MUNA unveil fourth album Dancing On The Wall

MUNA have confirmed details of their highly anticipated fourth album, Dancing On The Wall, set for release on May 8.

The announcement lands alongside the unveiling of the album’s title track and its official video, offering fans a first glimpse into the trio’s next era.

To celebrate the release, the band will play a series of intimate underplay shows in Los Angeles, New York and London during release week — a rare chance to see MUNA in close quarters before they return to bigger stages later in the year.

Speaking about the new record, the band described the title track as a defining moment in their catalogue.

They said: “Dancing On The Wall is possibly our favorite song we’ve made as a band. We think it’s all the best parts of MUNA – it’s coming from a really emotional and lonely place, but the song itself makes us feel powerful and euphoric. It’s written in the moment that the clock strikes midnight at the ball, and you have to give up the fantasy. In this case, it’s the fantasy of loving someone or something that can’t love you back.”

The 13-track collection was produced by band member Naomi McPherson, giving the girls total artistic control. It’s a record that invites listeners onto the dancefloor while keeping its emotional core raw and exposed.

MUNA – completed by Katie Gavin and Josette Maskin – have been on a steady rise and were handpicked by Harry Styles as the first support act on his debut solo tour. They’ve gone on to share stages with Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour, as well as Lorde, boygenius and Phoebe Bridgers.

Dancing On The Wall is the follow-up to their 2022 self-titled LP, their first album as an independent artist, after they signed with Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records imprint in 2021.
