Nile Rodgers wants musical made of his life

Nile Rodgers wants a musical made about his life.
The legendary guitarist has enjoyed an incredible five-decade spanning career which has seen him at the forefront of the disco explosion in the 70s with his band Chic and making hit records for other artists including Diana Ross, David Bowie, Duran Duran and Daft Punk among others.
Nile has been approached on numerous occasions with film offers but he wants his story to be told on stage soundtracked by his own music first.
When asked if a movie biopic could be made about his career, he said: "There could be but I have been turning everybody down. I want to do a theatrical music version of my life first."
Nile thinks it will be tough to find someone who can play him though because they’d have to be more talented than he is.
Speaking at the Q Awards, he said with a smile: "I don’t know who could play me but they’d have to be more talented than I am! It’s something we are floating at the moment."
Nile was presented with the Q Legend accolade at the ceremony held at The Roundhouse in London and in his acceptance speech he admitted that if it wasn’t for iconic British band Roxy Music he would never have had created Chic with his late friend Bernard Edwards
Speaking on stage, the ‘Good Times’ hitmaker – who has just released ‘It’s About Time’, the first new album from Chic for 26 years – said: "I’ve done a lot of records in my life and in a strange way, even though I am an American, born in New York City, the UK has had so much to do with the development of my career. Had it not been for me going around with this girl, who took me to see this then unknown band called Roxy Music, I never would have come up with the concept for Chic.
"We were in a bunch of punk bands and whenever we got dressed up in the morning, that was what we went on stage in that night. I went out to this club and I saw this beautiful band called Roxy Music and they were like gorgeous. They were decked out and dressed up to go on stage. The audience was beautiful. I got on the phone and called my boy in New York. I said, Bernard, we have got to do the black version of this s**t. It changed my life and from that moment on I was meeting people like David Bowie, George Michael and Duran Duran."
