Hugh Jackman would "seriously consider" playing James Bond.
The 46-year-old actor admitted he was approached about taking on the role of the suave super-spy 10 years ago before Daniel Craig got the part and if the opportunity came up again, he would be interested.
Hugh told Australian TV show 'The Project': "I sort of have [been asked]. At the time I was just about to do 'X-Men 2' and I was like, #Ah, I don't think it's the right time'. But it was not an easy one to give up."
And when asked if he would take on the role when Daniel retires, he said: "I'd seriously consider it."
Meanwhile, Daniel, 47, - who is about to return to the big screen for the new Bond movie 'Spectre' - recently slammed his alter-ego as a lonely, "sexist and misogynistic" man.
He said: "Hopefully my Bond is not as sexist and misogynistic as (earlier incarnations). The world has changed.
"I am certainly not that person. But he is ... There's a great sadness. He's got these beautiful women but then they leave. It's sad. And as a man gets older it's not a good look. It might be a nice fantasy, that's debatable, but the reality, after a couple of months..."
The star revealed he's set to pack away his revolver and hang up his dinner suit because he wants to get on with life after James Bond.
When asked if he's staying with the franchise, he told Esquire magazine: "At this moment, no. I have a life and I've got to get on with it a bit. But we'll see.
"You know, it sounds awful but I've been left a wealthy man by doing this. I can afford to live very comfortably... I'm incredibly fortunate. But the day I can walk into a pub and someone goes, 'Oh, there's Daniel Craig' and then just leaves me alone, that'll be great."

Rachel Weisz would like to play an alcoholic.
The 45-year-old actress - who's married to James Bond star Daniel Craig - has revealed her eagerness to play a committed woman, like someone with an alcohol dependency.
Rachel said: "I suppose it's interesting to play someone who's committed to something. Even if someone's committed to alcoholism; I would be very interested in that.
"It doesn't matter if it's forces of good or forces of destruction or self-destruction. Yeah, to be full of appetite is interesting. Otherwise, to be passive, it's hard to play that."
Meanwhile, despite being one of the most high-profile women in Hollywood, Rachel doesn't think the movie industry should be responsible for dealing with broader social issues.
She told Total Film magazine: "I'm not a politician. I'm not sure if talking about it ... It's about films getting made. Doing it. Making films in which women can show the strength of their feelings.
"When you say 'a strong woman', I would say 'a woman with strong feelings'. I can't think of any male drama which wouldn't have a man who has a very strong desires or goals."

Daniel Craig treated 'Spectre' like a normal "acting job".
The 47-year-old star doesn't want to exhibit any misplaced confidence about the forthcoming Sam Mendes-directed film before its release - and revealed he was not consciously trying to better the 2012 hit 'Skyfall' during filming.
He said: "Hubris is the enemy of filmmaking. To say 'yeah, we've got a movie' would just be stupid of me.
"We did everything we could, I think we put the money in the right place. We just tried to make it better - not better than 'Skyfall', but every day we tried to make it better."
Daniel initially felt a pressure to match the success of 'Skyfall', but quickly realised it was unhealthy and so he tried to approach the new movie in a relaxed fashion.
He told Total Film magazine: "At the beginning, but then after a while, you're are just like: what do you do?
"You can't kind of say, 'Ooh you've got to make it better than the other one'. I think if you think about that all the time, then ... All I wanted to do was treat it like an acting job."

Vincent Cassel is to play a villain in the new 'Bourne' movie.
The 48-year-old star - whose previous film credits include 'Black Swan' and 'La Haine' - will make a rare appearance in a big-budget Hollywood movie, which will mark Matt Damon's return to the role of Jason Bourne in the as-yet-untitled project, Variety reports.
News of Vincent's casting comes shortly after Matt, 44, revealed he had been patiently waiting for the "world to change" before reprising the role.
The Oscar-winning star said the decision of Edward Snowden - a former US National Security Agency worker - to leak classified information to the media in 2013 marked a major turning point.
Looking forward to the much-hyped new film, Matt recently said: "Without giving too much of it away, it's Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world."
Matt said Snowden's decision has ignited a debate about civil liberties and provides the perfect backdrop to a new 'Bourne' movie.
He reflected: "It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy."

Azealia Banks thinks Idris Elba is "too much man" to play James Bond.
The controversial US rapper has become the latest big name to discusses Idris' suitability for the role, arguing he's far too masculine and sexy to play the part.
She wrote on Twitter: "Idris is too much man to play bond anyway. If idris is the next bond then all the bonds after that have to be sexy and ULTRA MASCULINE. (sic)"
What's more, Azealia said Idris - who's been linked to the role for years - would be a virtually impossible act to follow were he chosen to replace Daniel Craig.
The 24-year-old star said: "Black men are super duper masculine and following up Idris with some other whatever looking white man for bond is gonna be hard.
"So they don't want him in cause it's gonna kill all competition. A white actor simply cannot be bond after idris has. No one will care. He would just be too good and they wouldn't EVER find anyone better.
"Once bond goes black, he can't go back. But if they were really clever they'd cast idris then find an Asian actor to play bond next. Indian or Japanese Bond.
"If idris doesn't get the part it will be 100% be due to white male insecurity in hollywood. He's perfect for it. Low key wanna be a casting director. (sic)"

Andrew Garfield "couldn't save 'Spider-Man'".
The 32-year-old actor was thrilled to land the role of Peter Parker and his alter-ego in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' in 2011 but after a less than stellar reception and an upcoming reboot in the works, Andrew has admitted that the experience has left him disappointed.
He told Zaki's Corner: "I thought I was going to be Spider-Man, you know? I went into it going... ego s**t came in. It's like, 'Okay, here it is. I'm f***ing Spider-Man. I f***ing made it. I didn't actually make it. I was never Spider-Man.
"I was the actor that I am, the person that I am. Struggling with trying to match up with something that I'd elevated so high in my mind. Elevated beyond what I could attain, what I could achieve.
"The great thing is, that's what Peter Parker was doing as well. Peter Parker created this symbol that he couldn't live up to. It was never enough. He never felt enough, and I never felt enough. I never felt like I was able to do enough. And I couldn't rescue those films... even though I didn't sleep."
However, Andrew clarified that the movie and its sequel 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' may not have needed rescuing but he was unable to "make them as deep and soulful and... life-giving as I could ever dream.... And it was especially important because that character has always meant so much to me".
Tom Holland will take over the role of Peter Parker in the reboot.

Kevin Feige is to report directly to Disney rather than Marvel Entertainment from now onwards.
The 42-year-old Marvel Studios President - who's played an instrumental role in some of the studio's biggest hits, which include the 'Iron Man' and 'Avengers' franchises - will now report to Disney chief Alan Horn after "years of frustration" experienced under the old set up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In a statement, Disney explained: "Marvel Studios is taking the next logical step in its integration with The Walt Disney Studios, joining Pixar and Lucasfilm in centralising many of its film-related functions in Burbank, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D'Esposito continuing to lead the Marvel Studios team reporting to Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn."
The announcement comes shortly after Kevin revealed a Marvel film will feature an LGBT character "in the next decade or sooner".
Although there are no concrete plans in place to include such a character in a scheduled film, he revealed it is something that will definitely happen at some stage.
Kevin shared: "Well in the drawing board going up to 2019 it remains to be seen.
"The comics always make the path that we get to have the fun of saying, 'Yeah let's choose this way or let's choose this way', and I think there are a lot of cool things happening in the comics now that - it's usually a five to ten-year cycle between when something happens in the comics and when we can do it in the movie, sometimes a little less, but 'Civil War 'is certainly about the ten-year mark. 'Winter Soldier', I think, was around that time.
"So we always look at stuff that's happening in the comics and go, 'Where could we do that?' Sometimes it's sooner, but there's no reason why that couldn't happen in the next decade or sooner."

Joaquin Phoenix has only watched two of his own films.
The 40-year-old Hollywood star - whose film credits include 'Walk the Line' and the new Woody Allen-directed movie 'Irrational Man' - has revealed he hates watching himself on screen and has only managed to sit through a couple of his own projects.
Asked if he's seen 'Irrational Man', Joaquin replied: "I haven't. Paul Thomas Anderson [the director] got me to watch 'The Master' and I saw 'Her'. Those are the only two I've seen.
"I thought I might be mature enough to watch and learn. To think: These are the mistakes that were made. But it's still something I struggle with ... Oh, this sounds stupid. Who gives a s**t?"
Meanwhile, Joaquin said he'd be open to appearing in a Marvel or 'Star Wars' film, despite having previously been snobbish about such movies.
He told Time Out London: "When I was younger I was probably a bit of a snob about that. But they've gotten better. I've flirted with several of those films, having meetings and getting close, but ultimately it never felt like they'd be really fulfilling.
"There were too many requirements that went against my instincts or character. I've been spoiled. I've never had to make those compromises.
"I've not met a director yet with one of those where we go through the script, they say: 'You know what, f**k this set-piece, let's focus on the character!' I understand, but it's best I don't do it."
