Boy George: Cull flop pop stars

Boy George says there should be a periodic "cull" of pop stars.
The Culture Club singer believed there are "too many" people making music so artists who are not doing so well should be told to find new careers in order to clear the way for new talent.
George explained: "There are probably too many people making records. I feel like they should have like a cull every so often to let you throw out clothes like 'it's just not working. Go and do something else."
While he thinks there are too many pop stars, the 53-year-old singer has praised 'The X Factor' as a "brilliant" show - even if he does find the talent search show "funny".
He added to BANG Showbiz: "I mean it's just brilliant, even the American version is really good, I just think it's the funniest thing. I don't really like those sort of reality shows much but who ever came up with that is so clever."
The 'Karma Chameleon' hitmaker has previously hinted he was asked to be a judge on the show.
When asked if he'd like to be a judge on the series, the 53-year-old singer replied: "How do you know that I already haven't been asked?"
He added: "No I'm not telling you. I mean at the moment I'm a bit too busy for that but we'll see, if it's still going. Maybe I'll do it on another type of TV show but I do find 'The X Factor' entertaining."

Ashlee Simpson seeks Diana Ross’ help to reignite career

Ashlee Simpson has asked Diana Ross to help her reignite her music career.
The 'Pieces of Me' singer, who recently married the legendary singer's son Evan Ross, has reportedly begged her to introduce her to new producers.
A source told OK! magazine: "Ashlee's constantly hitting up Diana for industry contacts. Diana has no problem helping her son out, and she really does like Ashlee, but she knows a spoiled princess when she sees one."
The insider added: "[Ashlee] is really pushing her luck with Diana."
The 30-year-old beauty married Evan, 26, in a lavish ceremony at Diana's house in Connecticut last month.
The 70-year-old star, who is ordained, was heavily involved in the ceremony and even officiated the couple's wedding and then went on to perform her ballad 'Endless Love' at the service afterwards.
The former Supremes singer previously dismissed rumours of tension between her and Ashlee.
Shortly after their wedding, she said: "I want only love, happiness, and joy for my son and his bride."

Rita Ora deletes message after promotional fail

Rita Ora has deleted a message urging fans to retweet her in return for her new single, after it was reposted just 2,000 times.
The 'I Will Never Let You Down' singer was left red-faced after asking her 3.94 million followers to retweet her 100,000 times in return for her latest track, as only a fraction of that figure reposted the message.
Taking to her Twitter account at 7.45am on Friday (31.10.14), she wrote: "Dropping my new song monday if this get 100,000 retweets (sic)"
However, after only a small number of people reposted the message, the 23-year-old star deleted the tweet, before retweeting a sympathetic message from a fan which was then also deleted.
The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' actress - who is currently dating the 24-year-old son of designer Tommy Hilfiger, Ricky Hilfiger - has no time to dwell on the poor reception of her announcement, however, as she is currently filming for her first series as a coach on 'The Voice UK'.
The awkward situation comes just a day after the blonde beauty slammed people on the social networking site for criticising the appearance of others.
On Thursday (30.10.14), she tweeted: "We all need to stop judging people just by the way they look. It actually disgusts me. This world is focusing on the wrong things."

Jimmy Page: Led Zeppelin were inspirational

Jimmy Page found being in Led Zeppelin "inspirational".
The legendary rocker admits he and his bandmates - Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and the late John Bonham - experienced "bursts of energy" that allowed them to create their classic songs because they shared the same vision.
He said: "As a band, we had a collective consciousness.
"It was so inspirational and songs like Rock And Roll just appeared out of thin air.
"It was like a huge burst of energy. Wonderful!"
While Jimmy has admitted a much-called for Led Zeppelin reunion is highly unlikely to happen, he is hoping to get back on the road himself next year.
He told The Sun newspaper: "Sometime next year, I hope to be seen playing.
"Even if it's near the end of next year, it doesn't matter as long as I've got it right live. I've got new music."
And though he is busy working on Led Zeppelin reissues, he also wants to return to the recording studio and "surprise" people with a new album.
Asked if he'll release a new record, he said: "I'd like to think so. Really I just want to go out there and present a few surprises to people."

Fleetwood Mac won’t headline Glastonbury

Michael Eavis insists Fleetwood Mac and Queen will not headline Glastonbury 2015.
Both bands have been heavily rumoured to be closing the Pyramid stage at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England, next June but the event organiser insists the speculation is false.
Asked about rumours regarding both bands potentially headlining in 2015, He told Music Week: "Queen? Not Queen, no. Fleetwood Mac don't seem to be available at the moment. But we've got three excellent headliners for next year."
The farm boss went on to confirm one of the headline acts has "been around for a long time" and that all three of the artists will be announced on April 1.
Michael's comments will come as a shock because Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks recently admitted the group had been in negotiations to headline the festival.
She said: "Glastonbury? You never know. You have to weave festivals in. It's being discussed."
Noel Gallagher recently indicated he was keen to step in and take a headline slot.
Asked if he is eyeing up a headline slot at the event, he said: "Am I eyeing it up? If I was asked if do it yeah - I'd headline the spoken word tent...
"If Michael Eavis is watching, yeah I'll do it ... I'm up for doing it and I'm going to be going anyway."

Lorde was attacked with rotting fruit

Lorde was once hit in the stomach with a rotting pear.
The 'Royals' singer insists she was "never bullied" during her time at school, but recalled one incident where she was struck "hard" with the overly-ripe fruit, which exploded on impact.
She said: "It hit me so hard in the stomach that it exploded everywhere.Look, you don't have to do anything in high school to get a rotten pear thrown at you. It's just what happens, and if you're annoyed about it, you are silly."
Though the 17-year-old singer thinks she is "weird", her quirks have never held her back socially.
She told the new issue of Billboard magazine: "As weird as I am with communicating, I actually did have a lot of friends in high school."
And among the things Lorde used to do with her friends was break into other people's boats and attempt to contact spirits with Ouija boards.
She recalled: "I live in a beach town, and there are these boats that sit on land, and we would break into them.
"We'd sit in them all night, doing Ouija boards and telling secrets. I remember that feeling so vividly, like, 'We are here. It's us against everything else.' "

Lionel Richie had video worries

Lionel Richie "worried to death" about his sculpted likeness in the 'Hello' video.
The 65-year-old singer famously portrayed an art teacher in love with a blind student in the 1984 promotional film and he was concerned that the sculpture - which has been the subject of much ridicule - looked so little like him but director Bob Giraldi insisted that was the intention.
Lionel said: "When I saw the bust, I said, 'Bob, it doesn't look like me.' He said, 'We'll talk about it later.'
"We filmed one segment. I went back and said, 'You really have to take a look at this.' We filmed the second segment, and here comes the third, where I had to shoot with the bust. Again, I said, 'Bob, it doesn't look like me.' Bob turned to me and said, 'Lionel, she's blind. End of subject.'
"In other words, if she got a perfect look, what kind of exceptional person is this? It's got to look a little skewed and off.
"But it worried me to death to stand next to this bust. I'm going, 'Oh, my God, I hope the world doesn't see me looking like this.' "
Lionel also revealed the original plan for the video didn't feature a blind woman.
He told Billboard magazine: "It was going to be a story about someone seeing someone else across the room and falling in love. Then Bob Giraldi came along and took the seeing part out."

FKA twigs ‘constantly’ recording

FKA twigs is "constantly" making new music.
The 26-year-old singer - whose real name is Tahliah Barnett - already has a host of new material for the follow-up to 'LP1', which was released in August this year, but doesn't know what will make the grade for her next record until she settles down to work on her new album.
Asked about her next album, she told BANG Showbiz: "I'm constantly making music.
" I don't really think about what format its going to take until I've got a bunch of things on the table and I think about it then."
Earlier this month, 'Skyfall' hitmaker Adele made a rare public appearance to see FKA twigs perform in London and though the 'Pendulum' singer admits they have never spoken before, she is now looking forward to meeting the award-winning star because they have things in common now.
twigs, who missed out on picking up the Barclaycard Mercury Prize last night after her shortlisted album lost out to Young Fathers' record 'Dead', said: "I haven't met Adele, I once saw her at the XL Christmas party but I didn't say hi, but next time I see her we'll have a talking point."
The singer recently admitted she has been bombarded with racist abuse over her relationship with Robert Pattinson.
She tweeted: "I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week.
"Racism is unacceptable in the real world and it's unacceptable online."
