Demi Lovato is not "afraid" of speaking out against her critics.
The 22-year-old star claims she wouldn't think twice about blasting someone if they badmouthed her or did anything to sabotage her career, but believes most other singers would be too scared.
She explained: "There are a lot of girls in pop.
"They have bada*s lyrics, but I feel like I'm the only person other than Rihanna and Nicki Minaj who isn't afraid to say, 'Try something on me and I'll f**king beat your a*s'."
The 'Heart Attack' hitmaker - who recently released her new single 'Cool For the Summer' - continued to say she reckons some stars try to create a tough persona but their music doesn't match their attitude.
She told the September issue of Cosmopolitan magazine: "There are people who can dress up and play the part, but their music doesn't say it."
Although she has yet to release the follow-up to 2013's 'Demi', last year she teased people will hear the real her on her upcoming fifth LP as she has "never been so sure" of herself.
She explained: "I've never been so sure of myself as an artist when it comes down to confidence, but not only personal things, but exactly what I want my sound to be and what I know I'm capable of and this album will give me the opportunity to show people what I can really do."

Carl Barât and Pete Doherty argued over singing on the new Libertines album.
The pair have shared vocals in the past but they admitted they had several heated rows during the making of their third studio LP 'Anthems For Doomed Youth' because they each wanted to sing a greater proportion of the tunes.
Carl told The Sun newspaper: "There was a lot of vying for the most vocal airtime. But that competitiveness is part of our chemistry. We both fought our corners."
In the end, the men decided to split the vocals equally between them on the record, which will be released next month.
The album will be the first to be released by the band - also featuring John Hassall and Gary Powell - in 11 years, following their eponymous sophomore collection in 2004, and Pete previously joked he had tried to recruit a "warlord's daughter" to play percussion on the LP.
Speaking while at a rehab facility in Thailand, he said: "I've come up with some good riffs too. Like simple bass lines and I'm trying to get this warlord's daughter to play drums for me but she's off the radar at the moment. So hopefully we'll have some new ideas when Carl next bounds into view in his bandana and leathers."

The Pussycat Dolls are reportedly planning a reunion.
The band ended in 2010 following a feud linked to Nicole Scherzinger's desire to make it big as a solo star, but since her latest release 'On the Rocks' failed to chart, the girls are planning on putting the past behind them and reforming.
A source close to the ladies revealed: "The band are in talks about reuniting soon and they are trying to see if they can get all of the girls together to do it.
"The fall-outs and bitching from back in the day are all water under the bridge now."
Nicole - who was axed by her record label RCA earlier this year - is apparently in talks with former members Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton and is keen to make amends.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "Nicole has seen most of the girls on and off over the years and she's ready to get back together.
"Rather than trying to patch up their differences, it's more about working out how to get everyone in the studio and see what it will actually sound like."
The news comes after the 37-year-old star - who had hits such as 'Don't Cha', 'Buttons' and 'When I Grow Up' with the group - recently teased she would like to get back together with the Dolls.
Asked about the possibility of a reunion, she said: "I don't see why not. I miss it. I miss the girls.
"It was such a crazy time for us that stepping away from it now and taking some time away from it I'm like 'I wanna be able to do it again and really enjoy it and take it in and enjoy the travels with the girls'.
"I think in due time if it's meant to be, that would be a lot of fun and a blessing."

One Direction was never Zayn Malik's type of music.
Although the 22-year-old singer was a member of the chart-topping boyband for almost five years before he quit in March, Liam Payne says Zayn was never a fan of the music they made.
Speaking on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, Liam, 21, said: "One Direction was never his type of music so he went and found something else.
"He's off doing his own thing and it's nice that we've all banded together and we're stronger than ever."
Zayn recently signed a solo deal with RCA and Liam wished his former bandmate luck, saying: "Obviously he's really happy and congratulations to him on his new record deal, it's cool. Lots of music and lots of love.
"There's too much history for there not to be love, it's just one of those things. If your heart's not in it, you can't stay."
And Liam also revealed that he and Zayn wrote a lot of music together in the past, which they are hoping to give to other artists.
He said: "I did a lot of writing with Zayn actually which was cool and we've got stuff that we're gonna give to other artists."
One Direction shocked fans when they released a new single, 'Drag Me Down', out of the blue last week and Liam compared it to when Beyonce Knowles dropped her surprise fifth album on iTunes in 2013.
Revealing it was influenced by The Police, Avicii and Maroon 5, he said: "This year we went Beyonce style and dropped a song secretly."

Liam Payne is excited to hear Zayn Malik's solo material.
The 22-year-old sensationally walked out on One Direction in March and is now launching his own music career but Liam has insisted there are no hard feelings between the band and Zayn.
Liam said: "I'm dead excited to hear some of his stuff, I did a lot of work with him in the studio when he was in the band. We used to stay up late and do rap stuff which is quite interesting... because I like to produce rap beats and stuff. He's got a great voice and he's a very talented young man and we wish him all the best of luck."
Zayn was slammed for using the hashtag real music when announcing his solo career, with some fans taking it as a criticism of One Direction but Liam, 21, doesn't think that's true.
Speaking to Magic Radio's Jo Parkerson after Zayn congratulated the group on their surprise new single 'Drag Me Down', the first since he left, Liam said: "I don't think he meant it that way...at least I hope he didn't mean it that way ...and the way that he congratulated us on the single I think covers it."
Meanwhile, although the group are not in constant contact with Zayn, Liam insisted he understands why he left One Direction and thinks he made the right decision.
He said: "I haven't spoken to him recently and he's off doing his own thing and taking his time..... it is a difficult thing to leave the band.... but his heart wasn't in it and you have to go with your heart and say I can't do this anymore and there is something out there that I do want to do that is different...and that's fine."
However, when asked if he would follow in Zayn's footsteps and launch a solo career, Liam said: "I'm more interested in the writing side of things if I'm honest...I love being in the band. I don't know if I could do it by myself now, it's all too comfortable."
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that 'Drag Me Down' set set a number of new streaming records upon its release on Friday (31.07.15).
The song broke the record for the greatest number of streams over one day (over 4.75m), smashing the record previously set by Wiz Khalifa with See You Again (feat.Charlie Puth).
It also shot straight to the top of the Spotify Global Chart on its first day of release, the first track ever to achieve this in Spotify history and almost 1.2 million One Direction fans worldwide listened to Drag Me Down on its first day on Spotify.
Listen to Liam's full interview on Magic Radio Saturday 8th August from 3pm.

Motorhead's Lemmy has been added to the lineup for 'Gutterdammerung' - a rock 'n' roll live movie concept tour.
The 'Ace of Spades' rocker will join previously announced Grace Jones, Iggy Pop, Eagles of Death Metal's Jesse Hughes and Slayer's Tom Araya.
The 69-year-old musician - whose band claim to be the loudest band in the world - will be playing a crazed general leading the Armour Cavalry in the "silent" movie/tour.
Announcing the news, Lemmy, real name Ian Fraser Kilmister, commented: "If you don't like it...f**k off!"
Meanwhile, Tom Araya will be a mysterious messenger of darkness "bringing the light" by setting the silver screen on fire with a truly primal performance.
Gutterdammerung is the work of Belgian-Swedish visual artist Bjorn Tagemose who has worked with Vogue and Louis Vuitton in the past.
It's described as a part rock show part immersive cinema experience.
Following the tradition of classic movies of 1920's Hollywood, the film is mostly silent however, the main difference is instead of a single piano there will be a live rock band with special effects from the film exploding into the audience.
It's expected to hit the road in late 2015 or early 2016.
