Pink Floyd have most pre-ordered album of all-time

Pink Floyd's new album is the most pre-ordered LP of all-time.
Nick Mason and David Gilmour reunited this year to make 'The Endless River' - which features multiple parts recorded by late keyboard player Rick Wright for their last record 'Division Bell' before he passed away in 2008 aged 65.
Today (03.11.14), Amazon Music announced the album - which comes out on November 10 and is the band's first in 20 years - has overtaken artists such as One Direction, Robbie Williams, Coldplay and David Bowie, to become the most pre-ordered record in the history of Amazon.co.uk.
Speaking about the incredible achievement, Steve Bernstein, Director of Amazon EU Digital Music, said: "Pink Floyd now have the most pre-ordered album on Amazon.co.uk, which is an outstanding achievement for the band and also it proves that they remain one of the most popular groups to grace the UK music scene. After waiting 20 years, our customers have relished being able to listen to new work by Pink Floyd."
Other artists to make the top 10 pre-order chart include Susan Boyle, Take That and the late Amy Winehouse.

FKA twigs to record for Bond

FKA twigs is to work on the next James Bond soundtrack.
The work of 26-year-old singer - whose real name is Tahliah Barnett - was introduced to 'Bond 24's director Sam Mendes by 'Skyfall' theme singer Adele, and he thinks her songs will fit perfectly with the next movie in the franchise.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "twigs met with top executives and they told her Mendes loves her music and wants some of it in 'Bond'.
"He was nudged in her direction by Adele, who loves twigs. If she gets 'Bond' she'll become a wellknown name."
However, while twigs - who is dating actor Robert Pattinson - will feature on the soundtrack, Adele is expected to record the theme song for the second movie in a row.
The source added: "Adele will still be the iconic songstress of 'Bond 24' and is writing a new song for it."
Last month, 'Skyfall' hitmaker Adele made a rare public appearance to see FKA twigs perform in London and though the 'Pendulum' singer admits they have never spoken before, she is now looking forward to meeting the award-winning star because they have things in common now.
twigs, who missed out on picking up the Barclaycard Mercury Prize last week after her shortlisted album lost out to Young Fathers' record 'Dead', said: ''I haven't met Adele, I once saw her at the XL Christmas party but I didn't say hi, but next time I see her we'll have a talking point.''

Take That take dance lessons

Take That have been undertaking emergency dance lessons.
The 'These Days' singers - Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald - are reportedly worried about looking like "boring old men" on stage so have been having intensive choreography sessions following the departure of Jason Orange, who was widely regarded as the group's best mover.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The boys know they need to put in extra leg work now that they're a threesome, so Gary's roped in a pro choreographer.
"They've spent hours learning new dance routines.
"Take That tours are always huge productions and they don't want to look like boring old men on stage."
And it seems fans may not have too long to wait to see the trio's new moves.
A fan tweeted to ask: "SURELY the next lot of big news is going to be the tour? (sic)"
Gary replied simply: "Yep."
While the 'Patience' hitmakers are "committed" to their new line-up, it was previously revealed they have left the door open should Jason wish to return in future.
A source said: "If Jason had wanted to come back and rejoin his bandmates, he would have been very welcome - and that was made clear to him.
"They're committed to moving forward as a trio but the door will always be open for Jason."

Ozzy Osbourne leads Wayne Static tributes

Ozzy Osbourne has led tributes to Wayne Static after he died aged 48.
The Black Sabbath singer has taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the heavy metal outfit Static-X frontman - known for his huge hair - and admitted the late star's passing is a "tragic loss" for music.
He wrote: "Very sad to hear of @IAmWayneStatic's passing. Spent a lot of time together on @TheOzzfest tours. A tragic loss. Love to his family/friends (sic)"
News of Wayne's passing emerged over the weekend when his publicist confirmed the singer had died.
He said in a statement: "Platinum selling musician Wayne Richard Wells, better known as Wayne Static, passed away at the age of 48.
"Wayne Static was the enigmatic former frontman and namesake of Static-X, who later forged a successful solo career.
"Wayne was scheduled to co-headline tours with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool over the next several months. No additional information is available at this time."
Several other stars also paid tribute to the singer including Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, who admitted he was "devastated".
He tweeted: "I am absolutely devastated to hear about Wayne Static's death. A good man and a good friend. My thoughts are with his family and friends."
Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix also took to Instagram to post a picture of Wayne, whose cause of death is not yet known, and attached a tribute that appeared to suggest he may have passed away from an overdose.
He wrote: "RIP WAYNE.... THIS IS SO SAD. TOO MANY MUSICIANS ARE DYING FROM OVERDOSES. IM SERIOUS ADDICTION IS REAL AND TAKES FOOLS OUT. NO ONE IS INVINCIBLE. SO GLAD I LIVE A SOBER LIFE TODAY. Matt Willis: Busted split was like being dumped

Matt Willis felt like he'd been "dumped" after Busted split up.
The 31-year-old has spoken about feeling lost when the 'Year 3000' singers broke up in 2005, because he didn't know what he should do next.
He confessed: "I felt dumped. I had to do something else musically. I did a solo record after Busted but I didn't feel like it was my calling."
The singer-songwriter - who is now in the supergroup McBusted - was admitted to rehab three times in the three years after the band split, and has now opened up about the turbulent period of his life.
Remembering the period after the band broke up, he said: "When Busted finished I could have done a lot of good things but I chose to get high and p**sed all the time, which was a f**king big mistake."
The father-of-two - who is now married to television presenter Emma Willis - said that although it was a dangerous time, he does not regret his drug-fuelled lifestyle.
He added: "I don't think I'd change that,
"That period of my life made me who I am today. I'm actually glad that certain s**t things happened to me because it made me appreciate how great all the good things actually are."

Calvin Harris cut from Rihanna’s album

Calvin Harris has been cut from Rihanna's new album.
The 'Blame' hitmaker sent his 'We Found Love' collaborator some material to feature on her new record, which is rumoured to be titled 'Lost Files', but admits it didn't make the cut.
He said: "No I'm not on the Rihanna album.
"I did a few things for it but they don't get back to you. There are a lot of people involved!
"She listens to everything - I know that - but she's got a strong idea and identity and an idea of what her album should sound like."
However, Calvin - who, along with Rihanna, is signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation record label - insists he's not bothered about being snubbed from her latest LP.
He told The Sun newspaper: "It's not like they put me on 'We Found Love' because I'm signed to Roc, they did it because it's a f**king good song.
"But it's OK because I'm working on my stuff and it's going fine so I'm not concerned about it."
The 30-year-old DJ - who split from Rita Ora earlier this year - also admitted that some of his songs are based on his personal relationships.
He added: "With lyrics I have a title and a concept. I have an idea. Partners do inspire songs.
"'Summer' was about someone, the Rita one 'Never Let You Down' is about someone, 'Feel So Close' is about someone. So yeah..."

Debbie Harry was always ‘sexy’

Debbie Harry was always a sex symbol.
The Blondie singer admits her mother was worried about her from a young age because men found her attractive but she has never shied away from the attention.
The 69-year-old star said: "Even as a little girl, I attracted sexual attention. My mother used to be very concerned about it. But for good or for bad, I never felt compelled to hide my sexuality."
Debbie also claims she used to be a "poet groupie" who used to be fascinated by Gregory Corso, even though she was "terribly afraid" of him.
She said: "The poet Gregory Corso used to hang out on East Seventh Street between Avenues A and B, and he was such a flirt! I was terribly afraid of him, because he was so forward. But he was a brilliant poet, so I would dare myself to walk down that block because I had a weird temptation to see him. I guess I was sort of a poet groupie."
The 'Heart of Glass' hitmaker never felt the urge to settle down because the idea of marriage makes her feel "uncomfortable".
She said: "Perhaps I was ahead of my time in terms of women's consciousness. In those days, the wedding vows were 'Love, honor, and obey,' and I felt that I had more to offer in a partnership. I wasn't thinking in terms of morals or anything grand; I just felt uncomfortable with it."
And the legendary singer thinks she has become more conservative in recent years.
She told Harper's Bazaar magazine: "I don't know if I'm the risk taker I once was. But I've always been determined not to accept the status quo. Had I settled down for any other life, I would've been unhappy. I didn't really have a choice."

Dave Grohl bored of studios

Dave Grohl is bored by the idea of simply recording an album in a studio.
The Foo Fighters frontman and his bandmates travelled to various cities in the US to record tracks for their new album 'Sonic Highways' - with the process captured in an accompanying TV series with the same name - and now he can't imagine returning to a straightforward recording process in the future.
He explained to Q magazine: "Ultimately, this is one hell of a f**king machine that's gonna spray this album everywhere...But you have to balance that with substance.
"More than a reality show, more than a live concert series. It's part of the reason that we got deeper into the concept, because we would love people to learn as much as be entertained.
"But I can't imagine just going into a studio and making another record. It seems so boring to me."
Dave recently explained the group explored the "regional relevance of music" while recording 'Sonic Highways'.
He said: "Basically, the process is we come to a city and we spend a week and we start recording an instrumental, because I interview all of these different musicians from that city.
"I talk about the regional relevance of the music from that city, the cultural influence, that 'made-for-the-sound' of the music.
"There's no way that you can tell the history of a city's music in one hour, so we have to do it in a way that relates to the band and goes from point A to point B and becomes a song."

Noel Gallagher not looking back on album

Noel Gallagher's new album is "not reflective".
The 47-year-old rocker - who was a member of Oasis until his departure in 2009 caused their split - will release his "space jazz" and "disco" LP 'Chasing Yesterday' in March and despite an apparently nostalgia-yearning title, he insists the record is not a look at his past.
Speaking about the title, he said: "It kind of fits the record. The songs are directed at two people, in a narrative sense - boy, girl, girl, boy. So it's not me looking back. It's not a reflective album at all."
The 'Don't Look Back in Anger' singer has produced the album for the first time and admits he enjoyed the experience because he could make choices he would otherwise have been advised not to.
He explained to Q magazine: "I just thought, 'F**k it, this time I haven't got a producer telling me what to do', So I left three big songs off that other bands would probably say, 'What the f**k has he done that for?' I did it deliberately to make way for these songs that were a bit more left-field."
