Ana Matronic: ‘Michael Jackson thought he was immortal’

Ana Matronic thinks Michael Jackson was convinced he would "live forever".
The Scissor Sisters singer remembers watching a documentary about the singer - who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 - where he was asked to contemplate death and seemed baffled by the thought there would come a day when he'd no longer be alive.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "There is a documentary from years ago and there is one part that I was really shocked by and it wasn't anything that other people were on to.
"There was moment were they asked him, there are looking at a sarcophagus and I think it was in Michael's home; and they are asking do you know where this comes from and he explained it and he said he was interested in Egypt and stuff - and then they asked if that is what he would like to do when he dies. Michael looked at the interviewer like he had two heads; like he had never ever considered dying.
"That for me was sort of the most telling and disconcerting moment of that documentary. It was like he thought he would live forever."
The 41-year-old star - who has recently released a book, 'Robot Takeover: 100 Iconic Robots of Myth, Popular Culture & Real Life', through publishers Cassell Illustrated - thinks Michael struggled because he was "robbed" of his childhood and was unable to "express himself" properly.
She added: "I don't want to say that I feel pity for him or that I feel sorry for him but I do see him as someone who's childhood had been robbed from him.
"He was somebody who had to work from the time he was a baby or you know a very, very young child and his incredibly obvious talent led to his being worked like an adult and I think that he was someone who was not allowed to express himself."

Keith Richards says Mick Jagger is his siamese twin

Keith Richards and Sir Mick Jagger are like "Siamese twins".
The ageing rockers first met at primary school in the 1950s and set up one of the world's biggest rock bands of all-time, The Rolling Stones, when they were teenagers in 1962.
Although they have had a few ups and downs over the years and have often publicly criticised each other, Keith insists their friendship is more like a brotherly bond that can never be "cut" no matter what.
Keith, 71, said: "We've stuck together, it's almost like we're Siamese twins. Nobody would do the cut. He's amazing. There's a lot of respect between Mick and I. People hear about the squabbles here and there but 95 per cent of the time we're working totally together and are very tight. You can't work with an enemy, not unless you're perverse or something."
Meanwhile, the 'Paint it Black' guitarist has made his second solo album - which has a heavy blues and reggae influence - and he thinks his pal Mick will be right behind his LP 'Crosseyed Heart', which is out next week.
Keith told The Sun newspaper: "I don't think he's even heard it yet, I think he's waiting. He'll probably like some of the songs and then he might just say, 'Hmmmm', you know, just to be iffy. I also think he'll pretty much say, 'Why didn't you save that one for The Stones?' And my answer to that will be, 'Sorry, you were hibernating!' "

Crowded House to re-release Help Is Coming for charity

Crowded House is re-releasing 'Help Is Coming' to raise funds for children affected by the Refugee Crisis.
The Australian band, who originally released the track in 2000, has teamed up with Benedict Cumberbatch to re-issue the song along with a video introduction by the actor and heartbreaking footage of refugees fleeing war-town Syria.
Singer Neil Finn said: "There is such a huge scale and urgency to the current refugee crises that barely a day goes by without some crushing image or news account to confront us. We can't be silent any more.
"These are good people that just want to find somewhere safe to create a better life for their families."
In the touching video introduction, Benedict said: "As people watching this tragedy unfold from the safety of our homes, with our safe children, we want to say that we see you, we hear you and help is coming."
The hunk then encouraged people to put their hands in their pockets and donate money to Save The Children.
The charity will use the funds to help the refugees on their journey from Syria through to Europe.
Justin Forsyth, CEO of Save the Children, said: "Europe is facing its worst refugee crisis since the Second World War and it is unacceptable that children are dying on our doorstep."
Writers Caitlin Moran and Peter Paphides came up with the idea to re-release the single after they were touched by the the image of the three-year-old refugee Aylan Kurdi, whose body was sadly washed up on a Turkish beach.
The song is available to download and to buy on vinyl.

Pete Doherty is ‘OK’, say The Libertines

The Libertines have issued a statement assuring fans that Pete Doherty is "safe" and well after he went missing on Thursday night (10.09.15).
The 'Can't Stand Me Now' singer panicked his bandmates Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell after he went AWOL when they were due on stage at The Electric Ballroom in Camden Town, London.
The indie rockers had to cancel the show and rumours spread online that Pete - who is a recovering drug addict - had locked himself in a Wetherspoon's pub toilet.
The Libertines have now reassured their supporters that Pete is OK, announcing via Twitter: "We can assure everyone that Peter is safe. Clearly this is a private matter, but we also feel it necessary to let people know he is OK."
The band left disgruntled fans waiting inside the venue for three hours while they frantically searched for the missing lead co-frontman, before calling off the concert.
And although he's been found, the group's planned show at the Ritz in Manchester tonight (11.09.15) is still off.
A statement posted on Facebook stated: "Due to unforeseen circumstances The Libertines have had to postpone their sold out shows at the Electric Ballroom in Camden and at the Ritz in Manchester tomorrow night. Peter, Carl, John and Gary apologise whole heartedly to their fans and will reschedule both shows as soon as possible. This will not affect any of The Libertines other commitments. HQ."
The gigs were part of The Libertines intimate gig tour to promote their third album 'Anthems For Doomed Youth' - which was released today.

Sigala’s been told Easy Love is better than ABC

Sigala has been inundated by music fans who have told him they prefer his single 'Easy Love' to the original Jackson 5 song it's based on.
The British DJ-and-producer has risen to the top of the UK singles chart with his monster hit - which is based on a sample from classic Motown track 'ABC' and features an 11-year-old Michael Jackson on lead vocals when it was released in February 1970.
Sigala insists the feedback he's had on his song has been universally positive and he hasn't had any hardcore Jackson fans complaining about his re-working of the tune.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Sigala said: "Do you what? All I've had is people come up to me to tell me they don't like the original but they like my new version. I was told the other day that my version has gone higher in the charts than the original actually did which I think is absolutely amazing. I just assumed the original was a number one but it actually only got to like to number eight."
Sigala - real name Bruce Fielder - got to meet Tito Jackson at his studio and was thrilled when the Jackson Five star gave 'Easy Love' his seal of approval.
The electronic musician insists he was never nervous about sampling such an iconic hit as 'ABC' when he was creating his song but only because he didn't think it would become such a huge hit.
He explained: "I wasn't nervous about it, but I didn't realise it would become this monster of a tune so I didn't think about it at all, I just thought it would be a giggle and just did it."
Recalling his meeting with Tito, 61, he said: "Tito was actually working in the same building as me and he had heard about the song but he hadn't actually heard it so we thought it would be really cool to set up a little meeting. We did and he loved the track. We actually approached them (The Jacksons) really early on just to make sure we could sample the track - I've heard some horror stories about artists using samples and basing their whole song or campaign around it and then it doesn't work out. We were lucky to get clearance on it really early on."
'Easy Love' is available to download and stream now and the video can be viewed on YouTube and Vevo.

Duran Duran see themselves in One Direction

Duran Duran say One Direction remind them of themselves.
The English rock legends believe the 'Little Things' hitmakers - who recently announced their decision to take an extended hiatus after five years of unstoppable pop success - may be following in their footsteps as the group's current career struggles appear to resemble the ones they faced 30 years ago.
Singer Simon Le Bon, 56, told The Daily Star newspaper: "I see a lot of us in One Direction.
"Duran were one of the first bands where everybody knew each member since The Beatles. Then you have the 1D member who is smoking dope in the back of a car, one member who leaves to live a so-called 'normal life'. It's a rerun of things that we did."
The four-piece - consisting of Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - announced they were separating for at least a year to work on solo projects.
The decision came several weeks after their former bandmate Zayn Malik announced his shock departure from the group, which was formed five years ago on 'The X Factor', in March.
Meanwhile, Duran Duran - who have never disbanded but have had a new line-up numerous times - believe their own success would be the same had they emerged today.
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes, 53, explained: "We are by nature survivors, that is patently obvious by the fact that we are here 35 years later. I think we would have fared very well in today's world."
Duran Duran - consisting of Simon, Nick, John Taylor and Roger Taylor - will kick off their UK arena tour in November and their new album 'Paper Gods' is out today (11.09.15).

Libertines cancel gig after Pete Doherty ‘goes missing’

The Libertines were forced to postpone their gig at the last minute in London last night (10.09.15) after Pete Doherty went missing.
The indie rock band left fans waiting for three hours at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, before announcing the show will be rescheduled due to a "medical emergency".
A spokesman told the crowd, who began to throw plastic cups at the stage, that the show will be rearranged for a later date.
He said: "Due to an emergency - a medical situation - tonight's show is being postponed. I say postponed because I mean postponed, not cancelled."
Rumours later began to swirl online that lead singer Pete, who is known for his drug abuse, had failed to turn up to the show and had locked himself in a Wetherspoon's toilet.
One person wrote on Twitter: "If Pete Doherty actually turns out to be locked in a Wetherspoons toilet the humour will kill me."
Another added: "Libertines have lost Pete Doherty how do you lose a person."
Before another said: "Pete Doherty is just on a mad bender."
Pete's rumoured disappearance came on the same day the band were set to release their album 'Anthem For Doomed Youth', their first in just over a decade.
The four-piece have also decided to postpone their show at The Ritz in Manchester, which was initially scheduled to take place tonight (11.09.15).
The band - consisting of Pete, Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell - later took to their official Facebook page to apologise for the cancellations.
The statement read: "Peter, Carl, John and Gary apologise whole heartedly to their fans and will reschedule both shows as soon as possible."

Charli XCX is penning songs for Rihanna’s late-coming LP

Charli XCX has penned songs for Rihanna's delayed album.
The 'Boom Clap' hitmaker is helping out the 'Four Five Seconds' singer who is struggling to get her eighth album out through a lack of good quality material and the British star was more than happy to help out her "favourite pop girl" with her LP.
She revealed: "I'm a really big Rihanna fan and I think she's such an incredible artist. She's my favourite pop girl. She's the real deal. I've actually been to a couple of writing sessions for Rihanna's new record. It was really fun to put together a couple of tracks."
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old brunette beauty also shared that Hilton Hotel's heiress Paris Hilton inspired for her own album, the follow-up to 2014's 'Sucker' and she thinks her one-hit-wonder 'Stars Are Blind' is "pop genius".
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It's definitely the most electronic pop sound I've done. I've been really inspired by Paris Hilton, small dogs and a glitter, luxe lifestyle.
"I've never met Paris before, but we were both at the amFAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival this year.
"I was performing and I saw her singing along to my song and I freaked out.
"I'm such a fan and one of my favourite songs ever is Stars Are Blind - it's pop genius."

Charli XCX showered with tampons at London show

Charli XCX had tampons thrown at her while performing in London on Thursday (10.09.15).
The Boom Clap hitmaker was showered with several of the feminine hygiene products during her hour-long set but seemed thrilled to receive the absorbent items, waving them around and putting one down her shorts.
The 23-year-old star previously revealed she wished to launch her own range but was stopped from doing so because of health and safety issues.
She explained: "I really wanted to make tampon merch. That was a dream of mine for a really long time - to have tampons that say 'Sucker' on the side and 'Pussy Power' on the box. But it's a health issue if someone's going to put it in their vagina."
But the odd incident didn't overshadow the rest of the concert at Red Bull Studios Future Underground which saw her play several tracks from her 2015 album 'Sucker' including fan favourites 'Boom Clap' and 'Break the Rules'.
Dressed in tiny gym shorts and a red cropped T-shirt, Charli writhed around the stage while simulating oral sex and encouraging audience members to lift their middle fingers in the air for the title track from her recent record.
However, the show was one of the final opportunities to see her before she retreats to the studio to work on her next record as well as tracks for other artists, having recently penned songs for Selena Gomez and Rihanna.
She told the crowd: "This is going to be my last headline show here in the UK this year."
