Mumford and Sons cover Nothing Compares 2 U for Prince

Mumford & Sons paid tribute to Prince by covering ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at their concert last night (21.04.16).
The ‘I Will Wait’ rockers included the song, which was originally recorded and written by The ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker – who was found dead at his Paisley Park estate yesterday – in their set at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
After performing the hit, which also became a number one single for Sinead O’Connor, frontman Marcus Mumford, 29, said: "Ladies and gentlemen give it up for Prince."
‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ was a staple song on most of Prince’s tours despite being written for his side project, The Family.
Meanwhile, The 1975 also honoured Prince at their concert in Santa Barbara last night.
The indie band, fronted by Matt Healy, projected a picture of the late music icon onto a massive screen behind them as soon as they heard news of the star’s death.
Matt shared a picture of the stage onto his personal Twitter account, along with the caption: "Prince Forever (sic)"
Authorities are still investigating Prince’s death, though it was previously reported no signs of foul play have been discovered.
