Ozzy Osbourne: It’s not me that wants to retire

Ozzy Osbourne doesn’t want to retire from Black Sabbath.
The 67-year-old frontman – who is joined by Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler in the heavy metal group – says he would gladly do more shows beyond the 80 shows they have inked in for their ‘The End Tour’, which concludes on November 12 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. However, while it is unlikely the ‘Paranoid’ hitmaker has vowed to continue as a solo artist.
He explained: "It’s not me that wants to retire; it’s Black Sabbath. I’ll be continuing my own musical thing.
"We’re doing 80 shows. It’s good enough. I wouldn’t mind extending the tour for another few gigs. There’s a lot of people who won’t get to see us, but I don’t think it’s going to happen."
Ozzy said that while his wife Sharon Osbourne, 63, likes to make sure he isn’t overdoing it, he has no plans to stop making music and performing live because it is his "greatest love affair" of his life.
He told Billboard magazine: "My wife [and manager Sharon Osbourne] is good at telling me partial information, y’know, but I know I’m not hanging ’em up for awhile.
"Being Ozzy Osbourne solo again is not a job, it’s a passion. It’s a love. It’s the biggest, greatest love affair of my life."
While Ozzy is keen to continue touring, guitarist Tony has said he will definitely be giving up travelling on the road with the band after being diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in 2013.
He previously said: "Flying around the world hasn’t really helped because it makes me very tired. I love doing these shows but I can’t take the travelling anymore."
However, although he’s keen to step away from touring, Tony hasn’t ruled out doing the odd show occasionally.
He added: "We may do the odd one-off show."
