One Direction’s career crisis?

One Direction's extended hiatus looks set to lose them their title as the most popular pop band in the world.
The 'Little Things' hitmaker's decision to go their separate ways appears to have forced fans to seek music solace elsewhere as new statistics have revealed people aged between 18 to 24 would rather support Fleetwood Mac.
According to StubHub, which surveyed 2,000 Brits, 33 per cent claimed they were fans of the British-American rock band, whereas just 10 per cent liked One Direction.
Nick Harford, Interim General Manager at StubHub International said: "It's great to see that as well as producing some of the biggest musicians in the world, the UK also has some of the most passionate and loyal music fans.
"It's also interesting to see that long-time rockers Fleetwood Mac are still topping the fandom bill, over the more recent chart toppers One Direction."
Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran is proving a big hit with the ladies as 38 per cent of UK women would prefer to see the 24-year-old singer in concert and sing along to his tracks.
Taylor Swift has walked away with the most popular female act title after being voted as the favourite by 20 per cent of British men, while Rihanna followed closely behind with 16 per cent. Beyonce, however, slumped into third place with just 12 per cent.

Stereophonics wouldn’t do Smiths cover because they eat too much meat

The Stereophonics' Kelly Jones has admitted they would never do a Smith's cover because they "eat too much meat."
The 41-year-old frontman has ruled out doing a rendition of one of the vegetarian rock band's songs because they quite often tuck into animal flesh while performing on stage and he thinks former lead singer Morrissey, who has compared eating meat to paedophilia in the past, wouldn't "like it."
Asked whether the band would do a Smith's cover, Kelly told Chris Moyles on Radio X: "We eat too much meat. We got meat on stage, we can't do it, he won't like it."
Pushed on whether he thought performing a Smith's song with his band would be really "sacrilegious", Kelly revealed a time when he and his band mates - consisting of Richard Jones, Adam Zindani, Jamie Morrison and touring member Tony Kirkham - strapped meat to a vegetarian lighting engineer while he was sleeping in his bunk bed.
He explained: "We had a vegetarian lighting engineer once and we gaffer tapped him to his bunk with Parma ham and sausages and he couldn't get out."
Meanwhile, the Stereophonics' new album 'Keep The Village Alive' went straight into the number one hot spot in the UK charts following the release earlier this month.

Disclosure: Sam Smith is our favourite person to write with

Disclosure has revealed Sam Smith is their "favourite person to write with in the world."
The electronic musical duo - made up of brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence - have admitted pulling the 'Lay Me Down' hitmaker onto their new single 'Omen' was a no-brainer because they admire his talent in the studio and see him as a great friend.
The trio previously worked on the single 'Latch' on Disclosure's debut 'Settle'.
Speaking to BBC, the siblings said of their choice: "To be honest, Sam is the only person from the last record that we thought we might use on this one again, purely because he's such a good friend of ours.
"It would feel like a waste to not get him on board. We work with him all the time anyway and I'd say he's probably our favourite person to write with in the world."
They added: "We got in the room for a catch-up, more than anything, and ended up writing about five songs."
Disclosure's new album 'Caracal', which features 'Omen' as the lead single, is set for release later this week and there's certainly no stopping the boys now as their schedules are filling up with performances, tours and appearances.
They explained: "We're doing a big American tour including Madison Square Garden. When we were growing up we used to watch a video of Led Zeppelin playing Madison Square Garden with our dad every weekend. After that we go on a world tour...all over again!"
'Caracal' will be released on September 25.

Carrie Underwood’s new LP has some ‘R+B flair’

Carrie Underwood says her new album has a bit of "R&B flair".
The 32-year-old country superstar will release her fifth studio LP 'Storyteller' on October 23 and as well as containing lots of songs that are true to her musical roots she has revealed there are also some songs on which she tries out new genres.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at an exclusive show at The Edition Hotel in London - at which she performed her latest single 'Smoke Break' - on Tuesday night (22.09.15), Carrie said: "My album will be out in late October, hopefully it will do well, especially in the UK. I'm excited to have new stuff to play.
"I want people to give it a chance. Everybody is influenced by everybody else, so there's some rock in there, some R&B flair in there, some traditional country stuff. It's really good."
The 2005 'American Idol' winner has been in the UK to perform at the Apple Music Festival but although she would love to go sight-seeing in London she just hasn't had time because she needs to get back home to the US to her husband Mike Fisher and their six-month-old son Isaiah.
She said: "I love London, I would have liked to have stayed longer but I left my baby at home, so I've just wanted to do as much as I can in a short space of time. If I go to I'm touristy areas I do get recognised because there's always Americans there! But I've done the whole double decker bus thing."
Carrie has also announced three headline performances at Country to Country 2016.
Having performed at the inaugural event in 2013, Carrie will return to play all three nights of the festival with C2C being held at The O2 in London, the Dublin 3 Arena and for the first year at Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium, the first time the festival has run for three nights.

Naughty Boy working with Janet Jackson

Naughty Boy is helping Janet Jackson with her pop comeback.
The 'La La La' hitmaker - who has produced songs for Sam Smith and Emeli Sandé among other artists - is to remix Janet and Missy Elliot's track, believed to be called 'BURNITUP!', for the UK chart and it will be released ahead of her new album 'Unbreakable'.
Naughty Boy - real name Shahid Khan - told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I'm about to start work on a track with Janet featuring Missy Elliott. It's set to be another massive collaboration. It's very exciting times for the both of them.
"I'm going to be remixing the track for the UK and I look forward to meeting up with Janet soon."
Last week, Naughty Boy unveiled his latest single 'Runnin' (Lose It All)'
which features Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin and he is very happy with the response to the track so far.
The producer has become friends with Beyoncé since they worked together and says they regularly text one another.
He said: "I'm really happy with the outcome of the track with Beyoncé. She's a lovely person and we text each other all of the time."
Janet's 'Unbreakable' album is due out on October and is her first studio release since 2008's 'Discipline'.

Nick Jonas ‘not sure’ about collaborating with brother Joe

Nick Jonas is "not sure" if he will collaborate with his brother Joe's new band DNCE.
The 'Levels' hitmaker - who found fame in The Jonas Brothers with siblings Kevin and Joe - doesn't appear too keen on the idea of a mini reunion with his sibling because he thinks it's "important" for them to spend time apart to be "excited" for their individual projects.
Asked if he sees them joining forces musically in the future, he told Entertainment Weekly: "As far as collaborations, I'm not sure. It's important for both of us to support each other and be excited for each other, but give each other that space as well to do our own thing. We're both conscious of that. We want [to] win together, even if it's doing different projects."
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old singer revealed details of his sophomore record and that he thinks lead single 'Levels' is a "good introduction" to the sound of the album, which he has been "digging deep" into different influences for.
He said: "Levels' is a good introduction to the next step. I think [the album will] go even a bit further with some more soul and R&B sounds, even hip hop influences in there. I'm really just digging deep."
And on when to expect his LP he hinted that it could be released early next year.
He added: "We have not picked a date officially yet, but we have a sense. It's going to be at some point early next year, so probably the end of February or early March."

Harry Styles ‘distracted’ watching sister’s date

Harry Styles was "distracted" keeping an eye on his sister's date at the Apple Music Festival.
The 21-year-old star joked he was busy watching his older sibling Gemma's new man as One Direction took to the stage at the The Roundhouse in London last night (22.09.15).
He said: "Sorry if I seem a little distracted. My sister is on a date. They're up there somewhere ... behave yourself.
Meanwhile, the group also joked they were "dropping like flies" when Niall Horan disappeared from the stage. His disappearance prompted the other three members - Harry, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - to jest about losing a second band member following Zayn Malik's departure earlier this year.
When they noticed he'd disappeared, Harry said: "We've lost another one! We're dropping like flies!"
Whilst Louis added: "We're like Take That."
Niall made his return and the 'Night Changes' hitmakers carried on with their electric set, exciting the crowd with fan favourites including 'What Makes You Beautiful' and 'Little Things' as well as their newer offerings, 'Drag Me Down' and 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go'.
And it wasn't just their young fans who enjoyed the show - Selena Gomez, Suki Waterhouse, Bella Hadid and Stella McCartney were also in attendance.
Niall later apologised for his disappearing act, admitting the heat was making him feel ill.
He told the crowd: "Sorry about that earlier - the heat seems to be getting me and I didn't feel very well. So God knows how you all feel down there [on the floor] ...
"But thank you so much for having us - we've had a cracking time."
The chart-topping boy band rounded off their set with a rendition of 'Best Song Ever,' giving the 2000-strong audience a great end to a memorable evening.

Take That making new music

Take That are recording new music.
The band - which comprises of founding members Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald - are working hard in the studio on four new tracks for their upcoming album that is set to include hits from their 25-year-run.
However, 'Shine' crooner Mark Owen insisted it won't be a "Greatest Hits" record because that would signal "the end".
Speaking backstage at the Apple Music Festival on Sunday (20.09.15) Mark told The Sun newspaper: "We have the songs to fill it, no problem.
"But a Greatest Hits signals the end, doesn't it? It's nice to work."
The trio have no plans to slow down.
They performed a number of gigs in London in recent weeks including a sell out concert at the O2 Arena for the Rugby World Cup celebration 'Wear The Rose' and a "thank you" concert for their fans at the Apple Music Festival at The Roundhouse venue on Sunday night.
'Relight My Fire', 'Rule The World' and 'Never Forget' featured across both sets and saw fans singing back every word.
Take That will release an album in 2017 to mark the 25th anniversary of the release of their first album, Take That & Party'.
