Monty Python-Star Eric Idle enthüllte, dass er in Tränen ausbrach, als sein Arzt ihm mitteilte, dass er nach seinem überstandenen Krebs leben würde.

Der 79-Jährige sei stoisch geblieben, als bei ihm vor drei Jahren zum ersten Mal Bauchspeicheldrüsenkrebs diagnostiziert wurde und bestand darauf, dass er mit seinem Leben „einfach weitergemacht“ habe.

Nachdem sich der Komiker einer mehrstündigen Operation und mehreren Runden von Untersuchungen unterzogen hatte, bekam er schließlich mitgeteilt, dass er krebsfrei sei. In einem Interview mit der ‘The Guardian’-Zeitung verriet Idle: „Ich habe nicht geweint, bis ich wusste, dass ich leben würde. Ich habe einfach weitergemacht. Ich bin Brite! Da versucht man, angesichts der Gefahr keine Emotionen zu zeigen.“ Nach einer fünfstündigen Operation zur Entfernung des Krebses an seiner Bauchspeicheldrüse musste Eric alle sechs Monate zu einem Check-up zu seinem Arzt gehen, wobei er bei seinem letzten Termin einen richtigen Schock bekommen habe. „Ich habe sechs Monate lang mit Tests gelebt. Ich wusste nicht, wie lange ich noch haben würde. Ich war kürzlich bei meinem Arzt und da bekam ich den wahren Schock. Ich fragte ihn, wie lange ich noch hatte, und er sagte: 10 Jahre. Er sagte auch: ‘Wärest du zwei Wochen später hier gewesen, dann hättest du die Operation nicht machen können, du hättest direkt die Chemo gekriegt, was unangenehm ist und in diesem Stadium nicht viel bringt'”, erzählte der Star.
