Noel Edmonds: ‘BBC should have kept Jeremy Clarkson in check’

Noel Edmonds says the BBC should have kept Jeremy Clarkson "in check" while filming ‘Top Gear’.
The controversial TV star was replaced by Chris Evans after smacking producer Oisin Tymon in the face following a heated row over steak and Noel, who previously presented the show, believes the BBC should have done more to prevent it.
According to the Sunday Mirror, he said: "I’m not making light of punching someone, but really the BBC should have been there keeping an eye on Jeremy and keeping him in check."
And Noel called Jeremy and his replacement Chris "flawed geniuses" and worries that Chris taking over the show has ruined their previous friendship.
He said: "I like both Chris and Jeremy. It saddens me there seems to be bad blood. I guess it was inevitable once Chris took over.
"But I think I understand what makes them both tick. Basically they are flawed geniuses. Sadly, television executives haven’t a clue how to handle them.
"Both are so unpredictable. But Chris is the most innovative and exciting talent we have in TV and radio today."
Meanwhile, Jeremy finally revealed the name of his new Amazon Prime motoring show this week.
The TV presenter and his former ‘Top Gear’ co-stars, Richard Hammond and James May, have been filming the show over the past few months have revealed that it will be called ‘The Grand Tour’.
Jeremy tweeted: "Start the smoke. We have a name. So, the Grand Tour (GT for short) will come from a tent, which we will put up in a different location every week. Your town? (sic)."
Jeremy added: "Thing is. We’ll be travelling the world hosting each episode in a different country, from a giant tent. It’s a sort of "grand tour", if you like. So we’ve decided to call it ‘The Grand Tour’."
