Abel Ferarra: Welcome to New York will surprise

Director Abel Ferrara thinks movie fans will be surprised by new film 'Welcome to New York'.
The flick has been inspired by the downfall of Dominique Strauss-Khan - the French economist and politician, who was accused of sexually assaulting a hotel employee in 2011 - but Ferrara warned moviegoers not to expect a documentary-like production.
He explained to ShortList magazine: "In the beginning when we were screening it, I started sensing people were coming thinking it was going to be a documentary on Strauss-Khan. And the film is not a documentary - this is a film made by me and my guys, with Gerard [Depardieu] and Jacqueline [Bisset] in it. And that's a separate entity."
The filmmaker warned audiences not to bother seeing the movie if they want a documentary-style piece.
He added: "So it needed Gerard saying, very straight up, 'I'm not playing the guy, because I don't respect the guy.' Ya dig?
"What you're seeing is a performance. You come here to watch the Dominique Strauss-Khan story, you're coming to the wrong f*****g theatre. You'd better leave now."
The film is strongly disliked by Anne Sinclair, who was Strauss-Khan's wife at the time of the scandal.

Jada Pinkett Smith worried about changing her name

Jada Pinkett Smith was worried how her fans would react when she took Will Smith's last name.
The 'Madagascar' actress, who has daughter Willow, 13, and son Jaden, 16, with her husband of 17 years, feared she would be criticised for failing to be an "independent woman" by sticking to tradition and changing her name after they tied the knot in 1997.
In a new blog post on her Facebook page, she wrote: "The dilemma you face whether to change your last name to your husband's is a timely one. I have always believed that an empowered woman is one that can stand on her own two feet and has the strength to trust her personal code of womanhood and not necessarily the code that a collective creates as the standard to which an independent woman must adhere to, to actually be identified as...independent."
She eventually decided to add Smith to her original moniker, Jada Pinkett.
She added: "Each woman carries a different code so that she may never be replicated and is assured her individuality and freedom. As long as your decision reflects your personal code towards building the woman you want to be in this world...congrats...job well done."
The 42-year-old actress recently gushed about her marriage to Will and how it has "evolved."
She said: "Will, to me, encompasses everything. It's almost as if calling him 'my husband' is too small of a word for what he means in my life... I think I had a very stuck idea of what a husband looks like, what a wife should be. Once I broke all of that, a whole new world opened for me and man, oh, man, I got to see him in all his glory. And so that's what it's evolved into. And I'm just ecstatic about it."

Julia Roberts thought she was the prettiest

Julia Roberts used to think she was prettier than Halle Berry.
The 'August: Osage County' star admits she used to be very competitive with other actresses, but believes it was a "godsend" that she was never won accolades or titles for her appearance because it helped her to stay grounded.
The 46-year-old star told the September issue of InStyle magazine: "I think I've always sort of been on the more boyish spectrum of girls. For example, I've never been chosen as 'one of the top-five hottest actresses in a bikini.' And honestly, it's a godsend. When I was younger, I'd think, 'Oh, I'm the prettiest one. It's not Halle Berry. It's not!' But it is, you know?"
The Oscar-winning actress, who has nine-year-old twins, Hazel and Phinneaus, and seven-year-old son Henry with husband Danny Moder, insists that her life isn't glamorous away from the spotlight and she still struggles to juggle everything.
Explaining why she hates being asked, "How do you do it all?" she said: "Because, (a) I'm not nearly as busy as people think, (b) half of everything just doesn't get done -- as long as no one is in tears, nobody smells bad and everyone's sleeping peacefully, I've done my job -- and (c) I have a supportive group of girlfriends, a great husband and an understanding family. The rest gets done with grit, spit and a whole lot of duct tape."

I thought he was gonna arrest me every five seconds, so it obviously didn't go anywhere after that."
