Motorhead cancel second gig due to illness

Motorhead have cancelled a second show after their lead guitarist was hospitalised.
The rockers took to their official Twitter account to reveal their gig in Hamburg, Germany, has been rescheduled after Phil Campbell was admitted to hospital.
They wrote: "Hamburg show is off today, rescheduled to December 9 at Sporthalle. See you all there. Thank you for all the well wishes for @MotorheadPhil"
It comes after the group called off their gig in the German capital, Berlin, when Phil fell ill.
They tweeted: "Our brother, Phil Campbell suddenly required hospital. He will be better soon. There is no choice other than to cancel our show in Berlin"
Earlier this month, the 'Ace of Spades' hitmakers - who are also made up of Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister and Mikkey Dee - cancelled a gig in Paris just days after the terror attacks in the French capital.
They wrote on Twitter: "Due to the serious situation in Paris we have to postpone our gig until January. We are rescheduling and will give details ASAP. #Paris"
Foo Fighters and U2 also called off gigs in the city following the atrocity.

Björk’s best music is yet to come

Björk thinks her best work is still yet to come.
The 50-year-old singer may have released her ninth studio album 'Vulnicura' earlier this year, but she has admitted she's still got loads more ideas she'd like to pursue and is keen to put a plan into action before it's too late.
She explained: "There are so many songs and so many albums I could do. I get ideas all the time, and I still feel like I haven't written my best song yet and time is running out. I wish there were five of me so I could get these things done."
However, the 'Black Lake' hitmaker feels she can only create work she's truly proud of when she's away from the spotlight.
Speaking to the Telegraph newspaper's Style magazine, she said: "I'm just crocheting my own path, so it doesn't matter much if I', 35 or 65. It's on of the advantages of not fitting in. I came to London in 1993 and, by some chance, I became this A-list celebrity for a couple of years - until I said, 'Thank you very much,' and left. Some people can continue to write music in that spotlight, but I knew I couldn't. I could either be a full-time celebrity or make music. So maybe I made the choice there. Turning 50 isn't so different."

Jake Bugg’s Smooth influence

Jake Bugg's new album is influenced by Smooth radio.
The 'Two Fingers' hitmaker has been enjoying the easy-listening sounds of the classic tracks played on the station and admires the "warmth" of the songs.
He said: "I've been listening to Smooth Radio.
"Those songs from the '70s, there was a warmth about them that you just don't get in pop nowadays."
The "diverse" record also features elements of "cool hip-hop".
Jake said: "My makes back in Clifton listen to grime and hip-hop, but if I can take some cool hip-hop elements but mix them with guitar as well, then I feel like it's still me.
"I think this album is very diverse, every track is different, but hopefully there's still enough to please the old fans as well."
The 21-year-old singer has been working hard on the as-yet untitled album all year and is planning a tour in 2016, but hoping to get some time off before going on the road.
He told Q magazine: "It might look to the world like I've been away for a year, but I've been working on this record solid every year.
"I've still not even had a proper holiday. So I quite fancy Hawaii - if I can get the time off."

Nick Rhodes: Duran Duran are a better band now

Nick Rhodes thinks Duran Duran is a "better band" now.
The 'Pressure Off' hitmakers - consisting also of Simon Le Bon, John Taylor and Roger Taylor - invented their own fandom known as Duranmania in the 80s, but believe they are on top of their game now.
Keyboard player Nick said: "We are without a doubt a better band, both in the studio and on the stage.
"It's unfair to say the shows weren't super-exciting and important in the past but it certainly was a little crazier than it is now and technology changes so much. Now we all have in-ear monitors, which makes a world of difference."
Frontman Simon added: "I'd say we were good and we were exciting but the range wasn't there. It's been a great year for us and a lot of that is because we are a good live band."
But one thing that they've always been good at is performing live because they are not phased by other performers.
Simon told The Sun newspaper: "We're not intimidated by other acts and when we walk on stage people come running, because if there is one word out there, it's that we are good live. That's what happens when you do something for a long time. It's a simple equation."

Chris Martin’s pop worry

Chris Martin worried the rest of Coldplay would think his new songs were "too pop".
The 38-year-old frontman brought in Mikkel Storleer Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen aka production duo Stargate - who have previously worked with Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga - for new record 'A Head Full of Dreams' and was unsure what his bandmates would think of the test sessions.
He said: "I was nervous about Guy [Berryman] and Will [Champion] saying this is too pop. But they got along so well with Tor and Mikkel. It's marrying these two worlds, often in two different rooms."
The album is their seventh and Chris believes it makes the end of the first chapter of their career.
He said: "If you think about the journey of Leo Messi from playing in the playground to putting his boots on before the Champions League final, that's where we are."
Coldplay's last album, the introspective 'Ghost Stories', was released just two months after Chris and wife Gwyneth Paltrow announced their separation and his bandmates felt very "protective" of him.
Guitarist Jonny Buckland told Q magazine: "There were times when we felt very protective of Chris."
Will added: "He put a lot of himself into those songs. I don't envy him being the frontman."

Coldplay get chimp doppelgangers for Adventure Of A Lifetime video

Coldplay have unveiled an animated video for their new single 'Adventure Of A Lifetime' that features chimpanzee doppelgangers.
Frontman Chris Martin came up with the visuals for the video - directed by Mat Whitecross - with actor and motion capture expert Andy Serkis, who has previously played a chimp himself, starring as Caesar in 'Rise of the Apes'.
The creative pair met on a flight one day and aligned their busy schedules to work on their ideas.
And they ended up producing a cut within six months with the help of animators Mathematic and motion capture experts Imaginarium, who transformed the four musicians - Chris, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion - into 3D apes.
Meanwhile, the 'Paradise' hitmakers have unveiled another track from their upcoming LP 'A Head Full of Dreams' titled 'Everglow', which features Chris' ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow's vocals.
And Chris, 38, explained the track is about the feeling of "everglow" you are overcome with when a relationship or friendship ends.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio, he explained: "I was in the ocean one day with this surfer guy, who spoke just like you'd imagine a surfer guy to speak ... He was like, 'Yo dude, I was doing this thing the other day man, it gave me this total everglow!' I was like, 'What an amazing word!' "Then the song came completely out. To me, it's about - whether it's a loved one or a situation or a friend or a relationship that's finished, or someone's passed away - I was thinking about, after you've been through the sadness of something, you also get this everglow. That's what it's about."
The video for 'Adventure Of A Lifetime' is available exclusively on the band's Facebook page facebook.com/coldplay

Graham Coxon: I’ll take the blame for Blur’s crazy antics

Graham Coxon is happy to take the "blame" for "crazy" things his Blur bandmates have done over the years.
The 'Song 2' guitarist has addressed the indie quartets' past and current mistakes, like the time he called Kanye West a "f***ing idiot", and said he will shoulder the blame because no one else will.
Talking about the band's antics, he said: "We were all nuts we all did crazy things. But because I've stood up and said, "Yeah, I made a mess of things", I take the blame for anything that happens now, in the future or the past. Nobody else has said that they made a mess of it so it falls on me."
The particular "mess" Graham got himself into occurred when he slammed the 'All Day' rapper earlier in the year.
He said in a previous interview: "He's a f***ing idiot, isn't he? Does he even make his own albums?
"People aren't interested in learning instruments and putting effort and time into it. They want it immediately. It's McDonalds, isn't it? It's convenient. "
Elsewhere, bassist Alex James has no idea what the future holds for Blur, but he isn't worried and he finds the prospect of not knowing "quite exciting".
He told Loaded.co.uk: "F**k knows what happens next, but that seems to be our default setting. For a moment I knew what was happening with Blur - there was some shows. But now I'm back to not knowing what's going to happen next, and that's quite exciting."

Jack Garratt wins BRITs Critics’ Choice Award

Jack Garratt has won with the BRITs 2016 Critics' Choice Award.
The 22-year-old singer beat off stiff competition from Izzy Bizu and piano maestro Frances among other names to be selected for the honour.
Upon discovering he was receiving the prize, he said: "I am so humbled to have received this year's BRITs Critics' Choice Award. To have been nominated alongside Frances and Izzy Bizu was already a huge honour and a testament to the calibre of new UK music. To have been given this award is truly mind-blowing, considering I am one name in a hugely exciting time for music in this country. Thank you to everyone who voted, it means so much to me."
Previous winners include Adele, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and James Bay.
The 'Weathered' singer will be presented with the accolade at the televised 'The BRITs Are Coming!' nominations show on Thursday January 14 and he will perform on the night along with Jess Glynne and Years & Years.
Jack is gearing up to release his debut album 'Phase' on February 19, 2016 through Island Records and hot off the heels of his sell-out UK tour this autumn, he will also be supporting Mumford & Sons on their UK arena tour this month.
The BRIT Awards 2016 take place at The O2 in London and will be aired on ITV on February 24, 2016.

Noel Gallagher: Record sales will die out in a few years

Noel Gallagher believes record sales will die out by the end of the decade.
The 48-year-old rocker is stunned his 'Chasing Yesterday' LP is the best-selling vinyl release of 2015 but doesn't think the sales figures are actually very impressive because people prefer to stream music these days.
And in the next five years, the songwriter is sure the majority of people will ditch purchasing copes of albums in favour of streaming.
Noel - who has sold over 70 million albums throughout his career with Oasis and as a solo artist - said: "For the people who still want to buy and own music, for me to be sat at the top of that list really is great.
"Until you look at how many people are actually buying it and it's like a thousand albums. F***ing hell, I've probably got more than a thousand sat in my office right now. But it's the streaming thing, there will be no record sales by the end of the decade I think."
Noel himself rarely buys music any more because he finds it such a hassle going into record shops.
He explained to Q magazine: "Where do you buy records these days? I can't go to HMV. How long do you think it would take me to get out of HMV if I went in? If I go into a record store they usually turn into autograph sessions so I avoid them now.
"I think that's the way music is going now though, for me anyway, I'm more into tracks."
