P. Diddy launches campaign in memory of The Notorious B.I.G

P. Diddy has launched a social media campaign in the memory of The Notorious B.I.G.
The ‘Mo Money Mo Problems’ hitmaker – real name Christopher Wallace – was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting 20 years ago, and to mark the anniversary of his death his friend and collaborator P. Diddy has taken to social media to launch the "#WeMissYouBIG" campaign.
Diddy – real name Sean Combs – is urging fans of the late star to post a video of themselves rapping their favourite Notorious B.I.G lyrics, alongside the "#WeMissYouBIG" hashtag. The 47-year-old rapper will then take these clips and edit them into one video to commemorate the legacy of his late friend.
In a video posted to his Twitter page, the ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ hitmaker said: "Check this out, this is what I want you to do. I want you to rap your favourite Biggie verse and post it with the hashtag #WeMissYouBig.
"I’m going to chop it up and everything and we’re going to put out something special with all the fans and friends and family involved to celebrating The Notorious B.I.G.’s life.
"We definitely miss you."
Diddy accompanied the video with a tweet which read: "20 years ago today we lost the greatest rapper of all time, The Notorious B.I.G. #WeMissYouBIG (sic)"
The rapper also took to Instagram to share the same video clip, and said: "20 years ago today we lost the greatest rapper of all time, The Notorious B.I.G. We’re celebrating his life through his music and through his legacy today. I want everyone to get involved and rap your favorite Biggie verse, tag me and use the hashtag #WeMissYouBIG @badboyent (sic)"
The social media campaign comes as one of many projects announced for the anniversary of Biggie’s death, including a posthumous duet album with his widow Faith Evans – with whom he shared son, Christopher Wallace Jr., 20 – slated for release in May called ‘The King & I’.
Biggie – who also had daughter T’yanna with Jan Jackson – was just 24 when he was shot by an unknown assailant in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles on March 9 1997.
The ‘Juicy’ rapper – who is highly regarded as one of the most influential rappers of all time – was shot four times before he died later in hospital from ballistic trauma.
His murder – which remains unsolved – came just six months after fellow rapper Tupac Shakur was killed in similar circumstances.
