Bruce Springsteen working on solo LP

Bruce Springsteen is working on a solo album without his E Street Band.
The 66-year-old rocker has hinted that his new record will mean he won't be taking his infamous backing group on the road with him.
He said: "The project I've been working on is more of a solo project. It wasn't a project I was going to probably take the band out on. So I said, 'Gee, that's going to push the band playing again until way in the future.' It'll be nice to get some playing in so you don't wind up being two or three years between E Street tours. This will give us a chance to get out there and stretch our muscles a little bit."
The 'Born in the U.S.A' hitmaker's last solo effort, without the E Street Band, was 2005's 'Devils & Dust', which debuted at number one in the US Billboard Chart 200.
Meanwhile the guitar god also revealed he hadn't originally planned a full tour for his 'The River Tour' that is now a staggering 24 dates.
Explaining how it came about, he told radio station SiriusXM: "We made the box set and there was no plan to tour, then we felt, 'Maybe we should do a show just to raise the flag and have some fun and make it a little more exciting.' I said. 'Okay, maybe we'll do a show in New York.' Then that went quick to, 'Maybe we should do a couple of shows.' Then it turns into, 'Maybe we should do a small series of shows, basically one-nighters, with maybe a little bit around the country."
Springsteen's North American 'The River Tour' kicks off in Pittsburgh on January 16 and ends in Los Angeles on March 17.

Chris Martin: Rock is done

Chris Martin thinks rock music has run its course.
The Coldplay frontman doesn't feel his band's seventh studio LP 'A Head Full of Dreams' fits the rock genre very easily as there are much more layers to the pop record and he doesn't think hardcore rock fans will ever be crazy about his music.
He explained: "We felt like rock music has been done. The future of music is in new sounds and new ways of treating vocals. We wanted to add these colours to our palette.
"No one would ever put us in a list of top 10 rock bands. We've maybe rocked out once, for 10 minutes.
"I don't think anyone would throw up the devil horns to any of our major works."
And his bandmate and bass player Guy Berryman agrees with Chris and feels like there is no future for the genre because it's all been done before.
Guy, 37, added: "There's an awful lot of rock music already out there. I'm not sure there is anything left to add."
Elsewhere, the 'Yellow' hitmaker, 38, admitted he still gets struck by stage fright.
He told The Daily Telegraph newspaper: "There is definitely a suspension of normality.
"The part of your personality you access to do a big concert is not the same part that's just walking down the street every day.
"You have to believe, 'This is my job, we are awesome.' And a couple of things can go wrong and freak you out, then you suddenly think, 'Oh s**t, I'm just a boy from Devon, who the hell do I think I am?"

The Weeknd sued for The Hills sample

The Weeknd has been sued for copyright infringement for using a sample on his smash hit 'The Hills'.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, singer Abel Tesfaye has been hit with the lawsuit by a UK film tycoon who claims the 25-year-old star knowingly sampled a score from 2013 sci-fi thriller 'The Machine'.
The court case includes a rare form of evidence in the form of an alleged direct message sent by the song's producer and co-defendant Emmanuel 'Mano' Nickerson to the film's scorer Tom Raybould.
The Twitter message read: "On or about March 9, 2015, Defendant MANO sent Raybould a Twitter direct message stating 'I sampled your music might make it 2 the weeknd next album. Huge fan of what u did 4 the machine movie! (sic)"
The documents were filed at a federal court in California on Wednesday (09.12.15) by Cutting Edge Music Limited who are suing the Canadian star and the producers of the track along with major record labels Universal, Warner Chappell and Sony/ATV.
The court papers obtained also include claims of alleged substantial similarity.
The complaint available publicly on www.scribd.com, reads: "Both the Infringing Song and the Track featuring synthesizer bass-lines performed with almost identical idiosyncratic sounds at the same register and using the same pitch sequence, melodic phase structure and rhythmic durations (sic)."
'The Hills', which was released in May, is one of the most successful tracks of the year, a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts and featuring in the top 10 in charts worldwide, including UK, New Zealand and Australia.
The Weeknd also has seven Grammy nominations for his album 'Beauty Behind The Madness', which the track features on.

Robert Plant records Elbow cover for refugee charity

Robert Plant has recorded a cover of Elbow's 'The Blanket Of Night' in a bid to help the Syrian refugee crisis.
The Led Zeppelin legend teamed up with the British Red Cross charity for the track which he has made for a forthcoming charity concept album titled 'The Long Road', which is produced by Ethan Johns, best-known for his work with songstress Laura Marling and indie rockers The Vaccines.
The song tells the tale of refugees attempting a treacherous journey to seek asylum in the UK.
Talking about the humanitarian issue which has swept across Europe this year due to the war in Syria, Plant said: "We have a worldwide international catastrophe - talking about it is one thing, doing something about it is another. The position we are in, it's paramount we all do our best one way or another to help."
And Grammy Award-winning group Tinariwen have also created an original track for the compilation called 'Silence', which is inspired by the band's founder Ibrahim Ag Alhabib, who fled Mali in West Africa after his father was executed in 1963.
Robert, 67, and Tinariwen join previously announced acts, spoken word poet Scroobius Pip, singer/songwriter Kindness and the Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars.
Many of the songs are inspired by the true story of refugees who have been helped by the British Red Cross.
Syrian refugee Ayman Hirh, who fled Syria in 2012 inspired Kindness's track.
He commented: "I hope that my experience and the album will encourage people to think about the reasons people like me are forced to leave home."
The record will be released on 4 March 2016 and is available to pre-order now.
Visit www.thelongroad.uk for more information about the project.

Lana Del Rey wanted to record Bond tune

Lana Del Rey wanted to record the theme song for the new James Bond film 'Spectre.'
The 'Video Games' hitmaker, 30, would have jumped at the chance to perform the 007 soundtrack if she had been asked, but she has admitted she was never approached.
She explained: "I would've done it if I was asked but I wasn't asked. I love all of the Bond music that's been put out over the years and I love soundtracks in general."
And, although the opportunity was swiped away from Lana by Sam Smith and his 'Writing's on the Wall', the brunette beauty believes her latest album 'Honeymoon', which was dropped three months ago, would have been very fitting.
She told NME magazine: "There are a couple of songs on this record that have a Bond feel, like '24' and 'Swan Song.' "
Meanwhile, she may not have been able to fulfil her Bond dreams but Lana has still had a good year as she spent the warmer months on the road with Courtney Love for her concert series, 'The Endless Summer Tour.'
She said: "Touring with Courtney was great, we have some things in common that might not be visible from the outside.
"I think the most important thing I learned was that some people just have it when it comes to performing. She's totally entrancing, a born performer."

Martin Solveig: Madonna is very fun in the studio

Martin Solveig loves how Madonna just uses her "instinct" in the studio.
The 39-year-old electro DJ worked with the Queen of Pop on their 2014 track 'Intoxicated' and said he learnt a lot from the way the pop megastar worked on her own accord in such a "relaxed" way.
Talking about his time spent with the 'Like a Prayer' hitmaker, he told BANG Showbiz: "I recommend to everyone to spend some time in the studio with Madonna because it's always going to be a very fun time, and of course she is someone extremely talented and when you are a creative person you always learn so much from a talented person like that, so I learnt a lot from her.
"She works a lot with instinct, the way she lets her musical instinct takeover and not think about what she should do or she should not do and just let it come from within and that was very impressive, how relaxed she is to let the instinct rule."
Martin recently dropped his new single '+1' and has revealed the track was inspired by a girl he tried to ask out by using the line "Can I be your plus one?".
He explained: "I was sitting at a table with a beautiful girl and at some point I said, 'Can I be your plus one?' She said, 'No', but I said that's a good line still, so I am just going to keep it. I thought it was a funny way to put the 1+1 relationship, and it is very multi-genre, it's fun and it has a club appeal."
