Nicholas Cochrane set for soap return

Nicholas Cochrane is join in the cast of ‘Doctors’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who played Andy McDonald on the cobbles for eight years until 1997, and has made a few brief appearances since – is set to make his return to the world of soaps as part of the BBC show.
According to Inside Soap magazine, the 45-year-old actor has filmed scenes for an episode of ‘Doctors’ as a local businessman who gets "in too deep with a gangster".
The medical soap follows the lives of patients and staff at a Midlands medical practice, and the news comes after Nicholas hinted he could return to ‘Corrie’ one day.
‘This Morning’ host Holly Willoughby previously pointed out his character was "never killed off" with the door open for a return.
Nicholas admitted it was a possibility, joking: "Well I’m a good excuse for when everyone needs to go on a real holiday, they send them to Spain to go see me."
The actor joined the cobbles cast in 1989 when he and his school friend Simon Gregson were hired as twins Andy and Steve McDonald.
And earlier this year, Bev Callard – who plays their on-screen mother Liz McDonald – called on bosses to bring back Nicholas and Charlie Lawson (Jim McDonald) to complete their family.
She said: "Listen, you’ve got to bully the producer and the writers. I would love Charlie to come back and I know he would love to, too.
"But we so want Nick, who played Andy, to come back as well. We’d love the four of us to all be together again."
‘Lorraine’ host Lorraine Kelly added: "That would be fantastic, let’s campaign for that."
