Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs reveals prostate cancer diagnosis

Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs has revealed he will miss a leg of the band’s reunion tour to undergo prostate cancer treatment.

The 60-year-old musician explained that he was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year and will be absent from the Oasis Live ’25 gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney over the coming month.

In a statement posted on social media, Bonehead said: “Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour.

“Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.

“I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America.

“Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.”

The rocker is due to return to the stage with the Wonderwall band in Buenos Aires on November 15, as Oasis bring the tour to a close with five concerts in South America.

The Britpop legends shared Bonehead’s statement on X and added: “Wishing you all the best with your treatment Bonehead – we’ll see you back on stage in South America.”

Bonehead received well wishes from Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anais, who commented: “We love you so much bonehead!”

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher’s daughter Molly Moorish wrote: “Sending love!”

Bonehead was previously diagnosed with tonsil cancer in 2022 but revealed later that year that he had been given the “all clear” by doctors.

He wrote on Instagram at the time: “Update on my cancer, I had a full scan 10 days ago, and it’s all clear, it’s gone. Thank you so much all of you for the messages I’ve had throughout, you’ve helped me more than you know. Thank you especially to the team @TheChristieNHS, into recovery now and see you all soon x (sic)”

Bonehead was with Oasis from their formation in 1991 before leaving in 1999 as he wanted to spend more time with his family.

However, he continued working with Liam over the years, including in his band Beady Eye and on other solo projects.

The musician – who has two children with his wife Kate – then rejoined Oasis when the Gallagher brothers reunited after 16 years for their new tour.
