Paddy McGuinness isn’t worried about other dating shows being more successful than ‘Take Me Out’.
The 40-year-old comedian recently finished hosting the sixth series of the ITV programme and has admitted that he doesn’t feel threatened by other dating shows because ‘Take Me Out’ has been the only successful one "since ‘Blind Date’ ".
When asked what he thinks of other channels introducing similar programmes, he said: "It’s almost like a compliment, really, that they’re all getting on to it now … but thank the lord and touch wood ours is still going.
"They all seem to do a couple of series then disappear so it’s quite flattering really that they’re all starting to do dating shows from the strengths of ‘Take Me Out’."
The TV star also claimed that although he’s become one of the main faces of Saturday night television, alongside Ant and Dec, this was never his intention.
He told BANG Showbiz exclusively: "I kind of fell into doing Saturday night TV … I think with big entertainment shows, Saturday night is where they belong, really.
"So it’s not a case of me thinking, ‘Oh I mist be the face of Saturday night TV’, it’s just the kind of shows that I do."
