More death in Downton Abbey?

Julian Fellowes has hinted there could be more death on the way in ‘Downton Abbey’.

While actress Lesley Nicol – who plays cook Mrs. Patmore – recently assured fans no major characters will die in series five, the show’s creator and writer is keeping the cast on their toes as they have yet to receive the scripts for the final episodes.

Quizzed about Lesley’s comments, he told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "That’s all you know! You see, I only finished the last script on Tuesday."

Lesley claimed there were no plans to axe any further characters after the show received fierce backlash for killing off fan favourites Matthew Crawley and Lady Sybil in the third series.

She said: "There aren’t any plans for any big characters to die this year. There has been such a big fuss in the past, especially with Matthew Crawley.

"I think it would be very unwise to do any more deaths because the viewers don’t like them."

While she may not meet a grisly end, youthful Crawley cousin Lady Rose is expected to be written out of the ITV period drama in the upcoming fifth series.

Actress Lily James is to leave the show in order to promote her upcoming Disney movie, ‘Cinderella’, around the world.

The promotional duties mean Lily, 25, will be unavailable when series six is filmed next year, but it’s thought Julian will keep the door open for her to return in future.
