Neil Morrissey wants Men Behaving Badly comeback

Neil Morrissey wants ‘Men Behaving Badly’ to make a comeback two decades on – and there has been talk about a script.
The 56-year-old actor starred with Martin Clunes, also 56, as Tony Smart and Gary Strang in the popular sitcom, which ran for six series until its conclusion in 1998 – and now he hopes it can make a return.
Speaking at the RHS Hampton Court Palace flower show, he told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Martin and I and [Caroline Quentin] always say that we want ‘Men Behaving Badly’ to come back.
"If [writer Simon Nye] comes up with something brilliant I’ll obviously do it and I’m sure [Leslie Ash] would be on board. I’m sure everybody would."
While original writer Simon also teased the possibility – "never say never" – a source close to him told the publication that talks have already begun in some form.
The insider added: "Discussions have taken place."
Although the programme showed a specific ‘lad culture’ from the 1990s, Neil is convinced the series could still work 20 years later without a need to change its style in light of the #MeToo movement and he suggested the gap in time could give him even more ideas for the future.
He added: "The whole point about him and Gary is that they never move on and they are still going to be misogynistic idiots today…
"Martin’s character had a baby before the end of the series, so there will be some 18-year-old kid who I can send down the off-licence for me."
