Queen sick of Bohemian Rhapsody

Queen think 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is an "albatross".
The group are tired of hearing their most famous song played everywhere and overshadowing the rest of their back catalogue, though they acknowledge it took their success to another level.
Discussing receiving the Classic Single prize at the recent Q Awards, drummer Roger Taylor said: "I am [sick of hearing it].When the video came on the screens I thought, 'Oh Christ, don't let the audience sit through the whole thing.'
"They've all seen it. Certainly I've seen it a thousand times.
"It's like a bit of wallpaper. We did a lot of other records as well. It's an albatross.
"But it was a good song. It put us on another level and enabled is to keep making lots of records."
And Roger believes 'Bohemian Rhapsody' could have been surpassed by 'Under Pressure' if it had been recorded better.
He told Q magazine: "I thought 'Under Pressure' was one of our better songs - although not one of our best recordings.
"I think if we had recorded it more beautifully it would have been greater than it turned out."

New Order’s comeback fight

New Order felt they had to "fight" to prove themselves after their rebirth.
The 'True Faith' hitmakers - consisting of Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, Gillian Gilbert, Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman - felt they had to go out of their way to pull off a good record after they bounced back on the scene with their new album 'Music Complete' following the departure of bandmate Peter Hook in 2007.
Drummer Stephen said: "Even though you didn't feel like you had something to prove, you felt like you ought to try harder to make a great record. Not that you go out of your way to make a s**t record...
"And this one was more interesting than most because you're doing something new, and when it's novel and fun you come up with something better than when it turns to drudge."
The group treated the rebirth as a new beginning but felt the newly-released collection proved their completion.
Stephen explained to Mojo magazine: "It kind of is like starting again, but then a bit of me thinks, 'you're a bit old to be starting again.' Did we just strike lucky? And, shouldn't you stop when you're on top? I don't think there'd be much point in doing another one the same as this one, though."
Gillian added: "I think we are a new entity in a way, the past is gone a bit. We decided to call it 'Music Complete' because that's what it was, we just thought, that's our music. Complete."

Will Smith is making music but won’t release new album

Will Smith is busily making new music - but won't be releasing an album.
The 47-year-old rapper - who has three children Trey, 22, Jaden, 17, and Willow, 14, from two different marriages - has revealed he's been making new tracks, but thinks the distribution of music through albums is outdated.
Will shared: "I have a bunch of songs. I don't know if I'll do an album. I'm looking for a really clever and creative way to release the music.
"I've been watching my kids, and they don't do albums any more. Just the way that people consume music is really different than (to) go out and buy 12 songs, 14 songs, and listen all the way through in one sitting. It's much more ADHD - unless you're Adele."
However, the handsome star has no plans to slow down and he's looking forward to performing in front of a live audience when he goes on a world tour with his old pal Jazzy Jeff next year.
He told Billboard: "I'm just getting to the point that there are things I love to do and I just want to go and I want to do it. There's nothing that compares to being onstage with a hit record.
"Those first couple of seconds when people recognise the song and it's the one they've been waiting for, there's nothing in entertainment that matches that feeling. So I'm really looking forward to getting out there this summer and performing."

Kanye West: Jay Z told me off for attending McQueen show

Kanye West was blasted by Jay Z for ditching him to watch Alexander McQueen's fashion show in Paris.
The 'FourFiveSeconds' rapper was on a tight deadline to finish his 'Watch the Throne' album with the Jay, but also desperately wanted to see the British designer's collection in Europe, so he flew off without permission.
Recalling the time he angered the rap legend, Kanye revealed: "I was at that McQueen show that he dedicated to his muse that had the wings and everything. I snuck in because they wouldn't let me in because I was a celebrity. And he was kind of disappointed when he saw me, he was like, 'I thought I said no celebrities and s**t.'
"And I remember Jay Z text me and said 'Get off the runway', you know it's kind of rude and stuff because we had an album to finish.
"So I was like, 'I'm not leaving' so we brought all the n****s to Paris and made a song about it."
The 38-year-old hip-hop star has been working on his seventh studio record, titled 'Swish', for over two years and plans to release it any day now.
However, Kanye claimed he hasn't chosen fashion over music, and the two pursuits inspire each other.
Speaking from the Shoe of The Year Awards, where he accepted a gong for his Yeezy collection, he continued: "People would always say, why do you love fashion so much why don't you love music. And I'm likes, so many of my songs came from the pursuit of another creative art form."

Chris Martin feels like Noel Gallagher’s ‘little brother’

Coldplay star Chris Martin feels like Noel Gallagher's "little brother" who likes "ballet".
The 38-year-old frontman is close pals with the former Oasis guitarist and admits he thinks of the 'Wonderwall' hitmaker - who has a famously tempestuous relationship with his actual younger brother Liam Gallagher - as a sibling
Speaking of his "love" for the 48-year-old rocker - who features on song 'Up&Up' on Coldplay's new album 'A Head Full of Dreams' - Chris said: "I love Noel. I'm like his little brother who likes ballet. We've been blessed over the years to have mentors within music."
As well as Noel, Chris credits Jay Z and U2 frontman Bono to be with being big influences on him.
He added: "We've been blessed over the years to have mentors in music. I would count Noel, Jay Z and Bono."
As well as Noel, Beyoncé - Jay Z's wife - and Chris' ex-spouse also feature on 'A Head Full of Dreams'.
But the 'Sky Full of Stars' hitmaker - who is joined in Coldplay with Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion - was particularly thrilled he got to work with one of his other musical idols, Merry Clayton, on the record.
The soul singer - who famously duetted with Sir Mick Jagger on the Rolling Stones hit 'Gimme Shelter' - added vocals for 'Up&Up' and 'Adventure of A Lifetime' on the new record, just weeks after being in a car crash that resulted in both her legs needing to be amputated at the knee.
He told The Sun newspaper: "It had been a dream to work with her so we just called her up.
"She came in a wheelchair and did her thing and then said, 'I just lost my legs.' We didn't know. She'd just come out of hospital the week before but was so full of joy, gratitude, love and life."

Red Hot Chili Peppers headline Reading and Leeds 2016

Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline Reading and Leeds Festival in August 2016.
The 'Under The Bridge' hitmakers will make a UK exclusive live return to the festival they consider the best to play in Britain.
When considering which British festival they would like to perform at next year, drummer Chad Smith revealed the band's answer was: "The simultaneous answer was Reading and Leeds."
Announcing the confirmation of Red Hot Chili Peppers - fronted by Anthony Kiedis - festival booker Melvin Benn said: "I'm thrilled to be able to announce Red Hot Chili Peppers as the first headliner for Reading & Leeds 2016, as a festival exclusive. Their incredible live show will be an unforgettable headline performance at the UK's biggest music festival. We've still got some really exciting names to announce and I can't wait to reveal the rest of the line up. It's going to be our best year yet."
Other bands to be announced are The 1975, who will perform songs from their much-lauded sophomore record 'I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It', which will be released prior to the festival in February 2016 .
Manchester band The Courteeners and rock outfit Twenty One Pilots will bring their exceptional live shows to Reading and Leeds, along with Mercury Prize-nominated punk-duo Slaves who promise to take their performance up a notch.
Slaves - Laurie Vincent and Isaac Holman - commented:
"It's always a pleasure to play at Reading and Leeds and it's an honour to be invited back to play again in 2016. The crowds have been good to us and we are always very grateful. The line up is always a gooden and we're looking forward to being part of it and taking things up another level this time. See you there xxx (sic)"
And RAT BOY - who are nominated for MTV's Brand New 2016 - will return to Reading & Leads.
The duo said: "It's gonna be lit!"
Elsewhere, bringing some heavy metal to the predominantly indie/pop event, Japanese metallers Crossfaith will bring their ferocious noise machine with them
Crossfaith said: "It is an absolute honour to be invited to legendary rock festival 'Reading & Leeds' three years in a row. We are always feeling your big love for us! Can't wait to party and rock with you guys! See you in da pit! Let's make history!"
Reading and Leeds returns on the weekend of August 26 and August 28, 2016.

One Direction up for Worst Band prize at NME Awards

One Direction have been nominated for the Worst Band prize at the NME Awards.
The 'Steal My Girl' hitmakers - Niall Horan, Louis Tomilinson, Harry Styles and Liam Payne - are up for the unwanted 'honour' along with Sleaford Mods, U2, Nickelback and 5SOS at the magazine's annual ceremony next year.
The boys are also dubiously up for the Music Moment of the Year due to their decision to go on hiatus.
Other incidents listed include Adele's record-breaking return, The Libertines' secret Glastonbury set, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl breaking his leg on stage, Florence + the Machine headlining Glastonbury in Foo Fighters' place and Kanye West's performance at the BRIT Awards.
Elsewhere, Kanye is also nominated for both NME's Hero and Villain titles.
Away from the unwanted prizes, The Libertines and Wolf Alice lead the way with six nominations each
Both bands will go head-to-head for some of the biggest awards of the night, including Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Track, Best Music Video and Best Fan Community.
Mike Williams, editor-in-chief of NME, said: "The NME audience has voted in its thousands, and once again have pulled together an exciting, diverse and in some places pretty surprising shortlist for the 2016 Awards.
"Will The Libertines crown their beautiful comeback with a couple of wins? Will Kanye be the hero and villain of the year? Can anyone stop the Adele juggernaut from pulverising everything in its path?
"All will be revealed once the people have had their final say. I'm really excited and can't wait for the big night."
The magazine's awards first started in 1953, one year after the launch of NME and has seen the likes of The Beatles, Blondie, Noel Gallagher and The Who perform at it.

Dave Navarro leads Scott Weiland tributes

Dave Navarro has led tributes to the late Scott Weiland.
The Jane's Addiction guitarist posted a tribute to the Stone Temple Pilots frontman after it emerged he died in his sleep last night (03.12.15) aged 48.
He wrote on Twitter: "Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight."
It is not yet known what caused Scott's death but a statement on his Instagram page says he died in his sleep.
It reads: "Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott's family be respected."
Several other names from the world of music have also paid tribute to the former Velvet Revolver frontman, who leaves behind two kids, Noah, 15, and Lucy, 13, and his wife Jamie Wachtel.
Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx tweeted: "Sad to hear about Scott's passing.I hope it wasn't drugs. The saddest part of the story is his kids and family being left behind. RIP (sic)"
Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic wrote: "Really sorry to hear about Scott Weiland."
Blink 182's Travis Barker tweeted: "Very sad news, rest in peace #ScottWeiland #toosoon (sic)"
Vanilla Ice posted: "Tell me it's not true - Scott Weiland found dead... Stone Temple pilots (sic)"
Ryan Adams tweeted a link to Stone Temple Pilots song 'Sour Girl' and added the caption: " RIP Scott Weiland
"Universe, please take care of him (sic)"
Early reports suggested Scott - who has two kids, Noah, 15, and Lucy, 13 - was found dead on his tour bus last night while touring with his group Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts.
According to TMZ, the rockers were due to perform at the Medina Ballroom in Minnesota last night but the show was cancelled.

Busted head off to LA to write album

Busted are heading to Los Angeles to write their comeback hit.
The 'Year 3000' hitmakers - consisting of Matt Willis, James Bourne and Charlie Simpson - announced they're going on next Spring but before then, they'll be in the states penning tracks for the 2016 album and at least one "new song" that will be released soon and will kick off the tour with a bang.
Charlie - who rejoined the group 10 years after quitting - exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "The new music is going to be really good I think. We're going to LA in a couple of weeks to start recording and so we should have a new song out before the tour, and I'm excited about that."
Matt thinks their time apart has broadened their individual music tastes but he's looking forward to returning to their familiar "fun" style of music.
Speaking from the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Awards at London's One Mayfair,on Wednesday (02.12.15), he added: "The good thing about time, I think when you're younger your music tastes kind of define you, in a way, for a lot of us, and what you're into defines you. You have time you just listen to everything and take everything in and that's where we are right now. We're just making it cool, fun pop music."
And the tour will be just as "high-energy".
Charlie said: "We're enjoying life. It's a good place to be. We want it (tour) to be a fun show, a high energy show. It's going to be a fun day that, when we go in and start talking about the creatives of the show because you can literally do anything."
