Miranda Richardson: I don’t have time for social media

Miranda Richardson doesn’t have time for social media.
The 59-year-old actress doesn’t have any social media profiles and while she can see the potential value in the different platforms, she isn’t interested in having a presence online.
Asked about her reluctance to join the world of social media, Miranda told ITV’s ‘This Morning’: "It’s not for me. I don’t know how people find time, but they do. And … good luck to them, good luck to you.
"Well, I think it should interest producers and directors to gauge how shows are going. But, telling me how to run my life or anything like that – no."
The veteran star recently appeared in the David Gordon Green-directed biographical drama ‘Stronger’, which tells the real-life story of Jeff Bauman recovering from losing his legs in the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013.
Miranda plays the role of Jeff’s mother in the movie, and the British actress admitted to being a little intimidated by the prospect of appearing in a film based on real events.
She shared: "Usually, it’s something I’m a little frightened by or a lot frightened by. I don’t know quite what it’s going to be, as I haven’t done this before. And I think, I really wanted to take a crack at this."
Miranda adopted a Boston accent for the role and she’s credited her voice coach for her believable on-screen performance.
She said: "It’s Boston Irish, a dysfunctional family – a fabulous voice coach, bless him, I love you – in a completely different setting. [It was] out of any comfort zone, and that’s great."
The award-winning actress confessed it took her a while to adjust to the distinctive tones of the Boston accent.
Of the challenge of learning the accent, Miranda said: "It’s very specific but fun to get your chops around."
