Daniel Bruhl caught gossiping about Winterbottom’s film

Daniel Bruhl got caught criticising 'The Face of An Angel' director Michael Winterbottom in an embarrassing on-set slip up.
The 36-year-old actor was caught gossiping in German about the movie - which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last week (06.09.14) - whilst he was rehearsing scenes with his co-star Kate Beckinsale in front of the film director who, unbeknownst to Daniel, spoke the language perfectly.
Talking to the Daily Mail newspaper, Daniel confessed: "We'd shoot a scene and I'd look at Kate and start chatting away in German. She speaks French and Russian too, but we figured we could gossip about Michael and what we thought of the film in German because he wouldn't have any idea what we were talking about.
"We'd say things like, 'Oh, this scene doesn't make sense!' Or, 'What the hell was that about? Do you understand anything you're saying?'
"We'd be exaggerating it, laughing and joking and being a bit silly, but in German. We were both wired up by the sound guys and whatever we said could be heard, so we settled on German as a 'safe' language.
"Three weeks into filming, Michael suddenly made a comment in perfect German and at that point we realised he'd had us from the very beginning at 'Guten Tag'."
However, the actor insists Winterbottom didn't get offended by their comments and everyone was able to have a good laugh about their error.
Bruhl - who has also appeared in the movies 'Rush' and 'Inglourious Basterds' - said: "We felt very stupid but it was also very funny."

James McAvoy is going bald

James McAvoy has joked about going bald for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.
The handsome actor has previously appeared in 'X-Men: First Class' and 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' with a full head of hair, despite the fact that the comic book version of his character Professor Charles Xavier is completely bald.
But now, James has revealed that he will be older in the upcoming superhero flick, 'X-Men: Apocalypse' and even hinted that he will finally shave his head for the role.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, James shared: "I'll be older in this one. And I think I'm losing my hair finally. And, yeah, that's kind of all I know."
The film - which is also set to star Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Hugh Jackman - isn't scheduled for release until May 19, 2016, so it isn't surprising to hear that James doesn't know much about the movie as of yet.
He told the site: "I got an email from the [producer and writer] Simon Kinberg who informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn't want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don't know."
However, James did note that the film will have world-wide repercussions for the Marvel universe though, as he added: "It seems fairly global, if we're talking apocalypse."

Morgan Freeman is to star in 'Ben-Hur'. 'The Shawshank Redemption' star is the first of Paramount and director Timur Bekmambetov's castings for the upcoming remake of the 1959 film based on Lew Wallace's 1880 novel 'Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ', Dea...

Pompeii was ‘hell’ for Kiefer Sutherland

Paul W.S. Anderson put Kiefer Sutherland through "hell" on the set of 'Pompeii'.
The director admitted Sutherland and Kit Harington were left feeling "uncomfortable" as they filmed through clouds of ash to recreate the scenes from volcano explosion that destroyed the Italian city in 79 AD.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: "We needed to plunge them into hell and it's easier to act like that if they are in hellish conditions.
"If you talk to Kit or Kiefer, they would both tell you the same, it was hellish making the movie.
"We had a lot of very unhappy actors. Everyone was very committed to the movie and coming to work. But I think there were times when they weren't happy. They weren't coming in, in the mornings saying, 'Woohoo! Pompeii!' because they were getting ash in their eyes and in their lungs.
"It really was an uncomfortable movie but I think that discomfort added a huge layer of realism."
He then joked: "Kiefer for example, makes a lot of notes in his script. About what the character is thinking, handwritten notes in his script and he would write things like, 'NAR', I would see this term 'NAR' all the way through his script.
"I said, 'NAR' and he said, 'No acting required'. He said, 'I don't need to pretend that the world was ending. I know you're going to make me feel like it is."
According to the director, the '24' actor even revealed that 'Pompeii' was the hardest film he's ever made.
He explained: "Kiefer's made about 50 movies and at the end of ['Pompeii'] he said, 'That's the toughest film I've ever made.' I took that as a compliment!"
'Pompeii' is available on DVD and Bluray from September 15.

Katie Holmes to make directorial debut

Katie Holmes is set to make her directorial debut.
The 35-year-old actress is to step behind the camera for the first time when she directs and stars in the adaptation of Annie Weatherwax's novel 'All We Had' alongside producer Jane Rosenthal and Josh Boone, who will write the script for the emotional movie.
Speaking to Variety.com, Holmes said: "I am very excited and honoured to be collaborating with Jane and Josh on this project and look so forward to bringing Annie's incredible characters to the screen."
The brunette beauty will play a mother in the movie, who is living on the edge of poverty with her young daughter, but they go on to find an unlikely home, surrounded by peculiar residents, in America.
Rosenthal said: "Katie has such a clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship.
"Her passion for the material, along with Josh Boone's ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of everyday, will truly bring these characters to life."
Meanwhile, Katie - who has eight-year-old daughter Suri with ex-husband Tom Cruise - will next been seen playing a teacher-turned-vigilante in 'Miss Meadows.'
The comedy premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in April and will be released in November.

Andrew Garfield addresses Spider-Man critics

Andrew Garfield has responded to 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' critics.
The 31-year-old actor has hit back at the critics who were disappointed by the superhero sequel, as he revealed that many "deep scenes" were cut by the producers in post-production.
Talking to The Daily Beast, Andrew explained: "It's interesting. I read a lot of the reactions from people and I had to stop because I could feel I was getting away from how I actually felt about it.
"For me, I read the script that Alex [Kurtzman] and Bob [Orci] wrote, and I genuinely loved it. There was a thread running through it.
"I think what happened was, through the pre-production and post-production, when you have something that works as a whole, and then you start removing portions of it - because there was even more of it than was in the final cut, and everything was related - once you start removing things and saying, 'No, that doesn't work', then the thread is broken, and it's hard to go with the flow of the story.
"Certain people at the studio had problems with certain parts of it, and ultimately the studio is the final say in those movies because they're the tent-poles, so you have to answer to those people."
The handsome actor - who is currently dating his 'Amazing Spider-Man' co-star Emma Stone - then added that he had concerns that fans could be tired of the 'Spider-Man' franchise .
He mused: "We have to ask ourselves, 'What do we believe to be true?' Is it that this is the fifth 'Spider-Man' movie in however many years and there's a bit of fatigue?"

Mark Ruffalo wants Star Wars role

Mark Ruffalo wants a role in 'Star Wars: Episode VIII'.
'The Avengers' actor has revealed that he'd love to star in the science fiction series, as he admitted to begging the director of the eighth film, Rian Johnson for a part.
Talking to Collider, Mark - who worked with Rian on the 2008 comedy 'The Bloom Brothers' - explained that he'd got in contact with the director shortly after it was announced that he would be involved with the making of 'Star Wars: Episode VIII'.
He shared: "My email to Rian after all these years was, 'Rian, congratulations on everything you've been doing. And by the way, if there's a part in 'Star Wars', please, anything, please consider considering me to join you."
Despite the joking, the 46-year-old actor admitted that if he could work something out with the director, he would love to get involved.
When asked if he would be able to fit it into his busy schedule, Mark told the site: "Possibly. Depending on timing. I love hanging out with Rian, so that's interesting to me but I would like a role.
"It would be nice to have something. And honestly, even a CGI role."

Zack Snyder unveils Batmobile

Zack Snyder has unveiled the Batmobile from 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice'.
The 48-year-old director has posted a photo of Batman's vehicle on his Twitter page for fans to see.
The car - which will be driven by Ben Affleck in the role as The Caped Crusader - is an armoured black vehicle with a machine gun turret at the front and other weapons on the body.
Stylistically, the car is more in keeping with the design of the Batmobile from 'The Dark Knight' trilogy - starring Christian Bale - rather than the vehicle seen in Tim Burton's two Batman movies and other films.
Snyder decided to post the image after pics of the car were taken during a shoot and posted online.
The filmmaker accompanied his photo with the caption: "Here's a real picture of the #Batmobile. (sic)"
Affleck stars in the movie - the sequel to Superman film 'Man of Steel' - with Henry Cavil, who plays Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Gal Gadot, who is taking on the role of Wonder Woman.
Jesse Eisenberg will play villain Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons appears as Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred and 'The Piano' star Holly Hunter is also part of the cast but her role is yet to be revealed.
'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice' is being shot at the Michigan Motion Picture Studio as well as various locations in and around Detroit, Illinois, Africa and the South Pacific.
The movie is scheduled for release on May 2016.
