Nick Knowles: I’m in a better place than I’ve been for 20 years

Nick Knowles is in "a better place" now than he has been in the past 20 years.

The 57-year-old television presenter – who split from the 26-year-old PR executive Emily Hallinan earlier this year, after a year of dating – has found being single can be a "positive", and admitted he has been getting to know himself better in lockdown.

He told The Sun newspaper: "There are times in your life when you are with someone, and there are times when you’re not. And being single can actually be a very positive thing.

"Having a three-month, enforced sit-down has actually been one of the best things that’s happened to me in my life.

"I feel in a better place now than I have done for probably 20 years, just spending some time getting to know yourself before re-entering the fray."

The ‘DIY SOS’ star – who has been married twice to Gillian, from 1995 to 2000, and Jessica Rose Moor from 2012 to 2016 – confirmed on Valentine’s Day (14.02.20) that he was single.

He tweeted: "Happy Valentine’s. And if you’re single like me don’t worry, we don’t have to join in everything every year. I missed national prune day too …

"I’m ok. Trying to cheer up those who feel left out – Feb is cat neuter awareness month – I won’t join in that either … Not sure why we feel we all have to be involved. I didn’t do thanksgiving, shrove Tuesday or breastfeeding week. Was supposed to be for secret admirers and getting people together not those already coupled (sic)"

One fan saw his tweets and expressed shock as to why the former ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!’ star would be single.

He replied: "Because it’s not the end of the world to be single for a while."
