Noel Gallagher uninterested in chart battle with Liam

Noel Gallagher isn’t going to compare the success of his new album ‘Who Built The Moon?’ to his younger brother Liam Gallagher’s debut solo LP.
The 50-year-old songwriter releases his third record under the High Flying Birds moniker on November 24, following several months in the studio with producer David Holmes.
His sibling and former Oasis bandmate Liam, 45, released his first solo offering ‘As You Were’ back in October and the record went straight to number one in the UK and was certified gold with over 100,000 sales and has been a hit all over the globe.
Noel’s previous two post-Oasis albums – 2011’s ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ and 2015’s ‘Chasing Yesterday’ – both went to number one in the UK album chart but he isn’t worried if his newest collection of tracks don’t match Liam’s figures.
Speaking at a press conference in Italy, the ‘Holy Mountain’ rocker said: "Look, mine is out next week and Liam’s was out a few weeks ago, so what? Who cares?"
Although Noel has been talking up ‘Who Built The Moon?’ as a psychedelic record made up of "cosmic pop" tracks he believes it is actually his most "rock ‘n’ roll" album because it has been made with a complete freedom of spirit.
The ‘She Taught Me How To Fly’ songwriter said: "I would describe it as cosmic pop, but it’s also my most rock ‘n’ roll record. I travel the world and people have this idea about rock ‘n’ roll is about black leather biker jackets, drinking Jack Daniels, shouting and cigarettes. But, to me, rock ‘n’ roll is about freedom. It’s about freedom of spirit, freedom of expression and just being able to do what you want, whenever you want to do it and that’s the spirit I entered into this record with. After ‘Chasing Yesterday’ I had a very clear idea of who I was and what I am but I couldn’t take that any further. Luckily, I met David Holmes at the right time and we found something new together."
