NASA astronauts left laughing after Chappell Roan cut short during lunar wake‑up call

NASA’s Orion crew got an unexpected start to their day when Mission Control tried to wake them with a Chappell Roan hit — only for the track to cut out before it reached the chorus.

During Saturday’s (04.06.26) livestream of the lunar mission, flight controllers played the pop star’s 2023 anthem Pink Pony Club as the morning wake‑up call for the astronauts aboard Orion.

But the moment didn’t last long: the music stopped barely a minute in, leaving the crew hanging.

Commander Reid Wiseman couldn’t resist teasing the ground team, telling them: “We were all eagerly awaiting the chorus.”

His comment sparked laughter across the broadcast, with the Capsule Communicator replying that they would “try again next time” before wishing the astronauts a good morning and outlining the day’s schedule.

The light‑hearted exchange quickly became a highlight for viewers following the mission, adding a rare bit of levity to the high‑stakes flight.

Wiseman is part of a four‑astronaut team that left Earth’s orbit on April 2 for a landmark journey to explore parts of the moon no human has ever seen before.

The mission marks one of NASA’s most ambitious steps toward future lunar exploration.

Meanwhile, Chappell has been in hot water after a recent incident.

The 28-year-old pop star hit the headlines after footballer Jorginho claimed his 11-year-old stepdaughter Ada – whose dad is actor Jude Law – was reduced to tears after an “aggressive and intimidating” security guard allegedly accused the youngster of “harassing” the singer by sneaking a peak at her idol over breakfast at a hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Chappell released a video denying the bodyguard was working on her instruction.

A representative for the singer also released a new statement insisting the star is not to blame.

They said: “Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother/daughter and a third-party security office.

“She did not see them at breakfast in her hotel, as she said in her video. She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them.

“Chappell holds her own teams to the highest standards and has zero tolerance for any kind of aggressive behaviour towards her or her fans.”
