Danny-Boy Hatchard: Working on EastEnders like working at a factory

Danny-Boy Hatchard says working on 'EastEnders' is like working at a factory.
The 23-year-old actor, who plays Lee Carter on the BBC One soap, claims that while his character has been involved in some tough storylines he's very aware that it's just his job and not real life.
Quizzed on whether he finds it hard to let go when the cameras aren't rolling, he told BANG Showbiz: "It can be quite tough but you just get into the swing of things. The way I describe 'EastEnders' is like a factory. You know, we produce scenes and episodes like a factory produces chocolate."
Danny also confessed it's been a dream come true to work with Danny Dyer - who plays his on-screen dad Mick Carter.
He said: "It's a pleasure, I've learnt a lot from him. He's a master of his craft along with everyone else at 'EastEnders' and as long as I'm here I'll continue learning."
However, the soap star admitted he was torn between whether he wanted Danny or actress Kellie Bright, who plays his on-screen mum Linda Carter, to win the Serial Drama Performance prize at the National Television Awards last night (21.01.15).
Speaking before Danny Dyer was presented with the award, he shared: "I think they both deserve it to be fair. Big shout out to Kellie Bright, the whole rape storyline ... She's been very, very strong and there's been some fantastic feedback. Danny wants her to win it so I'm going to go Kellie Bright on this one."

Kieron Richardson on link between online dating and HIV

'Hollyoaks' actor Kieron Richardson thinks online dating is partly to blame for the rise in cases of HIV.
The 29-year-old star, who plays Ste Hay in the Channel 4 soap, has opened up about his character's upcoming storyline, in which he will be diagnosed with the virus, to reveal he believes apps such as Tinder and Grindr are somewhat responsible for the rise in cases.
He said: "I think Grindr and things like that ... Back in the day, if you wanted to have sex with somebody you had to go to a bar, you had to go and meet them. You don't anymore you just tap a button on your phone and can meet somebody ten metres away, so maybe that's one of the reasons why."
The upcoming storyline will mark the first time a British soap has featured a gay character with HIV and Kieron admits a lot of research has gone into making sure it's done right.
Speaking at the National Television Awards last night (21.05.15), he said: "I've got friends who have HIV and we work massively with the Terence Higgins Trust and we got some guys in that have HIV and have been through this - we didn't want to go out on a limb and just blag it - so we spoke to them, researched everything."
Explaining that he will draw on a number of real life stories, Kieron added: "Because everybody is completely different and everybody's journey is completely different, and we're a TV show and we have to bring the show to a wide audience, and there's a range of emotions you can go through with HIV, it's not going to be based on one person in particular."
Meanwhile, Kieron's co-star Stephanie Davis - who plays Sinead Roscoe - is hoping the storyline will educate people on safe sex but also that it is possible to continue living your life with the virus.
She said: "Hopefully it will broadcast to people how easy it is to go and get checked but also how easy it is to live with, even though you might think it's the end of the world, you can live with HIV."

Benedict Cumberbatch was nearly a barrister

Benedict Cumberbatch's parents tried to persuade him not to go into acting.
The 'Imitation Game' star - whose parents, Wanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton, were both actors - has revealed his mother and father they were keen on him becoming a barrister.
He shared: "[Acting is] a very odd, peripatetic, crazed, out of your control work and social schedule. It's very hard to plan a family life, yet alone know where the next pay cheque is coming from so they worked very very hard as my parents, and actors, to afford me an education whereby I had the opportunity and the privilege to try and channel myself towards other goals.
"For a while, I wanted to be a barrister because there's definitely a crossover with criminal law - with trying to persuade an audience and a jury and a judge of the case and your client's story so I did go down that root for a little bit. I think they would have been very happy if I ended up there."
Despite being keen on becoming a criminal barrister, the 38-year-old actor - who is expecting a baby with his fiancée, Sophie Hunter - chose to follow his "primary dream" and went to Manchester University to study drama.
And after his father saw him in a play, he had some choice words from him, which secured his ambition to become an actor.
Speaking on late-night news show 'Tavis Smiley', he said: "Much to dad's amazing selflessness as a man, and I hope to echo that when my time comes to be a dad, he said to me in a car park after a play I'd done at Manchester University, when I was a student there, he said, 'You're better now than I was or ever will be,' which is a huge thing for a man to say to his son.
"He said, 'I think you're gonna have a great career and I can't wait to watch you and support you as you fly'. And I was like, 'My God'. And so, the primary motivation for me in my life is to make them proud."

LL Cool J’s car splurge

LL Cool J bought 10 luxury cars when he first had success.
The 47-year-old star first found fame as a rapper when he was a teenager in the 1980s and he admits he splashed out on himself and his family when he got his first big pay cheques.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, he said: "When I started out I bought my mother a house and had 10 or 12 cars - BMWs, Benzes, Porsches."
LL - real name James Todd Smith - has enjoyed a successful acting career as well as being a hip hop hitmaker, but although he has a lot of money now he doesn't spend it like he used to when he was younger.
The 'NCIS: Los Angeles' actor insists his main purchases now are on new books and box fresh trainers.
He revealed: "The luxury I have in my life now is I can buy all the books I want and I can always have brand new trainers on. I remember going to school and having books that were already written in and had pages missing. My thing isn't money. Don't get me wrong. I want £10 million right now, today. I'll take it. But that's not my sales pitch. I'm not trying to show people how rich I am. But I do like diamonds and nice things."
He also makes sure he doesn't overindulge his four kids and he teaches them the value of money and hard work.
LL explained: "I teach them to be grateful and I don't spoil them. They have things but they won't ever have everything. I won't ever overdo it ... There has to be something in their lives to strive for and they have to learn the value of creativity. It can't only be about money because no matter whose child your are the only thing that's really going to make your life amazing is creativity. If you're not creating in your life, your life won't be about anything. I don't want their life to be about what they can get from me."

Uri Geller’s washing up ban

Uri Geller isn't allowed to do the washing up because his wife won't let him touch the cutlery.
The 68-year-old star admitted he has managed to get away with some chores over the years thanks to his well-known spoon-bending talents because his wife Hanna - who he married in 1979 - won't let him anywhere near a knife, fork or a spoon in their house in case he uses his powers to change their shape.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he quipped: "My wife will never let me touch any of the cutlery in our kitchen drawer.
"I'm not allowed to do the washing up!"
Uri is known for bending spoons through the power and strength of his mind, and he often goes out for dinner and hears shrieks from people in an eatery who are in shock because their cutlery has started to curl.
He added: "Many a time when I go to restaurants things do happen around me, spoons do bend on other tables and people freak out.
"Customers go to have food and they don't even know I'm there and suddenly their fork or spoon starts curling.
"I was with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in his hometown and we sat down and there were about 12 tables in the restaurant and lo and behold, a woman screamed, she shrieked, 'My fork is bending.'
"We all jumped up and everyone's spoon and fork started bending in the restaurant. The prime minister will tell this story so it's not something I'm making up.
"Sometimes very bizarre and odd things happen. I smile and say, 'OK, it's the Geller effect.'
"I immediately tell them to relax."
Uri is fronting the Kellogg's personalised spoon campaign and will be hosting a spoon bending master-class at Westfield London W12 on Saturday (24.01.15). To register for the event, email [email protected] and to find out how to get your personalised spoon, go to http://www.spoon.kelloggs.com

Jennifer Lopez hires ‘manny’ for son Max

Jennifer Lopez has hired a "manny" for her son.
The 45-year-old singer has enlisted the help of a male nanny for her six-year-old son Max because he was getting "aggressive" with her and she thought he might calm down if he had another man to spend some quality time with.
Speaking on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers', Jennifer - who also has Max's twin Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony - said: "The poor boy is surrounded by women 24 hours a day. One day I'm looking at him and he like jumps on me and hurts my neck.
"He's so aggressive, he's six and he's killing me. I'm like, 'What the? Baby, no'. And then the nanny is like, 'Ouch, OK Max.' He wants to roughhouse.
"He has this thing and I go, 'This poor kid he's just surrounded by women all day'. I was just thinking of my child and I got a manny, a nice guy to come in and like hang out with him and have fun."
Jennifer admitted she was recently wondering how her and Marc's twins dealt with their divorce, which was finalised in June 2014, and what they would think about the couple's failed marriage when they are older.
Speaking on 'The Wendy Williams Show', she said: "The world has changed so much; I was thinking about this the other day. But I was like, 'God, it's so different.'
"You didn't hear about divorces so much when you were little and now there's like families and you have to deal with other people's kids and then their partners, and old partners and new partners and it's like such a different world.
"Of course I was thinking about it because I was thinking about my children and how they have to deal with it and how they're gonna deal with all of it, how they're gonna grow up. What's gonna happen when they grow up?"
