Nova Twins recall being invited backstage by huge music legend at Glastonbury

Nova Twins were invited backstage to Sir Elton John’s dressing room before his Glastonbury set.

The rock duo – comprising Amy Love and Georgia South – have revealed their biggest pinch-me moment was getting to hang out with the music legend before his headline set at Worthy Farm in 2023, all while bumping into Blondie’s Debbie Harry, Guns N’ Roses guitar hero Slash, and Foo Fighters and Nirvana legend Dave Grohl.

Appearing on The Red Carpet Treatment – On The Road Presented by Mastercard podcast, Amy said: “Probably when Elton invited us into his dressing room before his Glasto headline set. Slash was in the corner, Debbie Harry was there, Dave Grohl was there, and then Elton was just there in his dressing room in a cool Gucci tracksuit.”

Asked by host Luke Hamnett what the Tiny Dancer hitmaker said to them, they replied: “He was just like ‘my girls!’”

Amy went on to praise Elton for taking time out of his hectic schedule to support new artists.

She added: “It was so lovely. It was before his show, and we’re thinking ‘he’s on in like half an hour and he’s taking the time to sit and talk to us.’ It was such a pinch me moment because he’s obviously a legend and such a big supporter of new music and he’s always looking out for new artists.”

Elsewhere, Georgia acknowledged a shift toward more diverse festival lineups, but noted “there’s still a long way to go”.

Asked if they “feel like they represent the girls of rock now”, she replied: “Yeah, definitely. It’s nice to see where we started from and how the scene has evolved and grown, because it was very limited when we started, but now we can see on festival bills it’s a lot more diverse. There’s still a long way to go with it, but it’s encouraging to see the change is starting to happen.”
