Queen Elizabeth’s old car sold

A Land Rover formerly owned by Britain's Queen Elizabeth has sold for almost £12,000.
The 24-year-old vehicle - which was nicknamed the Chuck Wagon by the monarch - has been bought at auction from its current owner, Ken Mitchell, who lives on the Isle of Lewis by a Californian car dealer.
Ken said: "It goes very nicely. But it was very expensive on diesel. I wanted something cheaper to run."
The vehicle was used by the queen and her family on shoots and picnic on the Balmoral estate. It was specially built for the royals with a higher-than-normal roof in order to carry deer killed during hunts.
Ken believes the new owner, of Big Bear Lake, will restore the green vehicle to its original beige colour and sell it for up to £40,000.
The Land Rover is one of two that was commissioned by the royal estate.
Since it was sold by the royals, it has had a bed, sink and cooker installed in the back.
It also has a detractable rear step and a unique 'traffic light system' which was fitted in 1979 and allowed the queen to signal for the driver to stop, slow, or start at the touch of a button.

Ed Sheeran for Wembley Stadium show in 2015

Ed Sheeran will perform at London's Wembley Stadium in July 2015.
The 23-year-old singer will play his first stadium headline show at the iconic building on July 10 2015, which will be the Grammy nominee's final European show in 2015.
Commenting on the announcement, he said: "I've made no secret recently of my ambition to play Wembley Stadium on my own in front of 80,000 people, so I am absolutely over the moon to be able to announce it's going to happen next summer.
"It's going to be amazing, I just can't wait."
The show will mark the end of the crooner's world tour in support of his triple-platinum certified second album 'X' which was released in June. The record - which features the hit singles 'Sing' and 'Thinking Out Loud' - has been named as the biggest and fastest-selling record of 2014 in the UK, having topped the charts for eight consecutive weeks.
Tweeting about the announcement, he added: "If you missed my big announcement it was that I'm ending the multiple tour at Wembley stadium next year playing solo, should be pretty fun (sic)."
Earlier this year, Ed - who features in the Band Aid 30 single which premiered on 'The X Factor' last night (16.11.14) - sold out a string of 21 arena shows, playing to 275,000 people.
The Brit Award-winner will return to London for his final show of the tour after completing dates across Europe, US, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Tickets for Ed Sheeran at Wembley Stadium will be available to O2 priority customers at 9am on November 26, with general sale tickets being released at 9am on November 28

Slipknot to headline Download

Slipknot are to headline Download Festival 2015.
The 'Wait and Bleed' hitmakers are thrilled to be returning to Donnington Park for the third time on the opening night of the rock festival, which runs between June 12-14.
Frontman Corey Taylor said: "Being invited back to Download always feels like coming home. Headlining Download, for the 3rd time, feels like the culmination of a life's dream. It's an honour, a privilege and we're all looking forward to it."
Joining Slipknot as main support act for June 12 will be Judas Priest, while Black Stone Cherry and Five Finger Death Punch will also perform that night.
The other two headliners are expected to be announced later this week.
The 2014 festival saw Avenged Sevenfold, Aerosmith and Linkin Park top the bill.
And fans who don't wait to wait until June to see Slipknot will be able to see them perform in January when they tour the UK with Korn on their 'Prepare For Hell' tour, which kicks off in Sheffield on January 16.
The group will also perform in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Cardiff and Nottingham before finishing up in Birmingham on January 27.

S Club 7considering new music

S Club 7 are considering recording new music.
The seven-piece pop group - comprised of Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearitt, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett - revealed today (17.11.14) that they will take to the stage for the first time in 12 years for a tour of UK arenas in 2015, and have also suggested that they may record new tracks or an album if the series of shows is successful.
When asked if they would like to work on new tracks together, Jo told BANG Showbiz: "Who knows? Yeah?"
Paul continued: "We have nothing planned at the moment for new music.
"We're going to concentrate on the hits that got us where we are, the ones that are classics with the fans, but you never know."
Former 'Strictly Come Dancing' contestant, Rachel, added: "Watch this space!"
On whether the 'Don't Stop Movin' hitmakers would be performing any of their individual solo tracks on their tour, Bradley explained it was an idea which they are still thinking about.
He explained: "I think a lot of this stuff is up for discussion, we've still got to walk about what songs we want to perform."
Paul added: "I think in the classic social media thing of the way things are these days, we're allowing the fans to say and give us advice, to say what they want to hear."
The band split up in 2003 following a career which saw them release four studio albums and rack up 10 million global record sales, but Rachel went on to have a successful solo career with the 2003 album 'Funky Dory' and 2005's 'Come and Get It', spawning hit singles 'Some Girls' and 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex'.
On whether she has any plans to make any more solo hits, Rachel said: "You never know! At the moment we're all together concentrating on this, and as Bradley said we haven't worked out how it will work with solo numbers and things, but I would love to. I guess we'll just see what happens."

Ed Speleers had to be taught to walk for Downton Abbey

Ed Speleers had to be taught to walk properly in 'Downton Abbey'.
The 26-year-old actor stars as footman Jimmy Kent in the ITV period drama and the series' historical advisor Alastair Bruce has revealed he had to teach him to walk as a proper servant would have done in that era.
Alastair exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "He and I spent a long time working together. I had to teach him to walk straight. You know, young men now walk like this [slouches across the room], whereas then they walked like this [demonstrates stiff walk with a straight back].
"Trying to get people to do that is quite difficult. People have been shaped differently by their schooling, their education, their environment, their families."
And while Alastair admits it's difficult to criticise stars including Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham), Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith Crawley) and Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary Crawley), he's dedicated to ensuring the programme remains as historically accurate as possible.
He explained: "I think what the actors probably find aggravating is, it's very tough delivering a performance, you've got the cameras on you, you've got to remember your lines.
"When someone comes in and says, you need to hold your glass at that angle, you need to be more upright and try and turn like that - that can be aggravating because it's tough to deliver what you've got to do."
'Downton Abbey' series 5 is released on Blu-Ray and DVD from November 17 from Universal Pictures (UK).

Peter Capaldi ‘can’t understand’ sex symbol status

Peter Capaldi "can't believe" his sex symbol status.
The 56-year-old actor, who plays the Doctor in the BBC sci-fi series 'Doctor Who', admitted that he has struggled to understand why fans of the cult TV show find him so desirable, as he confirmed that the only love in his life is his wife, Elaine Collins.
He said: "I genuinely can't believe it. The only person that I want to love me is my wife and that's the only person that I love. But if people enjoy my profile in the privacy of their own home, well then..."
The modest actor also suggested that his fans are so excited to meet him because the role of the Doctor has belonged to so many famous actors, including Tom Baker and his predecessor Matt Smith.
Peter said: "You get met with so many smiles but really it's because of the part. In a way they meet Matt and Tom.
"It's a little exposing, and some days you feel vulnerable - but it's been fabulous."
Speaking at a fundraiser for the London Lesbian & Gay Switchboard, which was hosted by 'Doctor Who' writer Mark Gatiss, Peter explained that he still has to deal with mundane jobs, such as sorting out his car.
He told the Metro newspaper: "I still have to go and do the shopping, and have to do my MOT and all that dreary stuff, but the other stuff is just absolutely extraordinary."

Jay James: I knew it was my ‘time to go’

Jay James knew it was his "time to go" before he was voted off 'The X Factor' last night (16.11.14).
The former Royal Navy fitness instructor admits he wasn't shocked to be sent home after going up against Stevi Ritchie in the sing-off and is feeling positive about his future after the "incredible experience".
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I kind of had an instinct it was coming ... I genuinely feel really, really positive about the whole thing. In a nutshell, I was gutted to go but at the same time I've had an incredible time and an incredible experience."
The 31-year-old wannabe popstar also claimed he was starting to struggle with the pressure of being in the limelight, but insisted he was more than supportive of his fellow contestants.
Speaking about recent reports that branded him a bully, James said: "I'm a massive people person so to hear that complete bulls**t did affect me a little bit because I was like, 'Hang on, that's completely not what I'm about'.
"I've seen others go through that during my time in the house and I took on a bit of a father role at the house, weirdly, so I saw people go through that and I was the first to shout, 'Don't worry about it, it doesn't mean anything'."
But James admits the rumours added to his feeling that his time on the show was over.
The father-of-one added: "It almost confirmed to me that it might be my time to go now because I'm not down for that sort of stuff, I'm not that type of a person. So yeah, weirdly, it was another little sign to me that I should take the positives and go and do some good things."

Michael Pattermore raised £100,000 in honour of late wife Lynda Bellingham

Michael Pattemore has raised £100,000 for Action Against Cancer in honour of his late wife Lynda Bellingham.
Michael returned to the set of 'Loose Women', where his late wife used to work as a panellist, to reveal how much money fans of Lynda had been able to raise, after the brave actress lost her battle to colon cancer on October 19, 2014.
Speaking on the ITV show earlier today (17.11.14) an emotional Michael shared: "As you well know we didn't want flowers, only family flowers and I wanted all the money to be donated to Action Against Cancer, the lovely Professor Justin Stebbing ... to this date we've raised a hundred grand [£100,000]."
Despite Lynda's determination to celebrate one final Christmas with her family, she passed away in October, aged 66.
When asked how he planned to spend the first festive season without his wife, Michael replied: "I'm probably going to go away. It's the one time of a year she loved. We had enough Christmas decorations to do the whole of Regent Street. She loved it."
He then recalled a memorable moment when his late wife decided to fill up their suitcases with Christmas decorations.
Michael shared: "I always remember when she was doing 'Calendar Girls', we were up in Harrogate. There was a Christmas shop up there and it was one of the afternoons when she wasn't doing a matinee. She goes in and buys all this Christmas stuff and I said, 'How are you going to get that home?' She said, 'I'll put it in the car'. I said, 'We flew up!' I then had to buy another suitcase. I said, 'Where are we going to put it all?' And she said, 'But I love it!'"

Eddie Redmayne was scared to go for Hawking role

Eddie Redmayne was terrified to audition for the role of Professor Stephen Hawking in 'The Theory of Everything'.
The 32-year-old actor portrays the celebrated physicist in the new biopic but admits he didn't have much faith that he would land the part he coveted so much.
Redmayne - who counts a Tony Award and BAFTA nomination amongst his achievements - told Sunday Times Culture magazine: "I don't have a massive amount of faith in myself, but I do have a competitive edge."
Referring to his latest role, he added: "I was like, 'Yeah - yeah! I'm going to try for that one, and then ... complete terror. Someone asked me earlier, 'Did you get offered it?' And I was like, 'No, I fought pretty hard.'"
The 'Les Miserables' star had to get used to sitting a wheelchair all day during shooting as Hawking has had motor neuron disease since the age of 21.
However, Redmayne insists it didn't bother him because it is such an important part of the scientist's life story.
Speaking about his scenes in the wheelchair, he explained: (It was) uncomfortable - but at the end of the day you got out of the wheelchair."

Kourtney Kardashian celebrates second baby shower

Kourtney Kardashian celebrated a second baby shower on Sunday (16.11.14).
The pregnant reality TV star joined several friends for breakfast at restaurant chain IHOP in Calabasas, Los Angeles, for the pyjama party-themed celebration.
Kourtney posted on Twitter: "Baby shower breakfast. #pajamas #ihop #bestfriends (sic)"
The accompanying image she uploaded to Instagram showed Kourtney sat in her red sleepwear with a matching devil horn headband, accompanied by a "Happy Baby Shower Kourtney" pin badge, and she was smiling as she was about to tuck into a delicious white cake.
As well as the baked treat, Kourtney also enjoyed a mug of hot chocolate.
Among the guests was her close pal Allie Rizzo, who donned polka dot satin sleepwear, and all her pals arrived with various gifts for the unborn baby, believed to be a girl.
It was a fun-filled weekend for Kourtney as on Saturday (15.11.14) she and her long-term partner Scott Disick threw an early birthday party for their son Mason, who turns five on December 14.
The bash was themed around the film 'A Nightmare Before Christmas' and Kourtney's sister Khloe painted her face white and wore an orange wig to resemble the character Sally for the celebration.
The pyjama party was Kourtney's second baby shower after the 35-year- old beauty - who also has a two-year-old daughter Penelope with Scott, 31 - enjoyed a 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' themed brunch last Wednesday (12.11.14) with her sisters Kim Kardashian West, Khloé and Kylie Jenner at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Speaking about the inspiration for the celebration, Kim told E! News: "Originally I really wanted to have breakfast at Tiffany's, and so it's Kourt's favourite movie and so I watched it on a plane back from Paris and ... We stopped at Tiffany's and they just said that they get millions of requests for that, so we kind of made our own Tiffany's ... and we thought it was perfect."

Jamie Oliver’s chili punishment

Jamie Oliver makes his kids eat chillies when they are naughty.
The 39-year-old chef - who has kids Poppy, 12, Daisy, 11, Petal, five, and Buddy, four, with wife Jools - rubbed an apple with a hot Scotch Bonnet pepper to teach his eldest girl a lesson after she was "disrespectful and rude" to him.
He jokingly admitted: "I give them chillies for punishment. It is not very popular beating kids any more, it's not very fashionable and you are not allowed to do it and if you are a celebrity chef like me it does not look very good in the paper. So you need a few options.
"Poppy was quite disrespectful and rude to me and she pushed her luck. In my day I would have got a bit of a telling-off but you are not allowed to do that.
"Five minutes later she thought I had forgotten and I hadn't. She asked for an apple. I cut it up into several pieces and rubbed it with Scotch Bonnet and it worked a treat."
However, Jamie admitted his wife was furious with his unusual discipline technique.
He added to the Daily Mail newspaper: "She ran up to mum and said, 'This is peppery'. I was in the corner laughing. [Jools] said to me, 'Don't you ever do that again.' "
Meanwhile, it seems Jamie is a hit with students as new research shows his books are the top-selling by celebrity chefs among university students at the moment.
Purchases of cookbooks have surged by 70 per cent in the past month, research from Amazon Student has shown, with Jamie's budget-friendly 'Save with Jamie: Shop Smart, Cook Clever, Waste Less' book the overall second most popular food tome among users of the higher education subscription service, coming in behind 'Nosh for Students' by Jon & Ron May.
Other favourite celebrity chefs include Mary Berry in second place, with her 'Great British Bake-Off' co-judge Paul Hollywood in third, Delia Smith in fourth and Nigella Lawson in fifth.
Charlie Caroe, Amazon Student Manager at Amazon.co.uk Ltd, said: "As well as stretching their academic minds while at university, students are also stretching their culinary capabilities. The recent surge in cookbook sales shows that students are interested in choosing to cook more exciting meals from scratch while at university to satisfy their sense of accomplishment."
Amazon Student helps students save time and money on their shopping by offering six months of unlimited free One-Day Delivery on over seven million eligible items. At the end of the six-month free trial, students can convert to a discounted Amazon Prime membership for £39 per year.
