Lawson confused by Zay’s reason for leaving 1D

Lawson are "confused" by Zayn Malik's reason for departing One Direction.
The boy band - consisting of Andy Brown, 28, Ryan Fletcher,25, Joel Peat, 24, and Adam Pitts, 24 - don't understand why he said he wanted to lead a "normal life", when he has been working on a solo career and been seen in the studio with producer Naughty Boy.
The 'Juliette' hitmakers told Olivia Jones from Scottish radio station Clyde 3: "I think fair play to him, for doing his own thing and we think the lads are always going to do fine anyway, you know they're the biggest boy band, whatever, in the world ... I'm sure he's going to
do well ... I'm just a bit confused I thought he wanted to be a normal 23 year old or whatever he is."
The British pop band - who had hits with 'Taking Over Me' and 'Chapman Road' - are set to make their return to the spotlight after taking a year out to make new music.
On the progress of their next album, the band said: "It's completely finished, yes. Well we thought it was finished out in Nashville, we've recorded probably 17 songs out there. We came back home and then Andy has this tendency to, we're all kind of happy, we've finished the album, it's quite a creative time for him and suddenly he just gets more inspiration and then a couple of weeks after we got back from Nashville he kind of sent us these two new demos that he'd just recorded and we decided straight away they have to be on the album so we got our producer, John Fields, to come over to London and we did two final songs in London and this was about two months ago now."
Lawson's new single 'Roads' is out now.

James Corden: No one can replace Zayn in 1D

James Corden thinks Zayn Malik is irreplaceable in One Direction.
The 'The Late Late Show...' host thinks 1D are right to continue as a four-piece in the wake of Zayn's departure from the boy band as it wouldn't be right to add a new fifth member.
But Corden firmly believes the pop group have a "rich" future together as a foursome.
Talking on the red carpet at the British Television Academy Awards at London's Theatre Royal, the 36-year-old TV personality said: "No one can replace Zayn, it's about the four of them and they have a very rich and brilliant future ahead of them."
The former 'Gavin & Stacey' star is going to be the first person to interview all of One Direction - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan - since Zayn left in March.
When asked if he was nervous about the interview on his US talk show, he said: "I'm not nervous, I saw them on Friday ... And I'm seeing them tomorrow, we're filming a skit so it's all good."
On whether he was looking forward to speaking with the 'Steal My Girl' hitmakers, he told ITN: "It's going to be great. I consider them friends, so I just hope we make a fun hour of TV."
Corden jetted in from US especially for the BAFTAs on Sunday (10.05.15) and flew back this morning (11.05.15).
Talking to the BBC, he said: "I'm on the aeroplane longer than I am in London."
One Direction will be on 'The Late Late Show with James Corden' on 14 May.

Janet Jackson rumoured to be readying new LP

Janet Jackson is rumoured to be releasing a new LP this summer.
The 'Love Will Never Do' singer recently moved record labels to Atlantic Records and according to a list of release dates sent out by the label, Janet, 48, is expected to drop new music on 10 July.
Janet's fan forum on website Stereogum, says pre-orders will be available by 7 July.
The forum Janet.Club.com posted a photo of an album box with "reserve your copy today" written on it, in what looks like a record store.
The Twitter post accompanying the photo read: " @harmonicait ...Call the FYE in BKLYN and ask if Janet is in their release sched. They say yes. From the store... (sic)"
Neither Janet - the sister of Michael Jackson - or her label representatives have confirmed the release date of the untitled LP or addressed the rumours.
However, sources including Gigwise and Stereogum
have asked major music retailers who have confirmed she is on their future releases list.
This will be the R&B singer's 11th studio LP and her first since 2008's 'Discipline', which was released on Island Records.

Kanye enlists Diddy for album

Diddy is producing Kanye West's next album.
The 45-year-old rapper has confirmed he is working on 'SWISH', but admitted he is unsure of his final involvement in the project.
When asked about his role on the record, he said: "I don't know yet. I'm definitely producing on his album, but I don't know how it's going to end up."
Regardless of his role, the 'Coming Home' hitmaker - who recently welcomed Kanye into his producer supergroup The Hitmen - insists he's "having a lot of fun" in the studio with the 37-year-old musician, who released his latest single 'All Day' in March.
Speaking to Billboard, he continued: "It's up to Kanye and how he sees the album going. But we're definitely working together, producing a lot of records together and having a lot of fun."
Last week, Kanye - who has 22-month-old daughter North with wife Kim Kardashian West - announced he was changing the name of his forthcoming seventh studio album from 'So Help Me God' to 'SWISH', but admitted his indecisive nature might mean it changes again before the LP is released.
He wrote on Twitter: "I'm changing my album name to SWISH.
"I might change it again but that's the name now."

Damon Albarn: Blur’s album like an accidental pregnancy

Damon Albarn has compared Blur's new album to an accidental pregnancy.
The 47-year-old singer-songwriter admitted the band - which also features Graham Coxon, Dave Rowntree and Alex James - had no plans to make a new LP, so felt surprised when 'The Magic Whip' came to fruition.
He confessed: "The story of this record can be compared to a middle-aged couple, out of the blue, receiving the news that there was going to be a new baby, after the original children had grown up.
"We had no intention of having another kid and then suddenly, almost miraculously, one appeared."
However, Damon said it felt refreshing to work on the record - which is their first since 2003's 'Think Tank' - because he didn't have to push for it to happen as "responsibilities were being shared".
He continued: "Graham is very much instrumental in this.
"In a way, it's his baby, although I suppose I am part of its miraculous conception. The reason why I'm so excited about it and happy about it is that the responsibilities were being shared for the first time in maybe 20 years and that's really important."
And although they do not currently have plans to create another album, 46-year-old guitarist Graham said it has helped them realise how they can work together more effectively.
He told Billboard: "It's weird that we're between 45 and 50 and we're only just realizing the potential of our relationship musically.
"This process has shown us a lot more than I ever thought it would, what we like about each other and what we both enjoy about the music that we make together ... If we had done this 20 years ago, it would have been a lot easier."

Gwen Stefani praises Charli XCX and Sia

Gwen Stefani says Charli XCX and Sia gave her a "gift".
The 45-year-old singer - who is expected to release her third solo LP later this year - said enlisting the help of the solo stars has reignited her passion for music.
She told British Cosmopolitan magazine: "Charli XCX, Calvin Harris, Miguel - they gave me a gift. And Sia she's a f***ing genius."
Despite not meeting the 22-year-old 'Break The Rules' hitmaker, Charli, the 'Voice US' coach has nothing but praise for her.
In a previous interview with Spin.com, she gushed: "Yeah, the way that Charli and I worked together was that we really didn't work together. She wrote with Benny [Blanco] and then I wrote with Benny separately. I wrote her an email and was like, 'This is so weird that I haven't ever met you and now we have this song.'
"I think out of all the writers out there, male and female, I really like her style the most. I think that she comes up with really good melodies.
"I feel really lucky to work with her in the weird way that we did. It'd be interesting to actually be in the studio with her. I'd be intimidated. It's always awkward for me to be vulnerable when I'm in the studio with people, but sometimes really great stuff comes out of that. You just have to be brave enough to do it."

Sam Smith’s album plans on hold

Sam Smith's plans for a second album are on hold.
The 22-year-old singer recently cancelled a series of tour dates in order to undergo emergency surgery on his vocal cords, and his next LP - the follow-up to 2014's 'In the Lonely Hour' - has also been delayed by the health scare.
A source revealed: "Sam hopes to be back in eight weeks to finish his promotional commitments for his debut album.
"After that the doctors have told him to give his vocal cords some time out before coming back with his second album."
The 'Lay Me Down' hitmaker is expected to have made a full recovery after eight weeks, although health experts have warned him he could cause "serious damage" if he dives back into singing by making his sophomore record.
The source told the Daily Star newspaper: "The prognosis for surgery is good but Sam has been told to see this as a huge warning.
"He has not stopped working and performing since his album was released a year ago and he is risking serious damage to his voice. He has been a victim of his own success."
Meanwhile, Sam's songwriting partner Jimmy Napes recently revealed the pair have already written plenty of material for the collection, although are yet to record any of the tracks.
He said: "We have never stopped writing but haven't had time to go in the studio to put anything down."

Ed Sheeran: Musicians pressure themselves too much

Ed Sheeran thinks musicians put too much pressure on themselves to look perfect.
The 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker, who previously revealed he used to wear a girdle to make himself look slimmer on stage, insists he doesn't let critics who keep close tabs on his weight get to him.
He said: "I've never tried to look a certain way, and at the beginning the media was not nice, but I never really cared. Taylor [Swift] is the same way. I think the pressure on artists - both male and female - to look good in the media actually comes from the artists themselves. In reality you need to live your life."
The 24-year-old star struggled to make a name for himself when he was first starting out, but claims giving up on his dreams wasn't an option.
He said: "It was hard, but throwing in the towel never made any sense to me. Simply, I didn't have a plan B.
"When I started, I wasn't that good, but I knew if I just kept playing, I'd get better."
Despite his success, Ed says he is still adjusting to fame.
He added to America's Glamour magazine: "It's a weird adjustment, but I found that I shouldn't question it. I try not to think, 'Oh, I'm here with Elton John - this is weird!' Just roll with it."
