Paddy McGuinness wants Line of Duty role

Paddy McGuinness has become obsessed with binge watching ‘Line of Duty’ – and now wants a part in the drama.
The 45-year-old TV presenter – who is back on screens on Saturday night (23.03.19) with his own BBC One gameshow ‘Catchpoint’ – says he would "do anything" to land a role in the police corruption drama, including playing a "crack addict".
He told the Series Linked Podcast: "I’m just on series three of ‘Line of Duty’. It must have been on for a few years now but I didn’t know a thing about it until two weeks ago. And I just did the bingeing, watching them all, one after the other.
"I really, really like acting. I think I could definitely do something in that. I’m basically such a fan of that show, I would do anything. If they want me to be a crack addict in a scene, I will be."
Paddy also co-hosts the new series of ‘Top Gear’ alongside Freddie Flintoff, and the ‘Take Me Out’ presenter admits the offer to front the show "came from nowhere" because he has never harboured any ambitions to present the programme.
He said: "I think it’ll appeal to probably a slightly broader audience, the way we’ve done it. It won’t just be something where you have be a real petrolhead to get anything out of it.
"Even back in the day when Clarkson and Hammond and May did it, the most popular parts of the show were the trips they did abroad, which, really, had nothing to do with reviewing cars or anything like that, it was just a road trip.
"It’s just about striking the right balance really. It was a show I’ve always enjoyed. I watched it since I were a kid, absolutely no ambition at all to ever host it or get involved with it.
"Just like anyone else, I was just a fan of the show. Again, it came from nowhere really. I didn’t have to think about saying yes. It has been an absolute joy to do. I can’t wait to see it on telly."
