Ella Eyre to record ‘at least five albums’

Ella Eyre wants to "record at least five albums".
The 21-year-old singer - whose debut album 'Feline' is set for release later this month - has admitted she wants to have a long career in both the music and acting industries.
She said: "I started out doing musical theatre at school, realising I loved to sing when I played Tallulah in 'Bugsy Malone'. I'd like to do more acting, record at least five albums, and write lots more - I want to be in the industry in 30 or 40 years time.
"I've written more than 300 songs. Some have sold in Japan and Europe, while others get big here, like 'Changing', which was a number one for Sigma and Paloma Faith."
The 'Gravity' singer also revealed she's inspired by the late Amy Winehouse - who died in 2011 - as she too wrote songs about personal experiences.
Ella told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "Amy is one of my biggest influences. Not only was her voice incredible, but also her music is so tragic and relatable. I like to write only about things that have happened to me, so her songs are an inspiration."

Emily Ratajkowski is embarrassed by Blurred Lines

Emily Ratajkowski hides when she hears Robin Thicke's track 'Blurred Lines' in bars.
The 24-year-old bikini model and actress was made famous when she starred in the music video in which she appears naked and Pharrell and Robin Thicke are fully clothed, singing "You know you want it" at her, but says it now makes her cower in embarrassment and she even mistakes it for Marvin Gaye's 'Give it Up'.
She said: "I have to say, from someone who really knows the beginning of 'Blurred Lines' when it comes on, half the time it's the Marvin Gaye song, but I've already tried to leave the place or hide, and then it's like. 'Oh it's the Marvin Gaye one, what the f**k was I stressing about? They're that similar."
The 'Gone Girl' actress wouldn't appear in the video if asked now.
She said: "I think I've done enough nudity now that I don't really need to do 'Blurred Lines' again. Like, if someone asked me to do it now, I'd probably say no."
Whilst the brunette beauty insisted she has no regrets, she confessed she didn't actually like the idea of the project - which was later accused of being "rapey" - when first approached, and also didn't care that it was Pharrell Williams who wanted her to do it.
She said: "It was so bad. I was like, there is absolutely no way they could pay me enough money.
"I didn't give a s**t. Because it's me, and it's me, so I don't care who's attached to it."
But acclaimed music director Diane Martel - who has worked with Miley Cyrus - convinced the star.
She told GQ magazine: "We just connected personally, she's smart, she's really culturally sensitive, and she talked to me about her ideas and how the women would be in the video."

Ella Eyre’s ears ended swimming career

Ella Eyre became a singer when ear infections ended her swimming dreams.
The 21-year-old star initially wanted to pursue her sporting passion when she was younger but gave it up after frequently getting ill, something which she now regards as a "blessing in disguise".
She said: "I wanted to be a swimmer when I was growing up - I trained so hard, but at 13 I had to give it up as I kept getting really bad ear infections.
"It was obviously a blessing in disguise, because I started drama and eventually moved to The Brit School."
And Ella planned to become a musical theatre actress until her vocal coach suggested she try singing full-time.
She added: "My coach introduced me to the man who is still my manager today, we worked together for a year just experimenting with different sounds, and a month after leaving The Brit School, I was signed by Virgin."
The 'Gravity' singer is stunned by how far she has come in such a short space of time.
She told Glamour magazine: "You know when people ask, 'Where do you see yourself in five years?' Well, never, not for one second, could I have imagined what might happen over just one year. To play Glastonbury and a sold-out UK tour and now being the face of a perfume [Emporio Armani's Diamonds] - it's crazy. But there's still so much to do."

Carly Rae Jepsen starstruck for ‘entire’ shoot with Tom Hanks

Carly Rae Jepsen was starstruck during her entire video shoot with Tom Hanks.
The 29-year-old singer cast the Hollywood star in the promo clip for 'I Really Like You' and struggled to stay cool because she was so excited to spend time with him.
She said: "I was on a cloud that whole shoot. Usually I'm starstruck for a minute and once I get to talk to the person and realise how human they are, it's like, OK, you're really chill.'
"With Tom Hanks, even though he made things really comfortable for the entire day, in my head I kept being like, 'It's Tom Hanks!' Oh my goodness!'
"I tried to keep it cool on the outside. I was telling my friends, 'I want to bring props from his videos like a box of chocolates and a volleyball and get him to sign everything.' And they were like, 'Please don't do that. Try to be cool.' "
Carly is good friends with Justin Bieber and enjoyed being in the audience for his recent Comedy Central roast - though she did feel guilty when she laughed at the jokes.
She told heat magazine: "I was there in the front row for the Bieber roast. That was a lot of fun - you could see he was so lighthearted about it.
"I was proud. It was funny, we were on a table with all the people from his management team, and every time there was a good joke, we were all guiltily drinking our wine and being like, 'Is it OK if we laugh?'"

Rita Ora: Calvin Harris didn’t cause album delay

Rita Ora insists Calvin Harris never caused the delay of her second album.
The 'I Will Never Let You Down' hitmaker had worked on four tracks with the Scottish DJ, but when they ended their relationship he blocked her from using them, although she insists it was just her busy schedule that kept her out of the recording studio, meaning she hadn't had time to do much work on her LP.
She said: "I have to be very clear - there was never a record.
"There were about four tracks that were building into a record but it was never like, 'OK, we're ready to go'.
"'I Will Never Let You Down' came out because I wanted to put it out there and then because that's how I felt at that point in my life.
"I wasn't thinking, 'Well what are you going to follow it up with Rita?' I was like, 'I don't care, we're putting it out.'
"So I had to finish the record and I never really got round to it because I was touring around, then I was promoting 'I Will Never...', then I started to shoot 'Southpaw' then ... personally, things didn't go to plan."
The 24-year-old star felt it best to take time out to recover from her heartbreak instead of "wasting" time and money attempting to work on the record.
She added: "I was in a moment in my life where I knew that if I walked into a recording studio, you're not gonna get the best work out of me.
"So I'm not gonna waste people's money and time to do something that I know I'm probably not gonna like when I'm in a good pace."
And Rita insists she isn't upset at losing the tracks she worked on with Calvin because she has some "greater" ones instead.
She told Glamour magazine: "They're great tunes. But it's OK, we can make greater tunes. We have made greater tunes. It's absolutely fine."

Bastille ‘don’t want to repeat’ first LP

Bastille "don't want to repeat" their first album.
The band gained commercial acclaim with their debut record 'Bad Blood' but are conscious they want their second offering to be different, which they admit might not please all of their fans.
Frontman Dan Smith said: "We don't want to kill what we have done already, we are not looking to reinvent the Bastille sound, but we don't want to repeat ourselves.
"If we don't do exactly what we did last time, we might be seen as a bit of a failure, but there is no point caring about that because there is nothing we can do about it."
The 'Pompeii' hitmakers continued to say they have had their confidence boosted by the album's success, so have felt comfortable exploring new sounds for the band, ranging from hip hop samples to guitar-driven tunes.
He explained: "We don't have any guitars on the first record, we very much do on the next one.
"We just wanted to wear our influences a lot more obviously. So if we were gesturing towards a hip hop beat then we sampled a hip hop beat, whereas on the first album we might have hid that a bit more."
Despite their hectic touring schedule since the album was released in 2013, the band say they haven't stopped working in the studio and even took a record producer on the road with them so their creative juices didn't stop flowing.
Dan added to BBC Newsbeat: "I guess there is pressure, but I think it has been really important to us to not stop making music."

Iron Maiden unveil new single

Iron Maiden have unveiled their first single in five years.
The heavy metal band has premiered 'Speed of Light', which is the first track to be taken from their forthcoming 16th studio album 'The Book of Souls' - their first since 2010's 'The Final Frontier' - which will be released on September 4.
The rockers recorded the collection in Paris at the end of last year with long-standing producer Kevin Shirley, although the release was delayed when frontman Bruce Dickinson was diagnosed with tongue cancer, later being given the all-clear in May following treatment.
Last month the 57-year-old star said the health scare has made him want to "stop wasting time" and only do things which are important to him.
He told BANG Showbiz: "Once I got through it, I just wanted to get on with life, and stop wasting time. I now have less time for people who waste my time. It's not that I'm impatient, I just think now that there are more important things to do than waste my time on people who are just wasting my time, there are more important things really. That's it really, not a great deal has changed. I didn't have any great religious experience as a result of it."

Nickelback axe world tour

Nickelback have axed their world tour.
The 'How U Remind Me' hitmakers have cancelled all of their remaining 2015 tour dates dates - which were due to begin on September 30 - so frontman Chad Kroeger can recover from surgery on his voice box, having already pulled out of the North American leg of the tour earlier this year.
In a statement on their website, they wrote: "Nickelback is forced to cancel all remaining dates for the 2015 No Fixed Address Tour due to an extended period of vocal rest ordered for lead singer Chad Kroeger. Kroeger, who was diagnosed with an intracordal cyst on his voice box in June, recently underwent surgery and must remain on vocal rest as ordered by doctors for the next six to nine months in order to fully recuperate.
"Kroeger will require an extended period of recovery in order to heal completely."
The rockers released their eighth studio album 'No Fixed Address' last November and had been scheduled to perform 34 tour dates throughout Europe between September and December.
In the statement, the band added they hope to return to the stage soon, despite the fact they have made no plans to reschedule the dates, with refunds available to fans who had tickets to the shows.
They wrote: "Most of all, we are sorry to miss our fans out on the road this fall, but Chad's health, healing and full recovery are what is most important right now. With the proper amount of time, we hope to have him back stronger and better than ever before. We thank everyone for their support and understanding during this time and look forward to getting back out on the road and playing music for everyone again real soon."

Michael Jackson was unaware of Pharrell Williams

Michael Jackson didn't know who Pharrell Williams was.
The late musical icon - who passed away in 2009 - invited the N.E.R.D. star to record with him prior to his death, but Pharrell found the invitation strange because he seemed to be unaware of him when he arrived at the studio.
Recalling the encounter, he explained: "He goes, 'So have you ever been in a studio before?'
"I'm like, 'What? You called me.'
"But I couldn't say that to him. It's Michael Jackson."
The 42-year-old producer continued to say he wrote several songs for the musician which ended up being given to Justin Timberlake, with their first conversation being when he was in the studio with the 'Cry Me A River' hitmaker.
Speaking on his Beats 1 show, he said: "The [first] meeting was supposed to be for us to meet to talk about music, and the songs that he turned down, I don't think he realised that I was going to give those songs to Justin.
"So I'm in the studio with Justin, and they say, 'Got a call for you on line one, it's Michael Jackson.'
"So I'm thinking it's one of my friends trying to be funny. And I heard someone eating popcorn in my ear, that's how I know that it's him. He's the king of control, I think he invented it! He's like, 'Hey, okay, you working with Justin? Ah that's really nice, okay cool, well you guys have a great session, tell Justin I said hello!'
"And Justin was like, 'Who was that? Michael? Yeah he does that.'"
