Noel Gallagher returns to work, raising speculation new music is in the works

Noel Gallagher has returned to work following the festive break, fuelling fresh speculation that new music could be on the way after a hugely successful year for Oasis.

The guitarist confirmed he was heading back into work on Monday (19.01.26) after enjoying time off at the end of 2025. Speaking on Radio 5 Football Daily last week, Noel discussed the break that followed the band’s blockbuster Oasis Live ’25 tour.

He said: “The holiday was good. But, yeah, back at work on Monday. So it’s all good, mate. It’s all been going great.”

The comments have inevitably reignited talk of new material, particularly after the Oasis Live ’25 tour wrapped in November to widespread acclaim. The reunion marked a major cultural moment, with fans packing out stadiums to see Noel and his brother reunited on stage for the first time in years.

However, any immediate plans for further Oasis activity remain unclear. Frontman Liam Gallagher has already told fans on X that the band will not be doing anything in 2026, suggesting that Noel’s return to work could involve solo material or writing projects rather than a full band comeback.

Elsewhere, Noel has continued to flirt with the idea of Oasis taking on a very different kind of project: recording a James Bond theme. The band were recently rumoured to be among the favourites to be approached to write the title song for the next 007 film, following Amazon MGM Studios’ takeover of the franchise.

Asked about the speculation during an appearance on talkSPORT, Noel played down the rumours. He said: “This James Bond thing? What, Oasis? Nah.”

But when pressed on whether he would be interested if the offer came in, he said: “What for Oasis to do it? Absolutely. Of course. It would be an absolute honour, and I think those kind of things should be done by Brits not Yanks.”

He confirmed, however, that no one from Amazon MGM Studios had been in touch, adding with a grin: “Nah nah nah. I’ll play a villain. I’ll play a Mancunian villain.”

Noel previously shared that he had a go at penning songs he believes would suit a Bond film. Speaking to NME, he said he had listened back to one track and thought it would make “a great Bond theme”.
