Smith ‘speechless’ at London show

Sam Smith performed an emotional homecoming show in London on Thursday night (06.11.14).
The 22-year-old singer took to the stage at the sold-out Eventim Apollo to perform hits from his critically-acclaimed debut album 'In the Lonely Hour', and seemed overwhelmed by the excited audience reaction.
Shortly after arriving on stage, he exclaimed: "I'm completely speechless right now. I've managed to keep my cool until now but I'm s****ing myself right now. Being here today is very, very surreal so thank you for that."
The musician - dressed in a slick suit - was accompanied on stage by an eight-piece backing band which included a string quartet, helping him to create reworked versions of his hits.
The singer/songwriter played tracks including 'Leave You Lover', 'I'm Not The Only One', and a version of his breakthrough hit 'Money on my Mind' which was remixed with the 1991 single 'Finally' by CeCe Peniston.
Talking to crowds at the iconic venue, the star also joked that he was glad people liked his music, because some of the songs he made when he was younger were "awful".
He quipped: "When I got signed two years ago I thought I was Lady Gaga or Beyonce and I was making awful music. I hope it never gets out!"
Elsewhere in his set, the soul singer performed a cover version of Whitney Houston's classic single 'How Will I Know', Disclosure track 'Latch', and a toned down piano-led version of his Naughty Boy collaboration 'La La La'.
The soul singer ended his set with his chart-topping single 'Stay With Me' adding: "I hope you know how much it means that you're all here tonight!"
Sam will perform at the venue again this evening (07.11.14).

Rita Ora dubbed ‘sensational’ by Hollywood big wig

Harvey Wenstein has dubbed "sensational" Rita Ora his "biggest discovery".
The Hollywood veteran - who produced the Academy Award-winning film 'Shakespeare in Love' - has given the 23-year-old 'Hot Right Now' singer his seal of approval after they worked together on his new film 'Southpaw', which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal.
He said: "Rita Ora did a sensational job.
"Her scene is breathtaking, because she's a very glamorous, beautiful woman.
"But we did the opposite, we made her up to look like a tough junkie.
"She is heartbreakingly real and wonderful and acting opposite Jake - who is riveting in this movie - she holds her own and then some."
Clearly smitten with the singer, Harvey told MailOnline: "I will work with Rita again and again and again. Personally, I think she's my biggest discovery as an actress this year."
'Southpaw' has an all-star cast, featuring Rachel McAdams, Naomie Harris and Forest Whitaker.
Rita has already made a name for herself in the industry after she finished filming scenes for the highly-anticipated movie 'Fifty Shades of Grey', which stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, and is scheduled for release in February 2015.

Prince Harry misses being an Apache pilot

Britain's Prince Harry misses being an Apache helicopter pilot.
The 30-year-old royal quit the Army Air Corps in January in exchange for a desk job organising military events such as the Invictus Games for wounded warriors, but while reminiscing about his time in Afghanistan with veterans of the conflict at a Buckingham Palace reception, he's said to have confessed to missing his former position.
Flight Sergeant Lee Renard - who served three tours of duty in Iraq and eleven in Afghanistan between 2006 and 2014 - revealed: "He said he enjoyed the flying and he missed it."
Reiterating the Prince's feelings, Flight Lieutenant Lance Levin - who is a Chinook helicopter pilot - added to the Daily Express newspaper: "He said he enjoys his flying and would like to return at some point."
It has been reported in the past that Harry, who is a Captain in the Army, could return to flying Apaches once he's finished his current posting, however, royal sources insist it is unlikely.
While the flame-haired royal loved the five months he spent posted in Afghanistan in winter 2012-2013, he's now said to be focused on his current job organising events.
Harry and his brother Prince William were joined by their grandmother, the Queen, their uncle, the Duke of York and Princess Alexandra at the reception for 400 guests to thank those who have supported wounded, injured and sick service personnel.

Jennifer Lopez felt like heart had been torn from chest

Jennifer Lopez felt like her heart had been "torn" out of her chest after her split from Ben Affleck.
The 'I Luh Ya Papi' hitmaker has spoken in her new book, 'True Love', about the devastation she experienced following her break up with 'Gone Girl' actor Ben, whom she split from in 2004 just days before they were to be married.
She wrote: "It felt like my heart had been torn out of my chest."
Explaining her feelings during a talk about her memoir in New York last night (06.11.14), she said: "I had breakups and things but I'd never felt heartbroken until we called off that wedding. It was devastating to me, maybe because it was so public.
"I really felt like I had found somebody great and he had found somebody great and we thought we could make it work."
The 45-year-old beauty - who had previously been married to actor and producer Ojani Noa and actor and choreographer Cris Judd - went on to marry Marc Anthony just months after her split, but they too divorced this year.
And she's now opened up following the news that the father of her six-year-old twins - Max and Emme - has reportedly become engaged to 26-year-old model Shannon De Lima.
The New York Daily News newspaper reports her as saying: "I'm happy for him."
However, Jennifer insists she will remain single until she feels comfortable being on her own.
She added: "You have to heal on your own and that's what I've been learning. You should be happy all by yourself. For so long we're taught there's a fairy tale that's supposed to happen but that's not how it goes ... Someone great will come along but I'll be whole first."

Lily Allen praises husband for support during stillbirth

Lily Allen has thanked praised her husband for helping her cope with the death of her still-born son.
The 29-year-old singer has thanked "loving partner" Sam Cooper, 37, after he supported her when she struggled to deal with her stillbirth in November 2010.
Speaking in an emotional interview, Lily said: "I think it's difficult for anybody regardless of what world they live in and actually what I took home from that experience was ... even though it was the most unfortunate thing that can ever happen to a person, I was very fortunate in the sense that I have a loving partner to go home to and share that experience with."
She also admitted she has learned to "count her blessings" following the tragic ordeal.
Speaking on ITV's 'The Jonathan Ross Show' in an interview airing on Saturday (08.11.14), he said: "There are many women - [there are] 17 stillbirths in the UK every day - that go home and they don't have that support, they have to go home and deal with that on their own so I am kind of in a bit of a ... count-my-blessings scenario."
Lily - who is mother to two-year-old Ethel Mary and 22-month-old Marnie Rose - also hit out at critics who claimed she is more interested in partying after she was spotted hanging out with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, without her daughters in tow.
She told Jonathan: "The way that they had sort of insinuated it was that, 'She's a mother of two, abandoning her children'. I'm in a car with a father-of-two and at no point has anyone alluded to him abandoning his children! There is a double standard."
'The Jonathan Ross Show' airs at 9.45pm tomorrow on ITV.

Mel B admits to experimenting with women

Mel B experimented with women "for a few years".
The 'X Factor' judge - who married her husband Stephen Belafonte in 2007 - has admitted she was sexually interested in other women for a number of years, but insists she was never a lesbian.
When asked about straight women who had become lesbians, the 39-year-old singer - who rose to worldwide prominence as part of the Spice Girls in the 1990s - said: "Yeah. I was one of those for a few years."
Pressed by TV chat show host Alan Carr whether she was a lesbian, Mel added: "I would not call it that. I was just one of those ladies. Now I'm happily married."
The mother-of-three also revealed her naughty side during the interview, admitting she wasn't wearing any underwear and likes to doodle rude pictures while filming 'The X Factor'.
Speaking on talk show 'Alan Carr: Chatty Man', she said: "I do drawings of stuff that get me into trouble a lot. I show it off to Cheryl and she laughs and I show it to Louis and he goes, 'Wow, yeah.' I will have to ban myself from having paper now as you now all bloody know."
Mel also recalled the time she found herself having a conversation with a half-naked Simon Cowell in his dressing room.
The curvaceous star said: "His dressing room is stunning. It is like what Liberace would have. He has got a bath, it is gorgeous.
"I was sitting there with a cup of tea and he walked out of his bathroom with his towel on and he said, 'Oh, hello darling, I have just come out of the bath'.
"I said, 'Can we talk about the show please?' He just sat there in his towel."
