Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey dies

Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey has died aged 67.
Glenn, who was also a founding member of the American rock band, lost his life in New York after battling against various intestinal issues.
According to TMZ.com, Glenn had been suffering from illnesses including acute ulcerative colitis, pneumonia and rheumatoid arthritis, with the cause of death believed to be due to complications surrounding the health problems.
In a statement on the band's website, his family and bandmates wrote: "Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us."
TMZ reports that Glenn had surgery in November and had been recovering fairly well until his condition took a turn for the worse in recent days.
The Eagles are famous for tracks including 'Hotel California' and Desperado', which Glenn co-wrote with Don Henley, and 'Take It Easy' and 'Tequila Sunrise'.
The band took home six Grammy awards during their time together, before they split in 1980.
Following the end of the Eagles, Glenn continued to have a successful career as a solo singer, with his most famous offerings being 'The Heat Is On' and 'You Belong to the City'.
The Eagles had been due to reunite to perform at the Kennedy Center Honors last month but pulled out due to Glenn's ill health.

Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth win Best Song at Critics’ Choice Awards

Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth won Best Song at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday (17.01.16).
The pair picked up the prestigious gong for 'See You Again', their tribute to the late Paul Walker, which features on the 'Furious 7' soundtrack.
While their category was not televised, the win was announced on the Critics' Choice Awards' Twitter page before the show started.
The tweet read: "Congrats to #SeeYouAgain, Best Song winner from @FastFurious! It's a pitch-perfect tribute. #CriticsChoice (sic)."
'See You Again' beat off strong competition from 'Love Me Like You Do' from 'Fifty Shades of Grey', 'Til It Happens to You' from 'The Hunting Ground', 'One Kind of Love' from 'Love & Mercy', 'Writing's on the Wall' from 'Spectre' and 'Simple Song #3' from 'Youth' to take home the prize.
The win comes after Wiz and Charlie were snubbed in the Best Original Song category when the Academy Awards nominations were announced last week.
'Earned It' from 50 Shades of 'Grey', 'Til It Happens To You from 'The Hunting Ground', 'Writings On The Wall from 'Spectre'. 'Manta Ray' from 'Racing Extinction' and 'Simple Song 3' from 'Youth' were all nominated.
Reacting to the snub, The Roots' Questlove tweeted: "I woulda bet the farm that @wizkhalifa was taking that statue home for "See You Again". Guess they told me huh? #Oscars (sic)."

Ice Cube to reunite with N.W.A at Coachella

Ice Cube is planning to reunite N.W.A. at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The 'You Can Do It' hitmaker will be taking to the stage at the world famous music event in Indio, California, in April and he wants to bring his former bandmates on stage with him and give the crowd a "history lesson" on " N.W.A" and the "West Side Connection".
Speaking on US TV show 'The Talk', he said: "I've got some tricks up my sleeves ... I'm gonna try to bring the members of N.W.A. together. Give everybody a little history lesson on Ice Cube and N.W.A., West Side Connection, everything I've been doing over the years."
As well as potentially bringing surviving members DJ Yella wand Dr. Dre on stage, Ice Cube also teased there will be "some great visuals", which could be mean the late Eazy-E could be projected onto a big screen in some form.
As well as taking to the stage at Coachella in April, Ice Cube and
N.W.A. will inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 8.
Ice Cube's last reunion with his N.W.A. friends was with DJ Yella and MC Ren at the BET Experience in the run up to release of the movie 'Straight Outta Compton'.
The film tells the story of how the hip hop group was formed in the late 80s and the effect their revolutionary rap music about the disenfranchisement of young Africa/Americans had on the US.
Ice Cube joins a stellar line-up at Coachella, which already sees the reunion of the original Guns 'N Roses members, superstar DJ Calvin Harris headline and LCD Soundsystem performing together live for the first time in 2011.

Kanye West recording David Bowie tribute LP

Kanye West is reportedly working on a David Bowie tribute album.
The 'Only One' rapper - who led tributes to the late rock legend who died from liver cancer on January 10 - feels as a "musical innovator" it's his job to keep Bowie's songs and spirit alive.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "He [Kanye] is determined to carry on David's work as a musical innovator. He says that the torch has been passed to him."
The 38-year-old hip hop star has reportedly been spending hours in the studio working on covers to Bowie's songs, including hits like 'Rebel Rebel' and 'Heroes', and he's also been rapping over the top of the 'Space Oddity' singer's music with his own lyrics.
The source added : "Some are straightforward cover version with Kanye actually singing. On others he is rapping with his own lyrics over Bowie's music."
As soon as Kanye - who is married to Kim Kardashian West - heard the news of the late star's passing he took to social media and said how he was one of his "most important inspirations".
He wrote on Twitter: "David Bowie was one of my most important inspirations, so fearless, so creative, he gave us magic for a lifetime. I pray for his family and friends."

Rihanna teases Super Bowl and Grammy appearance

Rihanna has teased she's playing both the Super Bowl and the Grammy Awards in a new CBS promo video.
The 'FourFiveSeconds' singer appeared in the clip promoting the broadcast of both events.
In the video she's seen walking through a football ground in a sparkly gold dress and heels before she is greeted with three NFL sports broadcasters, Jim Nantz, Phil Simms and James Brown.
And all four compete in a face-off officiated by 'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert, who tosses a coin to see which event goes first.
NFL's Jim Nantz, responds: "We go first."
And after it's announced that the Super Bowl leads, Rihanna simply teased: "I'm worth the wait."
It seems more than likely that Rihanna - who is also yet to release her eighth studio album 'Anti' - could be linked to a slot at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 15.
And as well she is also rumoured to be playing the Super Bowl half time show with Coldplay on February 7.
The 27-year-old singer could also be hinting that her eagerly-anticipated album could be on its way soon.
However, both Rihanna and her representatives are keeping tight-lipped about her much-delayed record and the two performance slots.
And we are still awaiting the final 'ANTIdiaRy' teaser video, in which RiRi is expected to reveal a release date for the LP.

Nicola Roberts: I’m not saying never to another solo LP

Nicola Roberts hasn't ruled out doing another solo album.
The former Girls Aloud star has been busy helping other artists whilst on hiatus, but admitted she feels a "release of creativity" in the studio and when that urge becomes "intolerable" she's vowed to switch to writing her own music.
Asked if she'll do another solo project, she said: "I'm definitely not saying never. And it's interesting because there's always only so much creativity you can give to another artist's session because there will always be a brief for that session. You can be in a session where the artist would say to you - 'oh, I wouldn't really say that myself'. Then it stunts your own release of creativity.
"So there is definitely a big portion of me that needs to create and so when that starts to become intolerable then I would have to let that out. When I feel that I no longer want to confine myself to these lines of making a song anymore and when I want to express myself in a particular way then that is when it will become a need."
Meanwhile, Nicola - who has one solo album 'Cinderella Eyes' - said she's thankful for having time off to "grow" and move on from the "bubble" that is Girls Aloud.
She told website The 405: "For the past two years all that I've been doing is writing. And it was really just coming out of the Girls Aloud 10th birthday celebration thing and the tour and never really stopping for a second. Like, I went from Girls Aloud to my own record then back to Girls Aloud and it was just... I have needed a few years to just grow, I think, and come out of the bubble."

Kanye West drops new single No More Parties in L.A.

Kanye West has dropped his new single 'No More Parties in L.A.' featuring Kendrick Lamar.
The 'Only One' rapper had originally planned to preview the second single from his forthcoming LP 'Swish' on Friday 15 January, following his wife Kim Kardashian's tweet to expect his Twitter series 'G.O.O.D. Fridays' to return with a new song released each week from Friday 8.
Kanye, 38, has since tweeted a link to the new track on Monday (18.01.16) in a post captioned, "It's up".
The song is the follow up to 'Real Friends', which he released true to Kim's word on Friday 8 January.
And on Sunday (17.01.16) Kim once again took to twitter to explain the delay in getting 'No More Parties in L.A.' up, which was down to Kanye having to fly to Italy for a fitting for his new fashion collection Yeezy Season 3 .
And Kim also revealed Kanye had in fact completed "90 bars" of the track on his flight home and produced the final cut in the studio after landing back home in Los Angeles later that day with his engineer Noah Goldstein.
On Sunday (17.01.16), Kim posted to her Twitter: "I soooo didn't mean to lie to you guys about GOOD FRIDAYS coming back. Kanye flew to Italy for a Yeezy Season 3 fitting ... He flew Noah out with him so he could finish "No More Parties In La" & wrote 90 bars on the plane there!!! ... This is the 1st song ever with Kanye & Kendrick Lamar! He just landed & headed straight to the studio to finish it!!! (sic)"
'Swish' is expected to be released in full on February 11.

Sharon Corr resented being seen as ‘eye candy’

Sharon Corr felt motivated by the perception that she and her two sisters Caroline and Andrea were just "eye candy" in their band.
The 45-year-old singer stars alongside her siblings and their brother Jim in the chart-topping group and has admitted to feeling angered by the assumption that Jim was the most talented member of the band, simply because he is male.
She said: "I am the eldest sister and that did make me feel protective towards Andrea and Caroline, but we're all pretty feisty. When we first got the band together, the assumption was that our bother, Jim, was the leader and we were just the eye candy."
However, Sharon explained that the misplaced perception proved to be a source of motivation for the sisters, who were not shy in letting their opinions be heard.
The Irish star told The Sunday Times newspaper: "That made us fight even harder for recognition. But nobody ever came to us and told us we had to wear skimpy tops in our videos ... they knew we would be the first to tell them where to stick them."

Sharon Corr: I feel frightened by music videos

Sharon Corr feels frightened by the current state of the music industry.
The Irish singer, who appears alongside her siblings Andrea, Caroline and Jim in their band The Corrs, believes sexualised imagery is being used too much to sell music.
She reflected: "Me, Andrea and Caroline are all mothers now and I worry about some of the stuff kids are being exposed to. Yes, people have being using sex to sell products for ever, but I have a daughter who's eight and a son who's nine and the highly sexualised videos they're exposed to really frighten me.
"What is the entertainment industry saying to young girls? That they have to get naked to be good at what they do?"
Sharon, 45, cited Adele as an example of an artist who has managed to top the chart on the strength of her vocals talents, rather than because she promotes herself in a provocative way.
She told The Sunday Times newspaper: "Thank God we have people like Adele, who prove that you don't have to pander to all that rubbish. Ah ... you've got me started now."
