Lana Del Rey is inspired by Courtney Love.
The 'Summertime Sadness' hitmaker has always looked up to the Hole frontwoman and rock 'n' roll legend, so feels proud to count her among her friends these days.
She said: "Courtney Love's a big inspiration. I like her, I talk to her a lot. I just went her show ... when she was playing in London. I like people who are similar to her, like Joni Mitchell types or Stevie Nicks, who are both strong female characters."
The 27-year-old star was strongly influenced by jazz legends Nina Simone and Billie Holliday on her second album 'Ultraviolence', and hopes she has done their musical legacy justice.
Speaking on France Inter radio station's 'Laura Leishman Project' show, she said: "It has a Pacific coast feel to me, I think it's guitar driven, there are references to Nina Simone. That's why I ended the track listing with a cover of 'The Other Woman'. I am inspired by early jazz culture. It's a West coast jazz fusion with a little bit of East coast fever."

The Saturdays "sex up" their dance routines when their partners attend shows.
Mollie King has revealed her loved-up bandmates - including Rochelle Humes, Frankie Sandford, Una Foden and Vanessa White - will be going all out to impress their boyfriends and husbands when they embark on their greatest hits tour in September.
She said: "It's funny when everyone's husbands and boyfriends are in, everyone tries to sex it up. So if Wayne [Bridge, Frankie's soccer star fiance] comes down I'll look over at Frankie and she's giving it extra large and I'm like, 'I saw you.' "
The 'What About Us' hitmakers will also be travelling with a full entourage as Frankie and Rochelle will bring their children on tour with them.
Rochelle, who has 12-month-old daughter Alaia-Mai with husband Marvin Humes, said: "There will be a lot of juggling. I'm not being without Alaia-Mai."
However, Una will leave her two-year-old daughter Aoife Belle - whom she has with rugby player husband Ben Foden - at home as she is due to start pre-school.
The red-haired star told Britain's OK magazine: "Aoife will be starting nursery so I'll pop back to see her."

Adele has finished work on her third album.
The 'Skyfall' singer has been busy in the studio, and fans won't have to wait long for her much-anticipated new record with reports it has been completed and is ready for release.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "The album is written, recorded and finished. Theoretically it could be released tomorrow if she wanted."
It is said Adele and her label are considering bringing out the album with little fanfare and no "publicity campaign", in a similar way to how Beyonce released her self-titled record earlier this year.
The insider added: "The plan is to release internationally on iTunes as a complete surprise without any previous promotion or build-up publicity campaign.
"The shock tactics worked amazingly well for Beyonce and the feeling is Adele's new album is so widely anticipated it doesn't need a long promotional build-up."
The project is still being kept a closely-guarded secret, with no release date set for the album - which will be the follow-up to '21', which sold almost 30 million copies worldwide.

Liam Gallagher terrified Kasabian when he started play fighting with them during a helicopter flight.
The 'Eez-eh' hitmakers bonded with the rocker when they supported his band Oasis during their run of hometown gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park in 2009.
They got on so well that guitarist Serge Pizzorno and singer Tom Meighan were taken to Scotland for lunch in the helicopter with Liam but decided to be mischievousness.
Serge said: "On the way back, Tom and Liam started play-fighting, rocking the thing, screaming. I'm sitting there going 'Maaaate!' This ain't like the back of a car, man, we're f***ing miles in the air. This rain starts coming down and the captain goes, 'Right, we've gotta land because the weather's terrible.' Liam's like, 'We're not landing, man, just drive through it!' - in the end we had to land. We had to emergency land in this airport."
The stars then went back to their hotel and Serge and Tom were still starstruck after spending time with Liam.
Serge gushed to NME magazine: "Liam's such an amazing dude. He's funny and proper looks after us. Those gigs were unbelievable."

The Housemartins will reform if The Smiths get back together.
The 'Caravan of Love' hitmakers - who split in 1988 after five years together - famously had a pact never to reunite, but have now slightly relaxed their stance safe in the knowledge their strict criteria is unlikely to be met.
Former bassist Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, said: " We've changed it to, 'We'll only reform if The Smiths reform first and they won't reform until the royal family abdicates', so I think we're safe on that one."
Norman is now best known for his DJing but admits it has taken until now for his 13-year-old son Woody to be impressed by his work.
He said: "He's just beginning to realise now he's 13 that his dad does have a cool job."
And the 50-year-old star - who also has four-year-old daughter Nelly with wife Zoe Ball - is hopeful his son could one day follow in his musical footsteps.
He added in a radio interview: "He's just got a bass off his godfather, so obviously that's a tradition in the family I'd like to continue. Bass players traditionally are the most well grounded, intelligent members. And they get the best chicks. Always."

Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno admits he doesn't know any of Metallica's music.
The 'Eez-eh' hitmakers will be headlining the Glastonbury festival alongside Arcade Fire and the legendary heavy metal band next week and they think the group are a "controversial" booking.
Serge said: "Metallica, they're massive. I'm being entirely honest with you, I don't really know their tunes but they're massive.
"They've been doing it for a long time, so they'll have a few tricks up their sleeves. It's been quite a controversial choice but I think that can also work in your favour. I've met Lars [Ulrich], the drummer. He came to a show of ours in San Francisco and was a lovely chap, so I wish him all the best."
However, the band - also made up of Tom Meighan, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews - have been checking out Arcade Fire and are a fan of their album 'Reflektor'.
Serge told NME magazine: "I've only seen little bits of pictures and stuff but they seem like their live show is interesting. They seem like a great band for a Friday night."

The 30-year-old pop star, who recently unveiled 'Crazy Stupid Love' as the lead single from her fourth studio album, has confirmed her new record's title and a November release date.

Lily Allen would swap Christmas for Glastonbury.
The 29-year-old singer, who has been to the music festival at Worthy Farm every year except one, can't wait to perform at the famous event for the fourth time next week after the release of her new album 'Sheezus'.
Speaking to DJ Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1's Breakfast Show, she said: "I go in hard. I was six-weeks-old the first time I went. I mean I would trade Christmas for Glastonbury.
"I didn't go once. But yeah I've been every year, even when I was preggers."
Lily is joined on the bill by headliners Arcade Fire, Kasbaian and Metallica, along with Ed Sheeran, Dolly Parton and other big name artists.
The main stage holds a special place in Lily's heart, because it's where she first started romancing her husband Sam Cooper when she performed and the pair now have two children, Ethel, two, and Marnie, 16 months.
She said: "I've only ever played on the Pyramid Stage, but it's a nice story though because the last time I played it and Sam, my husband, we got together that night! And now it's five years later and we have two children.
"We'd known each other since I was a teenager, but we decided we fancied each other on the night I played Glastonbury last."
The 'Hard Out Here' singer also revealed her father, actor Keith Allen, is a Glastonbury veteran and has already set up camp at the site in Somerset, even though the event doesn't start until Wednesday (25.06.14).
She said: "My dad's been there for a week, yeah he's setting up. He's taking a hot tub. Yes! He's quite funny.
"I'm a bit worried though because when my dad goes down to Glastonbury a month before it starts, I'm sort of worried about what sort of state he's going to be in by the time I get there."

Kasabian want to play a gig on Mount Everest.
The Leicester band, who are performing a huge homecoming concert tomorrow (21.06.14) before headlining Glastonbury next week, want to reach even greater heights by being the first act to perform on the mountain.
Singer Tom Meighan told the Daily Star newspaper: "We can only top headlining Glastonbury by being the absolute top of the pops and aiming big.
"We should do a gig up Mount Everest, that'd be immense. We'd love to headline Wembley Stadium too.
"We could sell Wembley out. It'd be fantastic to have a massive a show as we could in the capital."
The 'Eez-eh' band, also made up of guitarist Serge Pizzorno, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews, have just hit the number one spot with their new album '48:13' and they admit they've argued recently over the World Cup, with Serge supporting Italy and Tom rooting for England.
They now watch matches apart after Italy beat England 2-1 last Saturday (14.06.14).
Tom said: "We watched it in a hotel in Poland before a gig and Serge had to change rooms.
"Serge was meant to be in the room next to mine, but he went: 'No chance!' and moved to a different floor.
"He knew I'd have been knocking on his door the whole match, winding him up."
Meanwhile, the band insist they have no plans to record a soccer song because they don't think any band could record a better song than 'The Lightening Seeds' anthem, which was released in 1996.
Tom said: "You can't beat Three Lions, so why try? That was a one-off moment when Britpop was buzzing and Euro '96 was held in England."
The band will perform tomorrow at Victoria Park in Leicester with a DJ support set from Rudimental, before headlining Glastonbury along with Arcade Fire and Metallica.
