Miley Cyrus announces new album Bass Persuades and sets release date

Miley Cyrus will release her new album Bass Persuades later this month.

The 33-year-old star, who will now be billed simply as Miley professionally, has unveiled the release date for her upcoming 10th LP, and fans don’t have long to wait.

She wrote on Instagram: “My tenth studio album, Bass Persuades, is yours September 18th.”

Miley added that the title comes from the idea of music as something “powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong”.

She continued: “Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong.

“Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me.

“Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album.”

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker will celebrate the album’s launch with two shows at the Hollywood Bowl on October 16 and 18.

She wrote in a separate announcement: “It’s been a while.

“The Hollywood Bowl is my favorite place to experience music and see my favorite artists.

“I’ve sat in those seats many times, but I’ve never taken the stage. LA is my heart and I’m bringing it home.

“See you there.”

Last year, Miley insisted she has no “desire” to tour anymore.

Earlier this week, the pop star changed her social media handles to just “Miley” and shared a new picture of herself which was captioned with just her first name.

The singer has yet to explain the change but it comes as she prepares to release new music after signing a fresh deal with Atlantic Records.

Miley previously suggested the record will be full of love songs.

In an interview with actress Daryl Hannah for Wonderland magazine, she explained: “This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They’re always layered.

“There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it’s a reflection of where I am in my life.

“But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras. That’s something I hadn’t really experienced before.

“A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I’ve found form myself.”

Miley is also mourning the death of her godmother, Dolly Parton, who died last week aged 80.

She wrote on Instagram: “The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour and between our hearts.

“What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.”
