Tracey Emin to design Brit Award

Tracey Emin will design the 2015 Brit Award statuette.
The controversial artist will follow in the footsteps of Dame Vivienne Westwood, Sir Peter Blake, Damien Hirst and last year's designer Philip Treacy in creating the iconic prize, which will be handed out at the annual ceremony next February.
And the 51-year-old artist was "thrilled" to asked to design the award.
She said: "I was thrilled to be asked to rework the Brits trophy. It's so nice as a visual artist to have an involvement with the creative side of the music industry and it's such a sweet celebration of the amazing talent we have in Britain today."
Brits organisers were keen to select a designer who represented "British creativity" and were "delighted" when Tracey agreed to their request.
Brits Chairman Max Lousada said: "Tracey is one of the UK's most prominent fine artists and we are delighted that she has agreed to re-work the 2015 BRITs trophy. Having her on board means that we enter a fifth year of iconic and uniquely designed BRIT statues, and with British creativity very much at the heart of the event, it's fitting that Tracey takes the baton and continues this tradition."

Take That to debut single tomorrow

Take That will premiere their new single tomorrow (10.10.14).
The 'Patience' hitmakers' first track since Jason Orange's recent departure can be heard on UK radio at 7.30am and the remaining members of the group - Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald - hope it will be a hit with fans.
A posting on the group's twitter page read: "We can officially confirm that our new single is premiering tomorrow morning across UK radio! Tune in from 7:30am."
Gary then wrote on his own twitter page: "hope u like it (sic)"
And in response to a fan who said she was excited about hearing the song, he replied: "So r we (sic)"
Howard doesn't think fans will be disappointed by the track, whose name has not yet been announced.
He tweeted: "we can't wait to hear on the radio too!... tis a great song (sic)"
The song marks the group's first new material since 2010 and Howard admitted it has been a long time coming.
He wrote: "About bloody time hey (sic)"
Take That fans were left stunned last month when Jason announced his departure.
He said in a statement: "I want to start by saying how proud I am of what we have achieved together over the years.
"However, at a band meeting last week I confirmed to Mark, Gary and Howard that I do not wish to commit to recording and promoting a new album...
"At the start of this year and with my full knowledge and blessing the guys began writing new material.
"There have been no fallings out, only a decision on my part that I no longer wish to do this."

One Direction ‘have no plans to make a film’

One Direction do not intend to make a move into acting.
The band - which consists of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - are currently preparing to release their concert film 'Where We Are', but it's been revealed they have no intention of following the likes of the Spice Girls - who made 'Spice World' - by doing a scripted movie.
Asked whether it's something the boys would ever consider, 'Where We Are' director Ben Winston told Digital Spy: "I don't think we've ever had conversations with the boys about it.
"I thought [the video for] 'Best Song Ever' was going to be very hard for them, and I remember when I pitched it to them it would be a really hard pitch - and even if they go for it, I don't know if they're going to have the ability to pull it off.
"I remember being on set in Miami gobsmacked by how brilliant they were and it sort of made me think, 'Wow, they really could do a movie like ['Spice World']'.
"But I never went to them with it, because I sort of feel that's not who they are."
Meanwhile, Julian Bunetta, who co-wrote some of the band's hit tracks including 'Best Song Ever' and new single 'Steal My Girl', recently revealed to MTV News that One Direction's new album will be a "musical rainbow".
He explained: "There is probably a whole bunch of stuff in between them ['Steal My Girl' and 'Fireproof'] that sound nothing like each other.
"So it's just one big One Direction musical rainbow; one song is green and one song is blue, one song is red."

Nick Oliveri to perform with Queens of the Stone Age

Nick Oliveri will perform with Queens of the Stone Age later this month.
The 42-year-old bassist - who was fired from the band in 2004 - is supporting his old group at The Forum in Los Angeles on October 31 and his former bandmate, singer Josh Homme, has asked him to join them for the encore.
Nick said: "Josh asked me to do six songs with Queens, like an encore set. A reunion, but not a reunion.
"I'm going to get up and play some bass and sing some songs at the end of the show. It should be interesting."
The rocker admitted he has been keen to play with the 'Feel Good Hit of the Summer' rockers many times since his departure and suggested he would like to do so again in the future.
Asked if he will play more shows with the band, he told NME magazine: "That's pretty much up to Josh. It's his band.
"I put myself out there a few times in the past 10 years. I'd go and see them play and say, 'Hey man, I'm here! Do you want me to sing a song?'
"I stopped asking after a while and then he asked me.
"It's not up to me, is what I'm saying."

David Bowie announces new single

David Bowie has recorded a jazz track with Maria Schneider.
The reclusive singer penned 'Sue (Or In a Season of Crime)' after seeing the Grammy award-winning composer and her 17-piece band perform in New York and the pair then worked on the track in several studio sessions this summer.
Producer Tony Visconti said: "Initially we worked from David's demo of the untitled song.
"Over the course of three long sessions in a rehearsal studio, Maria and core members of her band jammed over the bassline for several hours.
"After this, Maria and David met to finalise the arrangement and structure and Maria kept me in the picture by sending me musical scores of her updates - her writing was very meticulous."
Despite working on the song for so long, the 'Jean Genie' hitmaker didn't reveal the title of the eight-minute track until the last minute.
Tony added to NME magazine: "When the day arrived to record the piece with the full 17-piece band, David handed lyrics to Maria, myself and our engineer - and it was only then we learned it was called 'Sue'."
Maria had a "fantastic" time working with the 'Space Oddity' star and says their experiences have provided her with new career inspiration.
She said: "It was a fantastic collaboration that brought us to a place that I don't know either of us envisioned, but after the fact, felt entirely inevitable. He has been such a fresh inspiration for me."
The track will be released as a limited-edition 10-inch vinyl and download on November 17 and will feature on the forthcoming 'Nothing Has Changed' compilation which is released on the same day.

Hans Zimmer working with Johnny Marr on new album

Composer Hans Zimmer is working with Johnny Marr on his next album.
The Oscar-winning musician has previously collaborated with the ex-Smiths star on the scores for the movies 'Inception' and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' and now they are going to swap roles and Zimmer is going to write the arrangements for his next solo LP.
Zimmer told BANG Showbiz: "Johnny's work on film scores is great.
"I always want to work with Johnny, he's actually got a plan - I don't want to talk about it too much - and he's roped me into something now, we're going to be doing a bit of role reversal. I'm going to be his humble arranger, which is going to be fun. It will be a case of Johnny telling me what to do and I'll do it. It will be for his next album ... Johnny is the most generous, brilliant and wonderful and polymorphic human being I know. You want to go and talk to him about paintings, you want to talk to him about literature, you want to talk to him about politics you better put a lot of time aside."
The 'Interstellar' composer performs his first-ever concerts in the UK at the Eventim Hammersmith Apollo this Friday (10.10.14) and Saturday (11.10.14).
'Hans Zimmer Revealed' will feature music from his entire career and from films such as 'Gladiator', 'The Lion King' and 'The Dark Knight' trilogy and Marr - who has just released his new album 'Playland' - will be joining his friend on stage at both dates.
Zimmer, 57, revealed: "Johnny will be coming to play a little guitar, and maybe a couple of other people as well. I want to feature the musicians I work with and who I've been working with for 30 years because they are not boring they are a pretty exciting bunch.
"Johnny and I have previously done a couple of shows together, we did a performance at the premiere of 'Inception' that was really good - even if I say so myself!"
He also hinted at a possible appearance by Pharrell Williams, whom he worked with on 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'.
Zimmer said: "I know Pharrell Williams is London at the same time. Me and Pharrell are definitely going to have a drink, we'll see what else happens!"

BBC unveil star-studded track

One Direction, Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder, Sir Elton John and Chris Martin are among the stars to have joined forces to cover 'God Only Knows'.
The 27-member supergroup - which also includes Kylie Minogue, Dave Grohl, Florence Welch, Lorde, Brian May, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and Jake Bugg - have recorded a version of the Beach Boys' classic hit under the name The Impossible Orchestra to launch the new BBC Music season and the song was played simultaneously across the network's TV, radio and online channels at 8pm last night (07.10.14) and is now available to buy, with proceeds going to BBC Children in Need.
Also featured on the track are Paloma Faith, Chrissie Hynde, Jamie Cullum, Eliza Carthy, Baaba Maal, classical musicians Alison Balsom, Martin James Bartlett, Danielle de Niese and Nicola Benedetti and BBC presenters Zane Lowe, Lauren Laverne, Jools Holland and Gareth Malone, while the artists were backed by the Tees Valley Youth Choir and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson was also involved in the record and feels "honoured and humbled" to have his song chosen.
He said: "I just feel so incredibly humbled that the BBC would choose 'God Only Knows' to promote their new music initiative. All of the artists did such a beautiful job I can't thank them enough.
"I'm just honoured that 'God Only Knows' was chosen. 'God Only Knows' is a very special song. An extremely spiritual song and one of the best I've ever written."

McBusted sign record deal

McBusted are to release a new album.
The supergroup - consisting of McFly members Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd and Busted's James Bourne and Matt Willis - have signed a deal with Island Records following a bidding war with Sony Music and fans are likely to hear the record very soon.
Tom said: "There was interest really early on but I don't think we wanted to jump the gun."
Matt added: "Island Records felt like the obvious choice. McFly and Busted both signed there as 16 year olds. It's our home."
Ahead of the album, the band will release debut single 'Air Guitar' on November 23 and they can't wait for people to hear the song.
Tom told The Sun newspaper: "When you decide first singles, opinions can be really divided -- this was the first time everyone was united."
Danny added: "We said we wouldn't release anything unless we were all equally excited. Now we want to let the world hear it."
Despite their excitement over the track, the group insist they aren't putting "pressure" on themselves for it to be a number one.
Harry said: "We're definitely not putting pressure on ourselves like that. Once a song's done it's out of your control. You don't know who's going to play it."

Mark Morrison is back with grime track

Mark Morrison's comeback song is a "proper grime tune".
The 42-year-old rapper is relaunching his music career with new track '2Morrow', which also features Erene, Devlin & Crooked I.
Devlin was thrilled when Mark contacted him and asked him to be on the song and believes grime fans will love the track.
He told BANG Showbiz: "Mark's a good geezer, he reached out to me and put me on the track. It was really good to get on the song with him, if we can do it I'd love to perform it live with him. I'm looking forward to people hearing '2Morrow', it's a proper grime tune."
Devlin was a massive fan of Mark's biggest hit 'Return of the Mack' and thinks the song's everlasting popularity is proof of Mark's massive influence on British rap music.
'Watchtower' rapper Devlin said: "He left his mark on the scene without a doubt and now he's back. With 'Return of the Mack', look, any track you have that becomes that big is a great thing. There are kids now that know that song, they would have heard it at parties, maybe even weddings and they like it. It was, and still is, a brilliant song. I love it. Before Mark there weren't many successful British rappers."
Mark Morrison's song '2Morrow', is out now.
