Nickelback working on new album after penning record deal

Nickelback are busily working on their ninth studio album after signing a new global record deal with BMG.
The Canadian rock group, who formed in 1995, have begun working on their latest record and while they are yet to confirm a tentative release date for the album, they have promised to make a "major" announcement on February 1.
In a statement, the band – whose lead vocalist is Chad Kroeger – said: "We are honoured to partner with the global BMG team and look forward to releasing new music for our fans.
"Sharing our vision and passion with such a dedicated team while being surrounded by some of the greatest music artists of all time is very humbling and we couldn’t be more excited."
Zach Katz of BMG added that the band will be releasing new music "soon".
He said: "We are thrilled to welcome the legendary Nickelback to BMG. For us, the opportunity to work side by side with a band of their calibre, with an exceptional body of work reaching the highest levels of global success, truly speaks for itself.
"We are excited to let the world experience their extraordinary new music soon."
Meanwhile, in December, Avril Lavigne accused Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg of "bullying" Nickelback.
Avril – who split from Chad Kroeger in 2015 – was not impressed when Mark poked fun at the group in a video about his home A.I. assistant Jarvis, voiced by Morgan Freeman.
In the video, Mark can be heard asking Jarvis to play some good Nickelback music, to which he responds, "I’m afraid I can’t do that. There are no good Nickelback songs."
But Avril subsequently wrote on Twitter :"Dear Mark, Many people use your products – some people love them and some people don’t. Either way, you’re allowed your musical opinion however, your jab at Nickelback is in poor taste. When you have a voice like yours, you may want to consider being more responsible with promoting bullying, especially given what’s going on in the world today. #SayNoToBullying #TheJokeIsOld #NickelbackHasSoldOver50MillionAlbums (sic)."
