Pacific Rim 2 for release in 2018

‘Pacific Rim 2’ is set for release in 2018.
The follow-up to Guillermo Del Toro’s robot monster fight flick has been plagued with delays, but it has now been announced that it will drop on February 23, 2018.
After numerous postponements pushing it back, fears began to grow over the film’s fate, but then writer Steven S. DeKnight joined the project alongside Del Toro.
John Boyega of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was the first casting to be announced in the lead, and he will play the son of Idris Elba’s character in the previous film.
Another potential cast member has also been announced in the shape of ‘Suicide Squad’s’ Scott Eastwood, the son of veteran actor and director Clint Eastwood.
It is expected that the 30-year-old actor will play a co-pilot/antagonist opposite Boyega’s character.
Meanwhile, Del Toro’s first ‘Pacific Rim’ film followed Earth’s battle with the Kaiju monsters who have emerged from an inter-dimensional port at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
Humanity unites to create Jaegers – giant robots controlled by at least two pilots – in a bid to defeat the Kaiju.
Del Toro will return to the sequel in the role of producer, and will no doubt be hoping the second installment will top the $410 million the first movie made.
