Paddy McGuinness’ twins suffer with autism.
The ‘Take Me Out’ host’s wife Christine, 29, has revealed that four-year-old Leo and Penelope have the lifelong disability, which means they see, hear and feel the world differently to other people, in an emotive poem for their birthday over the weekend.
Taking to her Instagram account, she said: "Today you both turn four, and I celebrate so much more. In the last 12 months you have learnt to talk, and you are using flat feet to walk. You are conquering your daily challenges, and I’m here to hold your hand, when your dealing with sensory overload, the quietest room sounds like a big brass band. You excel in mathematics and amateur dramatics and you amaze me every day, because you are beautiful inside and out in an extra special way.
"The meltdowns, the routines and all the planning ahead. The groundhog days, the beige food and the temperamental ‘time for bed’. I love you unconditionally and will encourage you both to embrace your autism. Because you are totally unique and fantastically awesome. All my love always, mummy. (sic)"
The couple haven’t publicly spoken about their twins’ health condition until now but Paddy, 43, recently admitted that parenthood has been stressful but he loves it.
He said: "Like most mums and dads, I enjoy a good moan about how difficult it is being a parent. But I do love it. Sure, the bad, stressful things outweigh the good things but the good things are so good they eclipse all the other stuff."
The pair have been married since June 2011 and welcomed their third child, daughter, Felicity into the world last September.
