Mike Parr lands US film role

Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Mike Parr has landed a new film role.
The 33-year-old actor played Ross Barton in the ITV soap for five years before departing in 2018, and he’s now landed a new role outside of the Yorkshire Dales, as he’ll be appearing in a new movie titled ‘Our Home’.
According to The Sun, Mike will play a character named Adam Woods in his US feature film debut, who is the concerned uncle of the movie’s lead character Rachel Woods.
The movie tells the story of Rachel, a young writer who, after learning of her grandmother’s passing, returns to her hometown and begins digging into the life she thought she’d left behind.
For Mike – who is half American – the role comes as he previously revealed his desire to try and break into the Hollywood film market after leaving ‘Emmerdale’ two years ago.
He said at the time: "I wouldn’t want to become a regular on a soap in the US as I have just spent so long in one, but I’d like to play different characters in guest spots.
"The kind of roles I’m looking forward to are still the baddie but different kinds of storylines – maybe in a HBO boxset or a Netflix show.
"For me it’s more than the part, I didn’t get into acting for money or anything, I want to earn enough obviously, but it’s about the art of it."
Mike also said leaving ‘Emmerdale’ was "scary" as it meant he would be unemployed until he found another role, but was "excited" about the prospects of trying new ventures in his career.
He explained: "Leaving ‘Emmerdale’ is scary; this is the first time since the age of 14 that I’ve not had a job, but it’s also exciting."
