Oasis lead Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2026 inductees

Oasis are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2026.

The Britpop icons are among the illustrious group set to be honoured at the ceremony in Los Angeles later this year, leading the way in the performers category alongside Iron Maiden, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher previously claimed the Hall of Fame was for “w*****s”, but joked if Oasis ever got inducted he would change his tune.

After the news broke, he wrote on X: “I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it’s true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream LG x (sic)”

After someone brought up he previous comments, he quipped: “Well I was speaking to my mummy last night when the news broke and she thinks I may have been a little hasty with my perception of the organization she’s told me to stop being a d*** and go to the awards and behave and you never know you might enjoy it.”

The announcement was made during American Idol on Monday (13.04.26), ahead of the ceremony on November 14 at LA’s Peacock Theatre.

The early influence category has also been revealed, which this year features Queen Latifah, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, MC Lyte and Gram Parsons.

In the musical excellence category, the 2026 group adds songwriter Linda Creed, alongside producers Rick Rubin, Jimmy Miller and Arif Mardin, while late chat show host Ed Sullivan will be honoured with the Ahmet Ertegun non-performer prize.

Several stars missed out this year despite being nominated, including Mariah Carey, New Edition, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Jeff Buckley, Shakira and Pink.

Speaking Billboard about the induction, Rebel Yell star Billy Idol said: “I can’t believe it. It’s incredible.

“It’s just fantastic to think that something I was doing for the sheer love of the scene we were in back in the ‘70s, the punk rock scene. We were doing it for the love. We had no idea it was going to explode and lead to me doing this for 50 years.

“So it’s all really incredible and something I just couldn’t have imagined when I was starting out.”
