Nitin Ganatra: There’s still much to find with Masood

Nitin Ganatra thinks there is "much to find" in his ‘EastEnders’ character.
The 52-year-old actor’s character Masood Ahmed was last seen in Albert Square in February when he swapped Walford for Australia, and the star admits he would love to reprise his role one day "if they want me".
He said: "Masood is lovely, I love him. I think there is still much to find in him.
"I have a lot of respect for ‘EastEnders’ and the way they really work hard at producing stories that keep people interested.
"So who knows? One day I’ll go back, if they want me."
Nitin is currently starring in David Baddiel’s debut play ‘God’s Dice’, and admits he was so used to working quickly on ‘EastEnders’ that he "peaked by day three of rehearsals".
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he added: "The trickiest thing about this process for me was, I had got so used to working quickly.
"On ‘EastEnders’, I have a great respect for the way they work. You have to make decisions so quickly and learn lines quickly, and then make it sound like you’ve just thought of it.
"In theatre, I peaked by day three of the rehearsal. It’s been a learning process."
In April, Nitin admitted he "misses" being in ‘EastEnders’.
He said: "I love playing Masood and the door was left open.
"I miss playing that character, so I’m waiting for the next producer to come along and seduce me back.
"I don’t think we’re finished with that character. He is yet to find his wings. I want him to have big storylines, we never really did that. I want Masood to own the Vic."
