National Television Awards rescheduled for April 2021

The National Television Awards (NTAs) has been rescheduled for a new date in 2021.

The glitzy bash was originally set to take place at The O2 in London on January 26, 2021, but NTA bosses have now confirmed the annual awards show will instead be held on April 20, 2021.

They said in a statement: "The National Television Awards has today announced that the 2021 NTAs has been rescheduled to Tuesday 20th April 2021 and tickets will be honoured for the new date.

"Information about new NTA voting categories being launched in 2021 and the first round of voting will be released this autumn."

Ticket holders for the show – which was hosted by David Walliams in 2020 – will also be contacted shortly by Ticketmaster or AXS, who can help fans with any queries about the rescheduled date.

Fans can also still book tickets for the event online at www.nationaltvawards.com/tickets.

The NTAs were first staged in 1995 and are widely seen as one of British TV’s biggest nights of the year.

However, the industry has been thrown into chaos recently due to the coronavirus pandemic, which led production companies to halt filming for a number of months.

And while production work has restarted on some shows in recent weeks, the pandemic has caused havoc with TV schedules.

‘Hollyoaks’, for instance, returned to work earlier this month, but bosses of the popular soap have confirmed the show won’t go back to its normal schedule until next year.

A Channel 4 spokesperson recently explained: "’Hollyoaks’ will be resuming production this week in Liverpool ahead of a return to recording on set in July.

"The Channel 4 drama, which is shot differently to other soaps with single-camera, will increase in episodes from its current two nights a week to four nights a week from September, the current plan being to return to five episodes in 2021."
